Unless you're Naruto, harems are not stable until you have a stable base. We shouldn't really start on a harem until we a) make Hidden Heaven, or b) learn the Tajuu Kage Bunshin no Jutsu and the Harem no Jutsu.

Getting possible members used to the idea of a harem != recruiting them into a harem.

Just getting to the point where we can start recruiting members into a harem will take loads of time. Might as well start winning the hearts and minds of potential members now so we can be prepared later on.

Doing a Naruto, yes. I can agree. We'd be doing that anyway with the whole merchant empire schtick. But actually adding people to the harem (which is what I feel some people here are saying)? Fuck that.

Making friends out of random motherfuckers in situations that make no goddamn sense even with the context provided.

This makes much more sense than what I had in mind for Hazou. For the life of me I couldn't remember the arc of Naruto where he deliberately seduces every single female bloodline holder he meets and then recruits them to his harem all for the express purpose of extending his power base and hoarding as many unique genetic abilities for his progeny as possible.

Cuz if I missed that arc I really want to watch it. :V

That's probably more like what a rational-ish Narito quest on QQ would look like

Warning: Warning
[X] Armageddon Initiative.

warning This write-in is apparently trolling the Quest on a sensitive topic, so have a WfMB on the house since I suspect you knew better when you posted and that isn't very cool. Please try not to do this again, or we may be forced to move up to other measures.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for looking out for us, @Admiral Skippy, but don't worry too much. @Dark as Silver is a bit of a schmoo sometimes, but at this point it's more of an in-joke than an actual trolling.

Although, if anyone goes back to the Youthsuit thing (I'm not going to do the all-caps, bold, radioactive green), then feel free to strike down upon them with great and furious wrath worthy of an Old Testament deity who just heard that Firefly was cancelled.

While we wait in pitiful confusion and dreadful anticipation for the next update, what do people think re: things we could do to attract more posters + readers? Is that even something the thread community should try to do?

I really like @gbear605's suggestions to actually write out the unwritten rules (e.g. to make an announcement post quoting your plan if you edit that plan) and to describe salient points/differences between plans being voted on.

I also like @Dictator4Hire's suggestion to make the methods section of a plan more comprehensible. Especially if combined with shorter-term action plans this might be helpful for everyone involved, since it makes both writing and critiquing plans easier and presumably will be easier for QMs to interpret.

Prettying up the second post (fan art) and adding total-beginner explanations of things to be more inviting?

Varying degree-of-complexity summaries at both the top of the Player Doc and Wiki (possibly with similarly complex mechanics / voting explanations?)

Thread advertising: there are artists who could be commissioned to make sweet banners and raise awareness / encourage people to participate (what to put on them? Seal designs? Hazou's face? Group sketch?)

Tags: don't know how many people actually use them to find quests, but ours are pretty sparse. Even just having things like "ninja" in addition to "Naruto" might help, I dunno.

Reddit recruitment: player-recruitment/FAQ thread? Just to let people know the QMs/community really love it when new people join and we'll be nice and give them cookies? maybe people who are usually lurkers would be willing to chime in here - how many of you are from the subreddit?

Making the wiki and tvtropes pages much more comprehensive potentially also useful

Just convince some studio to make an anime of the Chuunin Exam Day fanfic.

By reading this message you acknowledge that I hold no responsibility for any negative results that may arise from following the above advice, whether successful or unsuccessful. Any consequences, financial, psychological, social, or otherwise, are the sole responsibility of the reader of this message. In the case that aggrieved fans and/or unsuspecting victims driven insane from watching the Chuunin Exam Day anime (henceforth referred to as "the anime") attempt physical harm on the personage of the reader of this message, it is the sole responsibility of the reader to survive, defend themselves, and engage in legal combat. The reader also forfeits their right to a champion in the case of trial by combat, unless the aggrieved party permits the reader the use of a champion selected from the studio which made the anime.

I don't know whether this is a joke any more.
I am unsure if it being a joke will actually change how badly it kills us when it gets passed in a vote. Or how quickly the thread gets locked/banned/whatevered.

to describe salient points/differences between plans being voted on.
I agree this is an important thing to do to encourage voting. Also, having multiple serious plans. I intend to do this as time, energy, and competing action plans allows (and encourage others to do so too).

Agreed. At least, for situations like this one where we have pretty open ended actions. I think in some situations (e.g. planning combat) this may not be the best method, but for the sort of open ended actions we take for the majority of the quest, it certainly seems worthwhile.

All the other points lie outside my sphere of influence and knowledge, so I don't have meaningful feedback. They sound fine though.

We can keep it PG! There's no need to venture anywhere near morally dubious, ban-worthy actions. All we have to do is convince any number of girls to go out with Hazou simultaneously. No need to make it any more complicated than it needs to be.

Combat has to more flexible than this method would allow, I agree. However, the hivemind has proven to be fairly competent once we are in immediately dangerous situations. If I had to choose, I'd focus more on improving our open-ended votes rather than our combat ones for the moment. It certainly helps for combat that our motivation is fairly obvious: don't die, don't die, don't die, don't die, don't die, don't die, DON'T YOU DIE ON ME HAZOU!

I don't intend to appeal this currently, however I would like clarification.
I have been voting this way (and other ways that are generally stupid) for a very long time without issue, are you just monitoring the thread closely for a while to make sure that it doesn't flare back up after the Youthsuit vote, or is this a warning that you will never allow Armageddon Initiative esque votes in the future?
If its the former, when will you be stepping back with the restrictions

Aww. You do care.

Because you are an intelligent person with poetry and hope in your soul.

D'awww random unsolicited compliments are the best.

Have some reciprocal warm fuzzies: your writing played a decisive role in my decision to be more active in the 'rational' community. I most likely wouldn't be here if I had not read 2YE and Team Anko. You and your works are also inspiring.
