Picking up an idea I had a few days ago that I didn't get any response to, would a seal still work if we made it normally with chakra (blood) ink and waited for it to dry and infused it and then dipped the seal into bloodless ink of the same color to make the seal invisible to anyone who would want to reverse engineer it?

If the seal would still work, it seems like a viable way of preserving opsec on captured skywalkers and whatever over seals we might invent and want to hand out to Leaf forced but keep Leaf only.

It wouldn't have mattered much before with most combat seals being things all the villages knew about so people might not have thought to do it, but it matters a lot now.

Where did you get the impression that seals required blood ink? As far as I'm aware it's just regular ink infused with chakra.

No blood need be involved in chakra ink. Here's the process that Hazō uses:

Hazō sat down crosslegged, pulling out the lump of brass that he used for infusing. As he had done a thousand times over the last year he buffed the lump on the leather of his belt to be sure that it was free of any dirt, meanwhile reciting the short nonsense rhyme that served to clear the chakra pathways. He dipped the brass in the ink and blew gently across the surface, pushing the tiniest pulse of chakra through his fingertips and into the ink...

Ah, thank you! That's weird. I could have sworn I read somewhere that sealmasters made chakra ink by mixing a tiny bit of their blood into it. I wonder how I got that idea. Maybe it was another Naruto fic or something.

So, does that mean that adding ink to the page later after the original chakra ink is dried will cause the chakra to flow awry, or will it stick with the ink it was infused into?

Also, while I'm thinking on the matter, what happens if you were to cover a page in ink and infuse that? Does a sealing failure require seals of some sort, and a plain page would just do nothing?

AIUI any piece of paper (or reasonable equivalent) with chakra-ink on it is technically a seal blank, in the sense that it can be infused. But I would assume infusing a seal blank is an auto-fail if it isn't a seal you know.

My working model of seals is that the designs matter and are required for the chakra to start mucking about with the laws of physics. Without shapes of ink the chakra isn't being directed to do anything and would just dissipate. I could be completely wrong.

No there aren't and none -- he always uses chakra ink because it's cheap, easily available, and works well. And safe. ("Hey," Murasakibara says, "I'm going to use slitherbeast blood instead. It's chakra-rich and I bet it'll keep the effect going twice as long." Cost us three good men before we could seal the tear into that hellscape, and one of the abominations ate my desk. I really liked that desk.)
