Well can we offscreen reinforce the idea on mari.
To be honest we should have clear of consequence meanin time to actualy star to studying the great seal and how to repair it.

@Velorien, what was Mari's demeanour during the discussion? Was she calm? Annoyed? Resigned? Thoughtful? Thoughtful and conspicuously not sharing her thoughts? Something else? Any particular emotions in response to any particular topics?
Sheer lunacy that leaves everyone baffled how it didn't turn into an unmitigated disaster.

Proto plan
[] Mending Bridges
Offscreen:
• Ask Goketsu to give Kei an opportunity to stop Ami.
• If Ami attacks Mari, the Goketsu will protect her.
• Ask Kagome if Storage Seal reactive armor is possible/safe to use.
• Bring Noburi to lead negotiations with Inuzuka.
• DRAGONWAR is a threat to all.
• Inuzuka have the best dog Jutsu on this path.
• Trade for Jutsu that could help dogs.
• Options for Noburi to bargain with:
• Seals, bulk or monthly.
. • Bringing dog storytellers
• ???
• If we get any dog Jutsu, give it to Cannai.
• Ask if Cannai wants to trade with the Inuzuka.
• What can they offer, what do they want?

Hmm, I wanted to do some 7th path exploring/diplomacy this update but I guess the hyena patrol punishment kinda puts a damper on that

i don't think i have seen the cracks on the great seal discussed much, any ideas regarding that?
Actually, entertaining as the image of Hazō holding off hordes of hyena raiders by waving his cane at them menacingly is, the patrols only start once the Consequences have healed.
we could still do that, nothing better than a wounded prey to bait them..

Hey, you know how we have a homicidal jounin who hates Mari in the clan (besides Mari herself, I mean), and whom we made sure to tell Ami about? And you know how Ami might still be planning to kill Mari without implicating herself?

We have until the rest of the clan finally teaches Yuno to ignore our orders.

Kei has made her will known, she doesn't want Mari killed. Of course Ami could trick her still, but I don't think she'd deliberately go against Kei like that

I did wonder why you excluded her from the meeting.

I can't speak for anyone else who considered it but didn't speak up, but personally I wasn't sure having her and Mari in one place discussing something that polarizing was wise

EDIT: although, that may have made it sufficiently interesting for you to want to write :V

"Annoyed", predominantly, almost as if she did not take well to being threatened for reasons that were unreasonable and made no sense. Conspicuously not sharing all her thoughts. I think her distinct emotional responses were covered in the update.

Well. EJ does enjoy writing Mari. And a failed social in this regard would mean Mari goes to kill Ami. Sounds like a conversation with stakes, with a character EJ enjoys writing.

So, how about a Mari Plan?

Right, OK we need to order Mari to not take any action that could conceivably be taken as an attack on Ami, at least until Kei and Ami have their little chat.

Or, we could direct her to make preparations for such an attack, that themselves do not constitute an attack even under the most broad definition. This should, at once, find an outlet for her anger, and position us well if Kei's discussion with Ami goes poorly.

In my previous assassination plan, such preparations would've meant gathering information on Hinji, and perhaps planting evidence on him. Sadly, I don't think this plan is viable anymore, as Kei will jump to the obvious conclusion.
We never got to see the skyslider presentation to Asuma, did we? Maybe we can squeeze a cool and lighthearted scene into this update.
Strap Ami to a skyslider and send her out towards the ocean... I mean, if no-one ever finds the body...

Harumitsu a good kid who deserves better masculine role models than the Hagoromo.
Younger Hagoromo are divided between the orthodox faithful, those enjoying the moral superiority while only paying lip service to the actual ideals, and those earnestly (and quietly) struggling to reconcile teachings from centuries ago with a reality that no longer quite fits, though it's hard for an outsider to tell which is which.

On the whole, Mari considers them to be somewhere between the Hyūga and the Akimichi. They are judgemental and bigoted, but they are not blood purists, and the average clansman considers a sincere effort to follow the Will of Fire in all things to be a tolerable second best to living according to the letter of the scripture.
Without discussing your actual point (which I largely agree with), I'd like to remind you that there are plenty of "good" Hagoromo out there. You've been seeing only the ultra-orthodox and you're painting the whole community with that brush, to the point where you're using their name as a quasi-slur.

Don't be so hasty to judge. They're not all like that.
