For the hive mind, people keep talking about this "schizo competency" but honestly I can't think of an instance where we have made a plan that is so utterly brilliant that a sharp 13 year old could not have come up with it in the given time frame. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Keep in mind that a battlefield is an extremely chaotic environment. Being able to come up with a great battleplan on the fly is not easy at all.

And we should describe them as program code1. That way we can run simulations using the SOPs to optimize them for a wide variety of combat environments.

[1]: Code is just a form of recursive, self referential list.
I swear to god if we end up actually making a program to simulate combat for the sake of this quest, I am going to laugh my ass off. ...although those might already exist. Hm.

I believe that's essentially what we did in Let The Bodies Hit The Floor. Well, except that we did it all by hand. I'm pretty sure there were probabilities involved in the planning.
Right. Back to the important things.

Noburi and Keiko tied up, Weapons/Poison girl watches over them. Fists and Rock guys are closing in on Akane, Hazou skulking in the bushes.
Mari away with enemy jounin, another enemy team 6 miles West. Samuraiville is to the South.

Here's my variation of the upcoming battle plan. Just trimmed down expanded :V the earlier versions, really.

[X] Let The Bodies Hit The Floor

Battle Preparations: These plans are made in the 30 min Hazou is recovering from being almost knocked out by the Jounin and developing his plans.
  • Dispel - unlikely to do anything, do it anyway. It's a good habbit to have.
  • Make a mask to protects us from inhaling things.
    • Fold veil in several layers with crushed leaves/moss stuffed between them, pour water on it if we have any, tie it over our lower face, use chakra adhesion to help keep it all together if necessary.
  • Camouflage is good.
    • Smear mud and leaves into our clothing/hair/exposed skin (should help w/contact poison as well) so we blend in better with surroundings.
  • Observe the ninja, mark things which will help in combat (right/left handed, injuries, equipment, movement ticks, relative grace, evidence of nervousness/fear, etc.)
  • Observe our immediate surroundings. Mark substitution targets (ie logs, large boulders). Figure out which direction is West. Don't run there.

Battle Plan:

  • Chakra Boost (see below) Sneak Attack the two ninjas accosting Akane.
    • Try to take out the ninjutsu user with the first attack.
      • Stay on him until he is dead/disabled, aim to kill.
  • If Weapons has joined the battle, tag team with Akane to take her down. Otherwise focus on the Fists.
    • Don't breath the poison, hold your breath. Avoid the poison cloud.
      • If poison is used, after combat has finished (or when there's a spare moment and you're confident there aren't poison spores near your face) remove mask and exhale strongly, hold your breath, move away, inhale.
  • Attack the last ninja after the first two are down.
    • If Weapons somehow missed the commotion completely, Sneak Attack Take Two. RE Poison, see above.
  • If one opponent left, Keiko/Noburi are awake and combat is going well, have Akane free them so we can turn this into 3(4) vs 1.
  • Try to take Weapons alive if possible, dead if necessary.
  • Do not allow enemies to escape.
  • If hostage situation arises, INTIMIDATE!
Chakra Budget

Use the roughly the following chakra budget. Keep 8 CP in reserve for an emergency Substitution-jutsu but feel free to spend more on the last enemy if there's some to spare. Otherwise use Hazou's best judgement.
  • Ninjutsu guy
    • Taijutsu: 0 CP
    • Tactical Movement: 10 CP
  • Taijutsu guy
    • Taijutsu: 10 CP
    • Tactical Movement: 5 CP
  • Weapons girl
    • Taijutsu: 5 CP
    • Tactical Movement 10 CP
Post Battle:
  • If victorious, release Keiko and Noburi, wake them up and arm them, if impossible carry them.
  • If we judge combat was unlikely to attract outside attention grab our gear and loot enemies. Err on the side of caution, have Noburi use clones for testing if possible. Be vigilant.
  • Vanish into the forest away from the other enemy team. Try to conceal marks of our passage.
  • Trust Inoue to find us, head to the place Yujin met us (unless we made a meet-up location, in which case head there).
  • If unsuccessful and caught, look for escape opportunities. Keep the code words in mind. Trust in sensei. Pray.
  • If enemies do escape, pursue briefly, but prioritize freeing Keiko and Noburi, then fleeing.

@eaglejarl @Velorien Any word on Wind Release: Wind Wall?

Not yet, sorry. Between Velorien being in the middle of a move and me being in the middle of starting a company we aren't connecting as much as we normally do, and we've got a backlog in the "questions in need of answers" doc. There is the info in the original post, of course. Marked for Death: A Rational Naruto Quest | Page 253

*Eats last of MealSquare* Okay, lunch is finished. Back to the grindstone! *returns to staring at the Racket GUI and graphics-drawing docco until his eyes bleed*

I do think, ignoring possible strange interactions, that from the team perspective, we should volunteer to go first, so our more senior (and paranoid) members can use our experiance to at least partially validate the process.

Why are, your commas in, strange places?
Actually, that looks about right to me. Parenthetical commas around "ignoring possible strange interaction" and "we should volunteer to go first".

e: Wait no, the latter clause is necessary for the sentence, there's an unnecessary comma preceding it.

@eaglejarl you gonna try Soylent's new foodbars? (He says as he procrastinates on the update because dialog is hard.)

Probably not. I know John Maxwell, one of the founders at MealSquares.com, and would like to support him. In addition, the product works well for me and is very affordable. (Less than $3 / meal.) I know people who drink a lot of Soylent shakes and it's been described to me as "fine, but gritty". I haven't tried it myself but, on the other hand, MealSquares don't need mixing or prep beyond unwrapping, can be thrown in your backpack and carried around easily, and contain chocolate. (!)

Okay, question time!

@eaglejarl, @Velorien: Forgive me if this has been answered already, but do we know whether Hidden Sound exists? If so what do we know about it? If not, what do we know about the ninja of Rice Country beyond the "The Rice ninja force is rumoured to have taken a turn towards being surprisingly competent for a minor village this last decade or so." we see in the player document? How good are they at border patrol relative to leaf or other countries we've popped into?
You don't know if HS exists. Inoue knows that the borders are surprisingly tight and that there are rumors Orochimaru has been seen in the area. Then again, there's rumors about him popping up in almost every part of the EN including the Mizukage's bathroom.

How much chakra could you expect to fill a liter of water before it reaches it saturation point?
Noburi can put as much chakra as he wants into his water up to the limit of his capacity. Note that Wakahisa barrels retain chakra in the water indefinitely, but only if in close proximity (arms length at most) to a Wakahisa. If away from one for more than a few minutes, they start losing chakra at the same rate as any container. Typically a container will lose all its chakra within 2-6 hours, but sometimes its much slower or faster. (Watsonian: Rate is variable, depending on many difficult-to-predict factors. Doylist: We aren't going to keep track of it and will just use our best judgement in each case.)

@eaglejarl, @Velorien: How much can the medical jutsu that Noburi knows prevent scarring? I'm asking at his current skill level. Though knowing how skillful he'd need to be in order to prevent scarring would be useful.
From a minor wound, no scars. From anything more substantial, probably some.

Are there summoners trapped in the summon realm whose return points are too dangerous? Would it be possible for summoners to survive for a period of time within the summon realm so that if we found the human in the summon realm and made the area where they escaped from safe for them to come back to?
Respectively: You don't know. Yes, they could survive there indefinitely. Yes, if there were such a person then you could 'rescue' them as you describe provided they could describe their target location clearly enough.

Kagome, are there any differences in chakra ink and what other mediums are their for drawing seals with that you know about and or have worked with?
No there aren't and none -- he always uses chakra ink because it's cheap, easily available, and works well. And safe. ("Hey," Murasakibara says, "I'm going to use slitherbeast blood instead. It's chakra-rich and I bet it'll keep the effect going twice as long." Cost us three good men before we could seal the tear into that hellscape, and one of the abominations ate my desk. I really liked that desk.)

@eaglejarl @Velorien How heritable is ninjaness? i.e. how likely is a kid with one ninja parent to have enough chakra to be a ninja? A kid with two ninja parents?
Ninjaness (incidentally, the GDocs spellchecker is okay with the word 'ninjaness') is extremely heritable. It's very unusual for the child of two ninja parents to NOT be capable of becoming a ninja. It does happen, but it's really rare. For with only one ninja parent, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't inherit ninja abilities. You aren't aware of any actual research on the frequency, though.
