If we are going to meet with Asuma we should probably ask about the summon realm info he acquired for us so we don't seem to be wasting his time

Yuno added to teatime, after some discussion on discord.

[X] Action Plan: Flight, Family, and Iron Nerve
  • Make sure to prioritize sorting through Jiraiya's notes in what free time you have.
    • You may not be good at cryptography but you can probably tell the difference between spy networks and Icha Icha ideas.
  • Spend 1FP to have previously memorized every seal in the Tower's catalog.
    • Scribe out a copy of each (stay under surveillance if the clan is worried about you scribing seals)
    • Bring them to Asuma in addition to whatever descriptions you can think of, in case Leaf didn't have backup caches for any of them.
  • Adoption matters
    • Scout out minor clans that might have unused adoption slots and sound out how much they're worth to them.
  • Have tea with Ino and Yuno
    • Help Ino de-stress, commiserate if she'd appreciate the moral support.
    • Swap idioms and jokes from our different upbringings. We've got shark jokes, what do you have?
  • Skysliders
    • Regularly check in on the craftsmen and get progress reports.
    • Contribute any ideas or inspiration you've had recently.
    • Test their prototypes (use skywalkers if possible to make testing safer).
    • Maybe give an inspiring speech to raise morale.

[X] Action Plan: Flight, Family, and Iron Nerve

Checked stuff and you were right, @Inferno Vulpix. We are able to cozy back up with ISC. Have some thoughts for your plan:
[X] Action Plan: Flight, Family, and Iron Nerve
Are we gonna check this with the clan? I seem to recall this to be a thing.
You may not be good at cryptography but you can probably tell the difference between spy networks and Icha Icha ideas.
We have -1 Cryptography (represented as Cracking) thanks to the Consequence; I can't imagine what disaster would happen if we tried to do stuff with the notes. In all likelihood we'd just waste our time, but...time is a valuable resource and we don't wanna be spending our time doing nothing.
Bring them to Asuma in addition to whatever descriptions you can think of, in case Leaf didn't have backup caches for any of them.
I don't think "descriptions you can think of" is the best way to put this; maybe "descriptions you can recall"?
Swap idioms and jokes from our different upbringings. We've got shark jokes, what do you have?
If we're having calm discussion with Yuno and Ino, I think it'd be better to discuss the cultural differences between our villages of origin. Think about how Hazou and Keiko had hissy fits about Keiko/Shikamaru's wedding since they didn't have sharks or juggled clockwise. We would do well to combat the idea that different cultures doesn't mean barbarian or backwards, in Hazou's mind at the least.
Contribute any ideas or inspiration you've had recently.
But as Hazou neared the apex of his jump, he passed above Amatetsu's shop, directly over the exhaust pipe of Amatetsu's mighty Thousand-Yams Furnace. Its warm, steady updraft was caught by the boy's outflung arms, trapped momentarily by the cloth of his oversized shirt. It carried him just a bit further, just a touch higher at the peak of his leap, and he landed feet-first on top of the Mizukage's Tower, the subject of so many forlorn bets by so many genin-candidates in the past.
Hazou already knows about updrafts and how his "oversized shirt" can give him a lift to make otherwise-impossible jumps, IIRC we got him to come up with the idea of hot-air balloons this way. Maybe applying this, plus some observations on bats and similar flying animals like birds or bats or eagles or whatever, could help.

It seems easy to explain that "wind spirits like it when animal moves wings". I guess since we're going for fixed-wing flight, we can note that a hawk that glides around all day stays in the air without movement or flapping - a similar hawk-shaped-and-weighted object might be able to do the same.

More seriously, take a look at what being a summoner entails for Kagome:

Can't summons also reverse-summon their Summoner at any point? With or without their consent? That sounds like something that Kagome would have a serious problem with... (-100 Trust)

Also, I'm a sucker for some good character interaction. I vote for...

We should give the seal blanks to Asuma as a contest submission
The old Tower seal blanks? I disagree. We should give them over because it's the right thing to do in helping Leaf recover from the Collapse. Maybe there's something we can pull where we let him decide if it's a contest submission or not, but I feel like we should err on the side of "it was your stuff to begin with."

@Inferno Vulpix We should talk to Kagome about Shadow Clone. And then get Asuma to teach him, if he has the chakra.

Also, I genuinely do not think that leaving skysliders to civilian craftsmen would do anything but waste money given what Mari said about them.

Lastly, not voting for any plan that does not address the whole "we're squatting on Konoha land with about 500 civvies" thing.

Do you mean just everything in the plan in general?

The idea was more to avoid the actual cryptography but instead go through the decoded stuff to organize it and filter out the stuff Asuma needs, since Kagome is apparently not super good at that and also his time on the matter is better spent on the cryptography part of it.

Do you want me to make it more clear, then?

Good point.

I'll see if I can find a good way to phrase these, thanks.

@Inferno Vulpix We should talk to Kagome about Shadow Clone. And then get Asuma to teach him, if he has the chakra.
Given that we're still in Asuma's office and Kagome hasn't left on his mission, I think we can at least cover a) asking Kagome if he wants it/can get it, and b) asking Asuma what the protocol is for requesting permission to learn it (which we can handily use to help evaluate Akane's situation).

e: more responses
Also, I genuinely do not think that leaving skysliders to civilian craftsmen would do anything but waste money given what Mari said about them.
I personally disagree, since if we just left them to their own devices they'd naturally feel no obligation to succeed but the plan here is to keep them motivated and be involved enough that it's hard to pass laziness by us. We may not be suited to do the job ourselves but I think we're quite capable of getting them to honestly attempt the project.
Lastly, not voting for any plan that does not address the whole "we're squatting on Konoha land with about 500 civvies" thing.
This is a job for Mari, personally, and I'm hesitant to just toss that into the plan. What do the rest of you think?
Your plan implies long time skips if it has us check on progress reports on skysliders. So as is, you are having Hazou do very little over long time
The intent was more 'begin making such check-ins', I should probably clarify that.

Well, there it is. After four years worth of quest and many a trial and tribulation, we've finally reached the milestone of actually getting to inflict orbital bombardment upon our enemies. Congratulations, everyone.

Aerial kinetic bombardment, at best.
A sub-orbital trajectory is way out of our range, an orbital bombardment even more so.

If they go as high as possible the munitions will hit the ground at 0.5 km / s. A sub-orbital bombardment would need to be somewhere north of 4 km / s, an orbital one would be somewhere around 10 km / s.

Edit: Yes, that means we'll get a sonic boom from the last few seconds of the drop.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail You guys asked for Jiraiya seals a while ago. It's in my technique doc you guys have access to, too. Here it is for public reference:

Jiraiya Seal [in his notes]: Fire Eater Seal

Based on the seal Jiraiya used in canon to combat Itachi's Amaterasu. This seal saps the fire-nature chakra out of its immediate environment (~2 meters range) over its duration. It lasts a minute, and spontaneously combusts at the end of its duration if it absorbed any fire-nature chakra. If it does not combust, it may be reactivated.

For every round a fire technique (fire seals are unaffected unless they explicitly use fire-nature chakra) is within the area of the seal -- for which instant techniques are considered within the area for a round -- the technique's Effect is lowered by 2 and it is penalized by 6 on any dice rolls made. If the technique's Effect is reduced below 0, then it fizzles to nothing.

Pretty much.

More of a "I'm generally concerned that Hazou's negative Cracking level will make it so he won't even be able to organize it properly".

We're only using chakra construct MEW which lasts 30s, so we're only getting ~300m/s.

Here are some quick things that should fit in plans lasting > 1 day
these can be offscreened
  • assign someone to bond with yuno, especially since Akane is leaving
  • Delegate buying stuff at a discount, paying with goketsu tokens, from those merchants we invited to Leaf
  • did Mari hirecivilians yet? If so, make sure Hazou knows who he can delegate what stuff to
    • can any of them decode jiraiya's notes? if not, are there any civilians who could that we can adopt?
  • delegate someone to skim what's useful in the Nara Library and report, if it's available before the contest ends
  • have hazou do meditation/introspection. for defence against the Out
  • seal bank job satisfaction. have civilians as clerks. ninja at set times in the day go to the bank to seal all the stuff
  • spend 1 FP to have bought 100 (or however much in stock) copies of each publically buyable seal from the Tower before the Collapse
these might need onscreened
  • Talk to Asuma (he's right there) about compensation for the Oro estate (can we officially own the estate we on as compensation), and biosealing and shadow clone permission
  • ask tsunade about oro trustworthiness
  • do we have a secretary from Mari hiring one or Noburi finding one? If not, hire akane's dad (with Akane's permission) as secretary. We need one, pay him ludicrous money, guilt him by saying this will help the clan and by extension Akane a lot

  • Before you leave:
    • Ask Kagome if he's interested in learning Shadow Clone. Two Kagomes could decrypt twice as fast, after all.
    • Ask Asuma what the protocol is on requesting clearance to the technique.
  • Make sure to prioritize sorting through Jiraiya's notes in what free time you have.
    • You may not know anything about cryptography but you can probably sort and organize the decrypted stuff and save Kagome some time.
  • Spend 1FP to have previously memorized every seal in the Tower's catalog.
    • Scribe out a copy of each (stay under surveillance if the clan is worried about you scribing seals)
    • Bring them to Asuma in addition to whatever descriptions you can recall, in case Leaf didn't have surviving backup caches for any of them.
  • Adoption matters
    • Scout out minor clans that might have unused adoption slots and sound out how much they're worth to them.
  • Have tea with Ino and Yuno
    • Goal: help Ino de-stress and help Yuno feel included.
    • Swap idioms and jokes from our different upbringings. We've got shark jokes, what do you have?
    • Try and discuss the differences between our cultures, but keep anyone from calling each other barbarians or anything.
  • Skysliders
    • Begin regularly checking in on the craftsmen and getting progress reports.
    • Contribute any ideas or inspiration you think might help (such as your insights on updrafts from way back in Mist)
    • Test their prototypes (use skywalkers if possible to make testing safer).
    • Maybe give an inspiring speech to raise morale.
How in the heck is it a Mari job when Hazou's the clan's accountant?
To be clear, I think that talking to Asuma about formalizing our ownership of the Shimura Estate is a job for Mari. If you mean something else by what you said, I confess I don't know what it is.

Feel that there should be a bit more than simple encouragement to get civilians to do the work. I'd recommend coming to them with designs and paying them to test them out, then pay them more money if they can come up with good designs (to incentivize them to put effort into it, make it a contest by paying only the best designs from testing).
This is a job for Mari, personally, and I'm hesitant to just toss that into the plan. What do the rest of you think?
Following @Evenstar's advice from before I don't think asking her thoughts on the squatting situation is an issue, but getting her to do the work probably will be (please correct me if I'm wrong here). OTOH I'm not sure it'll change much if Hazou does the work instead with Mari's consultation.

Also @Inferno Vulpix DO NOT USE SKYWALKERS FOR TESTING SKYGLIDERS THAT IS TREASON DO NOT AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
