Well, that was certainly a Very Mori Christmas Episode. I think I might need some more eggnog before dissecting that.

Also, this has many implications! Yay! 400ish XP away from some shadow clone!

How the fuck was she allowed to demonstrate one of Leaf's top-secret, jōnin-only jutsu and discuss its details and limitations in front of a Mist analyst??

Also, that was pretty amazing (and horrible) to read @Velorien well done!

Note that some of her spending was to get her CR up.

@Velorien Is Shadow Clone a Wind Release technique? It's put under that in Keiko's character sheet, but it seems strange for it to be classified as one...
[facepalm] I don't suppose you'd tell me how to shuffle things down a line without breaking everything? That or I could wait for one of the other QMs to become available, but it's Christmas.

Highlight all the stuff (J20 to M20 and down), Command + X (Cut), then click on J21 and Command + V (Paste). That should do things.

Or you could give me temporary command-level access and I'll take care of it.

Done, thanks. It should have been obvious, but I was just afraid it would break the formulae, etc.

Wait, there's–

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I mean, I could skip tomorrow's update (I have a mild fever anyway, which in no way influenced the content of the above), but breaking Keiko is really more of a hobby, and it would be nice to have the opportunity to do something properly creative.

I don't understand. Why was Keiko's Snowflake either more suicidal or more brave than Keiko? After all, if experience reintegrates then neither of the two die, or both of them do, depending on your viewpoint.

So either Snowflake wanted the whole of them to die and this was an attack on the original's psyche, or Snowflake wanted to reveal all of this and so somehow didn't completely copy over Keiko's shames and fears.

Maybe it's that the Frozen Skein suppresses initiative and thus either actually protected Keiko from taking that leap into oblivion, or prevented her from sharing concrete information that would change her life in any one extreme direction, or both.

Then there is the fact that Snowflake wasn't only freed of the Frozen Skein, but also of other worn on mental patterns, like the very voice and vocabulary of her own thoughts over who knows how many years. Which could mean that even for a person without Bloodlines Shadow Clone does not create anywhere near a perfect copy of the mind. Or that a mind is both fragile and extremely quick to self-repair and that ripping Frozen Skein from Keiko's psyche created a mind that immediately fell in on itself and yet could reform itself into a functional configuration within just a few seconds.

Speaking of Bloodlines, I am looking forward to Hazō's first clone, who will be terrible at, well, anything that involves muscles. Other than playing a specific song on the flute I guess.

Also, @ the QMs, have you thought about how to handle the hivemind connection when it comes to Shadow Clones? All kinds of interesting possible configurations come to mind. Now that I think of it, please don't spoil us those rules. It will be so fun and interesting dealing with whatever comes out on the other side of this amazing little jutsu.

>tfw Hazou gets a SC and it communicates solely through eldritch flute music.

QUICK HACK THE RADIO HACK THE TELEVISION BROADCAST TO VELORIEN'S PARTNER THAT SHE NEEDS TO SAVE CHRISTMASKEIKO

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Between Breaking through the Heartbreaker and the upcoming update. Look forward to finding out Keiko's condition in same.
I don't understand. Mari was here. How did Mari and Hazou interact between last chapter an now? Sitting in silence. Acting like nothing happened? Because anything else would have influenced at least some minor things here, no?

Also, very interesting that Snowflake had zero comments related to Mari. Because couldn't that have been a right and proper mess, for everyone involved. Truly @Velorien, your mercy knows no bounds. Is it time to recall your Evil Badge?

I would have thought Naruto would be extremely careful not show her anything. When Jiraiya told us about it he said the other nations didn't know the clones were intelligent or transferred memories, and that that was a secret within Leaf even:

He raised both hands, gesturing for the genin to calm down. "Hang on, let me do the rundown. First of all, Shadow Clone is a top-secret jutsu of Leaf. Sure, people outside the village know that it exists, but I'm not sure any not-Leaf people know that the clones are fully intelligent, or that they transfer memories. Even inside the village, we keep that information pretty tight. You are not to talk about it with anyone aside from the people in this room and Shikaku. Even if they have a written document with my signature on it saying that it's okay to talk to them, you do not talk to anyone about Shadow Clone except for this family and Shikaku. Clear?"

Jiraiya makes sure to hide the fact that the clones are perfect copies/have memory transfer when using the jutsu around non-leaf ninja:
.

When Jiraiya walked back into the room, his movements were not quite right. His stride was slightly different, the way he turned and closed the door behind himself just a hair off. Few aside from the Kurosawa would have noticed, but to Ren the truth was like a scream: This was not Jiraiya.

"Are you all right, Jiraiya?" Ren asked, the hairs on the back of her neck tingling.

"I am Jiraiya's clone," he said, offering them all a shallow bow. "He is currently on his way to the proctor station at the East Gate. As soon as he realized that your students were also at risk, he sent me back to notify you of the danger. If any of your students are capable of draining chakra, it is absolutely imperative that you order them not to drain the pangolins. Draining chakra from a summon is incredibly dangerous and will probably kill the person who attempts it."

And I'd expect Naruto would be even more cautious/paranoid about Shadow Clone opsec since it's his signature jutsu and since an enemy knowing the details is what led to his capture and torture.

I guess that Ami was too indispensable not to keep in the loop. But If I were Asuma/Naruto I would just say that if Keiko can't learn the jutsu without leaking its secrets to Mist then Keiko shouldn't learn it at all!

"Go away. I need time to process."

Why would you say something like that when the actual update is still to come? Now I feel a need to fulfil my obligations.

It is a fascinating question which you are welcome to ask him.

I would hope it's not a direct connection, but a more in-universe explanation of Hazo's hivemind as some sort of multiple personalities.

Well, I guess that answers the question of how much influence the Frozen Skein has on Keiko's personality...

I don't expect it to be anything exciting.

HAZOU1: You are also a Hazou? Aware of the intrinsic shittiness of the world and the fact that reality as a whole is pretty much a weak cobweb? No reason at all not to work very hard to make it less crappy and awful?

HAZOU2: Yup.

HAZOU1: Cool, so thats that then.

HAZOU2: Stop bullshitting, we've got work to do.

I expect for SC Hazou to be a literal open book because he can no longer IN his expressions and tone of voice.
