I agree. My vote is for Iron to complete Noburi's training (if feasible), then go from there.

I'm against going to Iron. We've been there so many times that it has become a pattern. We left a barrel there, and if any of our enemies figure that out they know we will come back. Meaning it will be a good investment for them to set some sort of trap up there.

I'm sort of repeating myself, but this is not a minor point. Especially with the meta game knowledge that someone is tracking us with the barrels.

Sand has flight-gliders and nowhere to hide

They can't see everything and 5 ninjas make a smaller profile to spot than the army we were working with when the quest started.

Every nation is going to have something to spot us, we will just have to try our best and take some risks if we want to go anywhere at all.

Not to mention, it won't matter if they spot us if we cross over to Claw and Earth fast enough. They won't follow us there.

Claw/Fang: I'm saying NO to traveling between two countries with such increased tensions. Both sides have reason to suspect us even moreso than the standard "missing-nin = KILL" response.

Alternatively, there's actual work there for deniable assets.

We don't actual have to take the work, but we can pretend that we are going to talk ourselves out of trouble if we get accosted by them.

Mountain: If your final suggested destination is Mountain I feel it'd be safer to go through Iron/Waterfall, take a boat to Earth Country (or travel along the coast through Waterfall), and travel across Earth to Mountain.

We would have to cross the whole Earth and it would take us very close to their village. This is way more dangerous than the short jaunt through Wind I'm envisioning.

I thought we only went there once, though we stayed for a long time. When was the second time?

Fair enough, but I would really like us to have some concrete ideas for getting Waka's medicals to 10.

Second time was a brief stint there to get healed before we took on Arikada.

Still, though... I don't think it's fair to Noburi to deny him the ability to improve his skill in medical ninjutsu when we just got him kicked out of Leaf. :/

Just before Arikada mission.

Fairness doesn't really factor into it. If we fight Zabuza, we die. It's hard to learn medicine when you are dead.

There are other med-nin in the world, and we'll be on the lookout for one. We'll get Nobby trained up one day.

@Twofold How do you propose we go from Rivers to Wind to Fang? to Mountain? From checking the map I notice that Rivers' hidden village is near the northwestern border to Sand, which would force us to take an extended walk through Wind to avoid going through there. There's also the Hidden Sand Village located near the eastern border, making travel even more difficult.

Hm. Do you think going through Waterfalls into Earth (into Fang) would be better? It'd avoid any hidden villages but take us closer to Iron (and in general through stronger nations).

Can we mitigate the risk by asking Jiraiya what the situation in Iron is at this point? Especially since this is something for Noburi's benefit, and he's guiltless?

General situation of Iron doesn't matter if there's a trap there set specifically for us.

The problem is that I want to train our Stealth up to a reasonable level before heading off to our actual destination. Currently a low end chuunin will spot and track us.

River seems big enough and has enough traffic that we could feasibly stay there for a week. I'm not sure if the same thing is doable in Waterfall. Maybe if we went there through Iron and stayed on the Northern side, that is probably less patrolled.

I guess I would be okay with going to Iron for a short period, as long as we go nowhere near Nobby's sensei or any place we have already been at.

Running through bigger nations like Earth and Wind is probably doable, as long as we don't stop, and make sure to cross borders quickly. Whichever side we come from to Claw or Fang, I would like to see us loop around on the other big nations side to make sure that no one intelligence machine knows both are starting point and destination.

All of them, by my reckoning. Jiraiya gets seen with us again it probably hits his rep again, he doesn't want that. Also, don't take the risk. Not worth it for information we can get from other sources.
Uh, he IS being seen with us again. He's seeing us off, and giving Kagome his seals.

After this.

He's escorting us out, but once we leave thats it for the time being while the political dust settles and he deals with the fallout.
Let's make both of our lives easier by getting the hell out of dodge.

That being said, I think it would be wise to choose to go somewhere where we don't have to trek through the Land of Fire for a bit, eh? Avoiding Leaf nin for a while seems like a reasonable thing to do.

Hmm...

We'd better get Leaf a useful present for the next time we see them, if only to win J back some credibility.

I've already proposed bloodline samples for Kabuto, but is there anything else people think we might be able to get?
  • Steal techniques from minor villages/foreign missing nin?
  • Steal/invent seals?
  • Intel on factions in foreign areas that we could spy on?
  • Stuff bought from the pangolins?

I don't think so. The clan kids were by and large associating with us because they were ordered to be our minders. They weren't responsible for us being in Leaf in the first place, and were just following orders.

Almost all of them were demonstrably friendly to us. Especially Ino, Nara, Lee, Tenten (to keiko), Gai and Asuma (to Inoue)

I think enough that what I said above makes sense.

Ok guys, here's a list of possible paths I've scribbled up that we can take to Mountain, Iron, and Tea. Discuss.

I'm a fan of the dark green or dark blue paths:

We know Zabuza was looking for us somewhere in the vicinity of Iron. It would probably be a better idea to stay clear of Iron and its neighboring areas. It would also be a better IC experience to go places we haven't been before, expand our familiarity with different areas of the continent and such. Settling into a pattern is also good way to get killed.

Red and orange pass too close to a point where three nations meet. That is probably a high surveillance area.

Red, orange, and purple take more than 24 hours to run through 20mph (our long term speed?). It is doable, but we don't want to drop dead immediately after we reach our destination.

I would also like us to obfuscate our trail by a few extra border hops to make it harder to track us long term. For example: if we want to go to Fang, we first enter Claw from Wind, cross straight through loop around to Fang through Earth.

I think Mari kiboshed a plan like that earlier, but that still seems like the best move to me when we know that our track is going to picked up on at some point.

Also, we don't have the Stealth to prance around the big nations yet. We need to stop somewhere and beef that up before we head out. Not to mention how we will need time to have a long talk with our team before we decide where we actually want to go.

The two sensible options for Stealth training in my mind are River, Iron, and possibly Waterfall. Those are the options we should vote for now, and leave the final destination to the next voting period after we have some teammate feedback.

Assuming of course they give a shit about our ideas anymore.

Why is Tea not an option?

If you're worried about future travel (i.e., getting to Mountain), why can't we find a boat going to Sand's southern coast, and run around the place instead of going through multiple countries? Or taking a boat to Rivers and going through Purple (with moving through borders to avoid getting noticed)?

Seal details:

Tunneller's Friend
Accumulates up to 300 air points over the course of an hour in Mode A. Releases up to 300 air points in Mode B. One person at rest uses up 1 air point per minute. Light exercise (e.g. walking) uses up 5 air points per minute. Moderate exercise (e.g. hiking) uses up 20. Combat uses up 50.
Is the reason for the air points that you don't want us making pneumatic motors?

Tea is boxed in from three sides with waters that are teeming with things that will try to murder us. We almost died the first time we crossed from River to Tea and I don't think we would do much better with a repeat performance.

If we go to Tea, we will have a hard time getting out. I'm also pretty sure that Jiraya doesn't want us to go anywhere near VHitM.

Boat travel is tricky. I'm under the impression that blue-water ships are a rarity and people don't just book daily ferry tickets from Tea to Wind. Even if we find a ship we would either have to fool the ninjas guarding it (can't cross without ninjas killing chakra whales) or alternatively find someone who will hire us as guards.

So it is not an insurmountable problem, but it won't be a cakewalk either. We will also have to interact with people, and with our opsec that will leave even a bigger trail to follow than a chase through the wilderness on land would.
