The Yamanaka might possess Resolve-boosting techniques. If we could trust Ino enough to cut her in, or if we could come up with some clever offer, we might be able to access them.
Luckily, we have an angle, thanks to the very existential threat that we most need the power-up against.

Plan segment:
  • Spend some time with Ino and Akane:
    • Mention to Akane that, when faced against the Dragons, it's often the familiar thought of her that keeps him sane against their psychic attack.
    • Express how afraid you are. If the Arachnids are right, the stakes are as high as possible, and failing means that everyone dies.
    • Ino -- we know it's grossly inappropriate to ask, but does Yamanaka have techniques that would bolster a mind against psychic attacks?

Maybe phrase it as "…but does the Yamanaka have any techniques that they would be conceivably be willing to trade that would increase the user's willpower or bolster a mind against physics attacks?"

A little less rude this way and we don't straight up request a Jutsu that would let us counter the Yamanaka.

That seems viable but for one small part:
Mention to Akane that, when faced against the Dragons, it's often the familiar thought of her that keeps him sane against their psychic attack.
Only Akane though, not Ino, never Ino, Ino doesn't rate. Somehow, I don't think saying that in front of her is going to improve our chances of getting into the Yamanaka's clan secrets.

... Do you think we can spend a Fate Point on Hazou having used his memories of Ino to ground himself when under the metaphysical psychological assault during one of the off-screen visits to the Great Seal? Or at least of that time they were on a skytower together? Because this really seems like a vulnerability the Romcom Gods will target ruthlessly.

... Do you think the Romcom Gods are just Jashin too?

Nah, I'm down for it. Make the quest maximally fun for me and @Velorien in exchange for your characters getting more powerful so they can engage on a larger stage and be more badass? Oh, no! Please don't throw me in that briar patch, Mr Fox!
Also, there's an upper limit to how much we can realistically condense the story (and thus a limit to our XP density). We'd probably end up just having the story be a bit tighter (IU-timewise) on average and a bit more fun for you guys.

We do it in two steps. We just need to first vote in a fluffy scene of gathering memories of the both of them, or even of Ino specifically since we have plenty of Akane. Deploy the memories the next time we visit the Dragons, then return to Go and collect $200 Resolve-boosting techniques.

Everyone else forgot about hot-air balloons so I said fine, I'll do it myself.
Bullshit. Just because I have an ambient antimemetic field which would make Cassandra giggle doesn't mean
I didn't bring it up. I even researched the tech dates for sky lanterns which were used for militarily signaling in the BC while the current era has a tech level of the 11th century.

There's even a convenient thing to simultaneously do with the Akane/Ino scene. Since it's a new year and we have new adoption slots (including lots from the Amori), we could start scouting out Sakura. I think she's both Ino's old friend if the QMs hewed close to canon, and was formerly on a team with Akane and Haru, so both the members of our polycule could have good input on her as an option.

It could be worthwhile to grab a genjutsu specialist and another sane clan member, nevermind that (again) if the QMs hewed close to canon, she's a bit of a diamond in the rough. Also, it could help develop our relationship with Sasuke and Naruto.

Also it gives Haru a peer he feels like he can bitch about Hazou to without worrying about Clan shit

Before I brought it up last week, the last time that balloons were mentioned was July of last year, not counting the last time I asked around about it in November 2020. No one else was thinking about it. I'm also not counting all the times after that you mention balloons in your weapon designs since you never described how to make the balloons with our current knowledge or suggested that we develop them.

While I was searching around I found designs Jelloraptor made for a seal-powered hovercraft using modified air seals. We could probably modify a Usamatsu's Glorious Life-Saving Preserver or an Air Cleaner to continuously output air without too much trouble.

With no disrespect intended to you or @Lailoken, please don't go down this road, you two. It can lead nowhere good.

Screw that. Nothing says that multiple LSBs can't be applied to the same seal. Design a rocket or LSB with appropriate delay, layer them in sequence, and you've got a ballistic rock-hopper. Way faster than a hovercraft or WiGE and nothing says that FSBs can't be applied to humans, so suddenly out of a blue sky boom, military division in your midst fully charged and ready to fight half a second after the over-the-horizon rocket artillery arrives.

I wonder if an XP bounty would motivate someone to remake the Screaming in Kagome extension.

Fair enough.

How did I miss that? It's amazing.
I know, right? I wanna try to make that now.

As soon as we have words to spare, I want to test out weird applications of 5SB. We can try stacking them on the same object, protecting seals with it, protecting 5SB support seals with 5Sb, and activating it on living things.

Edit: I also want to try @Black King 's sealing research on smaller force walls. Seems pretty promising, and could be folded into the seal suits people have been talking about.

I really don't want Hazou pulling a clan technique from Ino under false pretenses, even if it is an OOC one.

Might be ambivalent for trade, but that still depend on how that will go.

When it will inevitable be time to loop her in on FOOM, or when the whole secret project get exposed, showing Ino that the clan technique that she shared with us was the pathway to global power and we just by coincidence got it from her when she shared it to save Hazou life, and he promptly use it for a secret project will leave a bad taste in everyone mouth. even if she won't accuse Hazou of weaseling it out of her by pretending to be under threat in the seventh path by dragons no one can testify for their Aura.

Trading it might be better, but still unless handled right could be viewed as Hazou knowingly screwing her on the deal, thought as long as it stay in the clan an Ino will be one of the first to know when we expand the FOOM circle it should not be too bad.
