Marked for Death: A Rational Naruto Quest

As was demonstrated by Noumero's eloquently named plan "This Plan Tries to Kill Ami by Feeding Her to a Sky Squid", plan names are not content. This plan was originally written when I wanted to Finish the Damn Consequence, but pushback convinced me not to do it, and I figured that it wasn't core enough to the plan to continue. The name persists, but the plan does not make any attempt at timeskipping.

  • Check with Mari, if available.
  • Continue teaching Kagome Summoning.
  • If Yuno wants to relax between missions, invite her to paint flowerpots for Akane's birthday.
    • Check with Noburi that this is Isan-acceptable.
    • She's mentioned not being able to see colors before, what's that like for her? Does she want to talk about it?
    • She mentioned that Orochimaru was an Asura. What does that mean?
    • How is Satsuko doing? Could she tell us about Satsuko's story?
    • How are the missions going?
    • Thank her for her contributions to the Clan.
  • Celebrate Akane's birthday.
  • Hazoulation:
    • Give the team a large bonus.
    • Suggestion for waterproofing: soak in tannins, interweave or layer with a waterproof material (linen, hemp or wool), or treat with wax
    • Congratulate them and thank them, but note that their work isn't over yet.
      • Tools like this could be imperative to winning the war
      • Any improvements to stability, flight speed, manufacturability, and duration could be helpful.
    • Train Akane and any others on Team Uplift to use them from skytowers – using Shadow Clones for safety?.
    • Update Asuma on the current capabilities if Hazou thinks it appropriate.
      • The first successful Skyslider, model name "Michiki", has been made.
      • Is this useful enough to think about scaling production up?
      • Emphasize the contributions of the civilian team
        • Politely request that he visit Michiki in person for congratulations.
  • Misc:
    • Ask Kagome if he's heard of other sealing mediums. Carving, sculpture, mosaics? We're looking for anything that might help us understand 3D sealing or earthshaping better. Search the library for more information later.


This plan is very thin on the details right now, but this seems to be all the good stuff coming up for us, in about three scenes. I would really appreciate more suggestions to flesh it out.

@Velorien are you willing to write the Dogs scene, or should we figure out an alternative third scene?

I can now appreciate the nominative determinism in Kagome being a bit of a basket case.

Also how many times has that poor Kiara kid been mistaken for Kira of Death Note fame? In my experience, novel names always backfire and worsen the children's lives. Better go with something locally common, short (it'll be shortened in use anyway), and difficult to mistake.

  • After training Kagome for the day, ask Snowflake to hang out. It's wartime after all, so they should make memories together while they can! Hazou hasn't been around her nearly as long as the others.
    • BE MINDFUL OF HER THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS, YOU WANT TO BE A SUPPORTIVE FRIEND AFTER ALL. NO SERIOUSLY HAZOU, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION.
    • Ami-Style training: Have Snowflake toss practice Kunai at Hazou to help him train back up to field-readiness. Have Hazou face away and dodge them solely by the movement of their shadows.
    • If she's willing, perform some chakra experiments. Give her a chakdar, see if it vibrates with equal intensity for each cast of Substitution. Measure distances precisely and stay consistent to minimize variables.
  • Our amazing Skyslider team has made incredible progress. Would Snowflake be willing to test the difficulty of boarding one from Skywalkers? Hazou would, but he's not quite recovered yet. If not, he can try it in a few weeks.

If you long-press on the o you will get a variety of options for accents, including the macron. (That's how it was on iPhone and my current Android device, anyway.) Once you've done that a couple times it should start coming up in your suggestions as you type.

*slinks into the thread after years long absence.* My it has been an age sense I was last posting here. Sorry for the absence, I've mostly just been reading the story only thread for a while. On the subject of names. I did some searching in the thread's history to see if I commented out the names here, but I don't think I did. They must have been discussed on the discord and it is sufficiently far back that I can not easily search the archives, if they even survived. It has been sufficiently long enough that I don't recall where I pulled those names from, so I am sorry for being unable to answer the origins of them. I might have gone to a Japanese baby name generator or looked up names for them both.

Don't forget the word 'manufacturability'. 7 skyslider is a tactical operation. 70 skysliders is a strategic tool. 700 skysliders is a game changer.

Brave of our glorious QM to imply that 3 separate scenes aren't even a day's worth. We're gonna fit so many scenes in this bad boy.
