I am actually really enthused at the idea of Hazou having the Sleight of Hand stunt and being able to pull off minor feats of prestidigitation. Seems like there are all sorts of applications we could think up for that, whether it be entertaining some children with party tricks, picking someone's pocket, planting and activating a seal in a room under someone's nose, etc.

Combat applications, too, for one-turn-trap seals.

So we don't want to take Haru with us to the Yakuza? I liked that idea because it let Haru learn Hazou's circumstances in a fairly natural way.

Hazou tells Noburi and Keiko the details about what his mother said to him when they met.

If we want to talk about the deal Ren offered Hana, I think we should do it under an Air Dome. Don't recall if there was anything else in that conversation worth being paranoid over.

We can also just withhold that piece of info until we want to discuss clan diplomacy - that will have to go under a dome anyway.

Probably want to discuss clan diplomacy with Jiraiya present only who probably has better privacy seals than we do.

Good points, I'll just delete that section.

Vagueness is futile here. The others would be able to guess that a seal loud enough to be heard that far away would be cripplingly loud at combat distance.

Does that mean you think Hazou shouldn't offer it?

Looking for ideas fro the thread here. If you can come up with lot of other contingencies, we can can drop that one.

I'm not sure. But we should either go full disclosure or full OPSEC in this case. If we really want banshees as a trump card for the tournament... then full OPSEC.

But I will note that only 16/300 ninja reach the tournament. If we want in we seriously need to be taking out the top candidates before it starts.

Hmm, I'm going to ponder this one a while.

And to do that, we need information on who they are. For instance, the Yakuza almost certainly have some idea who the top candidates are so that they can run a betting pool... shit, even if they don't know anything about the Exam Events, they could be a gold mine on what odds genin have to advance to the Tournament. Just asking what the current odds are for placing a wager would be very informative for who are considered prominent enough ninja that the Yakuza are even offering odds.

Hmm, but then they might refuse to sell Event information... nah, it's not like they have a Gambling Board to report to.

Just realised: Sleight of Hand rolls vs Alertness... which everyone will have a high value for because of initiative and genjutsu. Hazou's Deceit most likely won't keep up with the Alertness of his XP-cohort. As opposed to the max(Deceit, Empathy) that Deceit usually rolls against.

The stunt's only 10XP, so probably still worth it, but we shouldn't expect to win the roll very often.

Hazou noticed that Yamamoto tensed up as soon as Nara brought up buying the seals. Buying our way of a problem ticks him off?
This read to me as "Clan kid using his clan wealth to buy his way out of a problem". Same general thrust of dislike, but a different source which would probably be relevant in the talks.

It might also go without saying a little, but the 'discuss how to find the exam' section could use a caveat for 'none of these are needed if we get the location from the Yakuza'.

I got criticism on a prior iteration for assuming too much OOC knowledge from Haru's interlude, so I was trying to keep it to what Hazou has specifically noticed.

Well, we might want to do it just to verify their information. After all, they're crooks- you can't trust 'em. ;)

So there is a quick code we can use with our team. When one of our team has a question we can start the question with a codeword, our nickname for each other and the first word of our response will be the answer. The rest of the sentence will be some form of obfuscation.

@Briefvoice : I'd recommend adding something like a few small macerators filled with something that creates a strong scent, that Kiba can track.

Ask Ino for advice on smelly things like flowers. Essential oils in shops or perfumes would be perfect. Might want to minimize throwing money around to keep haru from being pissed.

Whenever the proctors try to clean Hazō off, he just pops another scent macerator (ideally of a different scent each time, in a pre-determined order, to minimize other followers).

Oh and make some extras, mostly so that if we ever have to fight Kiba, we can make him smell pretty. (Aspect "You smell ... let me fix that." Good for mucking up his scent tracking and riling him up for smelling like a wet dog.)

Edit: God's damnit we need to expand our macerator load out. There's so many things we can do with it. Like, drop in some hair, oil, and igniter you'll get a smell bomb. Not only is it a bomb, but it'll smell awful.

I forget if our Abnormal Mental Character changes how we interact with mental jutsu or not. I know we don't have any special resistance to genjutsu, but I'm not sure if that's perfectly general?
As far as I can recall, the only time you've ever been in a genjutsu was when Mari hit you with Truth Lost in the Fog early on. You were unable to break out of it, but TLF is one of those trump-card jutsu that breaks certain normal rules. You have never been mind-probed by a Yamanaka so you don't know how that works.

Fair point, though I would be surprised if there was an attack skill/jutsu that didn't require a roll. Want to clarify, @eaglejarl?
We do not have such a skill at this time, but I wouldn't say it's impossible. In general it's more a situational QM-judgement thing.

So then do we not roll to hit against them at all if we're attacking from ambush? That seems to be the implication.
You normally would, but I judged that in these particular circumstances -- in public, tired, standard level of watchfulness but reasonably confident in their safety -- it was reasonable for it to be an auto-hit.

I would be hella amusing if Hazao autotrumps Yamanaka mind techniques by the sheer force of thoughts by the questbase.
