I don't think so. Killing a Kage in his office with a multi-minute lead up is too risky no matter how much your latest intel tells you that you outclass all of the nation's top fighters.

Wilder conspiracy theory. Hidan wanted Kakuzu dead and trusted in Jashin that Hazō would provide. Thus the smile.
Hm, it would be quite wild if Hidan got Jashin power boosts via killing powerful foes, like if bisecting Asuma made him get "XP" or powered up his "Jashin Bullshit" stunt bonus the same way we get increased +Sealing bonus from SSA whenever we suffer PTSD and our TYS increases from it.

There's a discussion about whether we can expect to get The Good Shit from Oro (immortality, personal jutsu, etc.) without being his apprentice (setting aside the likelihood of getting the good shit or being his apprentice at all). It is my opinion that no, if we are not his apprentice, we will not be getting that, because the culture of the EN is such that the only time such techniques are passed down is to apprentices, or to other members of one's clan.

Is my estimation of EN culture correct here?
Generally, secret techniques are shared only within a clan. For those not of any clan, yes, one-on-one, high-commitment apprenticeships with the expectation that you wouldn't share anything learned with anybody else (except possibly your own apprentices) are the only way people generally pass down their knowledge.

We can do a prep day on them to determine their rough function, right? Or is that beyond the scope of a prep day?
That's beyond the scope of a prep day. You'd need to be pretty close to finishing the seal to tell.

Can we say that we had Shinji or Kazushi spend a day learning the difficulty of those seals, or would it need to be mandated via Declaration (and the associated cost of FP)?
No, sorry.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped Do Seventh Path Dogs have the ability to smell people's emotions, like IRL dogs do? Would they be able to smell what Akane's emotions were (from the bloody shirt)?
Only to the limited extent normal dogs can, which is to say only specific emotions (I believe normal dogs have been proved to do fear/stress?), and not from blood. Note that most Seventh Path dogs have little or zero experience with humans or with deciphering human emotional states beyond the most extremely obvious.

@faflec Can the MfD!Byakugan see chakra?
Hyūga sneered at him. "Is your brain as messed up as your insides, foreigner scum? I am a Hyūga. I know all and see all. It would take a jōnin to have even the slightest chance of challenging me at stealth. As for you, you would be better off sitting this one out altogether. What kind of pathetic excuse for a ninja goes around with no spare chakra in their body?"

So if we got Canvass to sniff Asuma's shirt, and then the two vials of Akane's blood we have (from the Goketsu/Hokage's office) could Canvass tell if the blood on Asuma's shirt was from one of the two vials of Akane's blood or from a third source altogether?

No, only that it belongs to the same person.

Also, note that the shirt is no longer in the realm of the living after Hidan's explosion took out the office.

To avoid a meeting update: What is Mari and Kei's progress on turning Mio into a non-threat to the Goketsu?

  • We know that she's been unhappy, we know that she was actively planning on leaving the Goketsu.
  • Players have theorized that leaving a clan must be an unofficial death sentence, or else the state of Leaf would look different than what it does.
  • Mio is also dangerously angry at Hazou, with nothing we say/do making her happy.
  • Hazou just almost killed himself to save an adoptive Goketsu, which stands against Mio's claims of indifference (but again: nothing we say or do).
  • Mari and Kei have both said they would handle Mio, but this was before Yuno turned to Jashinism, and definitely before Asuma died.
  • Mari is an Elite, FOOMing, social spec jonin who knows the Shadow Clone jutsu. However, she has also said that, since the Goketsu Clan know her as a powerful social spec, Goketsu Ninja aren't as easy to manipulate as other ninja are.
  • In the immediate aftermath of saving Yuuma, Kei expressed discomfort at the split in duty between Goketsu and KEI, regarding Mio, specifically. This draws into question just how much work Kei even attempted to do up until that point, let alone what progress she might have made.
  • Finally, we've had issues before, with assumptions regarding NPC agency on both ends of the spectrum (assuming they're doing some work, or assuming they're not doing anything)

It's only been, what, a week or so since we met with them about the Mio issue? I doubt they would have made much progress, and in any case they're definitely busy with other things now.

People already approached the idea of Ami dooing the framing the hokage bit.

She doesn't necessarily need to have been responsible for Akane's death.

Just thinking it was asuma and decided to plant a "proof" to hidan.

Question: If in our digging we find out that someone we like framed Asuma, but most likely didn't kill Akane, how do we proceed? And I don't just mean do we snitch on them or not, but also how do we deal with knowing while having low deceit?

Stay the fuck away from anyone who could attempt to talk to us, hiding in the Seventh Path if we have to.

That's my plan if/when we find out that Mari did it.
