Who woulda thought that the hivemind makes the monumental decision to go to Leaf instead of just planning for a suicide-mission?

Is this all according to kekekeke on the part of the QMs?

They may not have expected us to go directly to Leaf, but they probably expected us to at least try to get help from Jiraiya on the mission, which would inevitably lead to us no longer faffing about since there's no way we could keep Skywalkers secret.

We'd already decided to go to Leaf. Or rather, Hazō did.

He means doing so right now, rather than waiting some more.

I just realized that we're going to have to apologize to Akane about the whole Hazou x Ino thing.

This is gonna suuuuuck.

Eh, not that much. I think she'll just be much happier to have him back and safe.

And apologizing is not that hard with some CCJ. "I realized after some introspection and talking to the team that what I did was wrong and stupid, and I'm sorry if I hurt you. What I care about most is being with you in a way that makes both of us happy, and all I need to be happy in a relationship is you and nobody else." Plus a nice apology gift to show how much she means to Hazou at the usual standards of the team for gift giving, which is probably the hardest part to think of.

Now, dealing with Ino on the other hand...

You have the luxury of having laws in place to prevent this sort of thing.

We, the missing-nin of the story, do not. Who's gonna stick up for our rights, after all?

Of course outlaws like us don't have rights.

I'm talking about our ignorance of Leaf's laws which we are implicitly agreeing to when we don't know the specifics of them.

By attempting to become Leaf citizens we agree to abide by all of the laws that Leaf citizens uphold. We haven't had the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with those laws yet. My main concern is that we have made no effort to rectify this glaringly obvious problem.

Even if you are ignorant of the law you can still commit a crime. I want us to learn what we are subjecting ourselves to so our ignorance doesn't harm us later on.

Honestly doubt it's any different than Mist in the sense, all we need to do is "don't be rude" and "listen to your superiors".

You know what, I'm stoked at the possibility of getting the Capybara scroll. We can get us some elite infiltrators.

"I'm totes a crocodile. Nothing to see here. Go about your business, fellow crocs."

Eh, we're joining Leaf.

Unless the Pangolins start up a massive fuss, chances are Jiraiya'll take the scroll and give it to one of his Jonin elite. Maybe Asuma or Kurenai. Or Anko.

Or Naruto, come to think of it; since multi-summoners may have been retcon'd Jiraiya can't really give his Toad contract to Naruto, now can he?

Probably to get us to stop being cowardly fucking shits who keep faffing about and get us to go and do something.
Can you stop with the hyperbole? I think it's very much preventing participants from looking at your argument reasonably.

Like, you may have logical arguments when you express your dissatisfaction with my plan, but your tone of voice is very off-putting and makes it hard to read, for me at least.
I'm sorry. I just think these people need this crap beaten into their skulls with a goddamn club. They're seriously voting to faff about and lighthouse again.
WTF are you trying to say?

official staff communication This had gotten several pages back before our creaky bureaucracy got to it, but I think it's still worth bringing up.

I get how invested one can be in Quests like this one. That's fantastic, but it also requires caution. Please remember to be polite, kind and considerate to one another. I understand how emotive and trying disagreements over Quest decisions can be, for all that it's fiction, but it is almost never helped by getting heated. Just take five and chill if you find your blood rising. It makes the quest a more pleasant place to be for others, and you'll probably do better in the argument. This has been a lovely quest so far with no serious incidents, and I think we'd all like to keep it that way. Please try to keep this in mind in future.

Thanks for your time.

[moderate and kind post]

Thanks, Admiral Skippy. I appreciate both the fact that you're looking out for us and that you did it with a nudge instead of a hammer. It's one of the many reasons I like SV over some other boards: the mods are reasonable.

Point of information in case it's relevant: my Picard maneuver in reply to Enjou was not about anything negative he said. Yesterday being April Fool's Day I was trolling the thread with a lot of invisitext "spoilers", the first line of the first one being "O+V not have 'see invis' addon! b discreet!", which Enjou then posted for all to see. This was exactly what I was hoping for[1], but I had to play along or give away the joke. He subsequently blanked the post to hide the "spoilers" from the prying eyes of the other QMs.

[1] All according to keikaku.... :>

@Admiral Skippy : Pardon the second post, but I figured you'd like already seen the above and moved on, and editing in names doesn't ping the person.

Out of curiosity, do you follow MfD or did you get a report on what was going on?

<crosses fingers that it's the first one because that would be full of ego-boo>

(Save 17xp. We're definitely not going to be able to afford more decep after that.)

Low chunin decep die on a decep-specialist is calc'd at 29 using the relative costs (although those calcs have now been called into question due to an unexplained discrepancy in the relative costs for medical skills calcs).

How long did Kagome estimate Hazou to reach Jounin level in Sealing if he dumped all his XP into it? 6 to 9 months? 6 months at 4 XP / day is only 720 XP. It takes 820 XP just to reach Sealing 30, so is the average jounin Sealmaster not even at Sealing 30? Or is this accounting for the Iron Nerve INT-skill buff which hasn't yet been finalized? Even accounting for the 325 XP Hazou currently has unspent, he'd still barely reach Sealing 33 in 6 months at 4 XP / day.

@MadScientist:

Taijutsu 40 (low Chunin in my book) is 1250XP.

Deception is Presence*3, Manipulation*2, Composure*3.

2*2*sum(1 to 12)+2*sum(1 to 17)+sum(1 to 34) is 1213.

So low Chunin Deception (or Diplomacy) is around level 34.

You know, we might ought to stop saying stuff like this since we're part of Hazou's psyche...

Hm. I'd kind of prefer diplo since we're gonna be in Leaf, tbh...

Chuunin sealing by XP is 25, Jounin sealing by XP is 31.

Christ, this thread moves fast. I thought discussion was just about finished last night!

Also @Enjou, sorry to have taken up your editing time with concerns that were mostly irrelevant (didn't know Olí had said emergency codes were okay, and if eaglejarl's not stopping before negotiations those are way more important).

I do wish you'd edited the "No mindscans. Ever." bit; I find it pretty frightening. But it'll hopefully come up when Hazou workshops plans with Mari, and if Mari's doing negotiations she'll make it come across better. So yay for structuring this safely. :)
