Voting for the coming Thursday update will close later than usual, 6 p.m. London time. The update will feature the aftermath of your match, as well as the Chōji/Hinata match in the afternoon if you are able to see it (and not, say, dead or kicked out of Mist).

The Sunday update will feature an interlude by eaglejarl. The next Thursday update will then be your meeting with Ami. By happy coincidence, this arrangement will give you nearly a full week to prepare (though it couldn't possibly merit that level of consideration, could it?).
Well, the good news is that we can't meet with Ami if we are dead. So, we will be merely wishing we were dead.
Yagura maybe? Would be pretty cool to share control with a tailed beast. Though for all I know it will try to influence us to nuke the world which isn't much difference from how it works right now.

Yagura woke up to find himself unable to move or use his chakra. Carefully, he opened one eye. Instantly, he was staring into Itachi Uchicha's Mangekyō Sharingan. And then, there was nothing but agony as the Akatsuki initiated the process of extracting the Three-Tailed Demon from its host. Host's survival was not a priority, and the host did not survive.

Vote for the new character will close next Thursday, at 6PM London time.

Speaking of Yagura...I'm starting to wonder that Mari's flashback revealed that the guy is a hivemind, based on his sudden figuring out of what Mari should have done on her botched mission. Or his bijuu gives him advanced intelligence like in...other Naruto stories. Or maybe he's just super smart :V

Well, we also have this tidbit from Ryugamine:
No one shall ever know the first draft, as it were, of Yagura's reign, nor of the true nature of his passenger.
So, perhaps—

Wait.
I don't remember you ever using this smiley before. Were you, perchance, lupchanzed?

(I'm only asking out of a sense of... social curiosity, you understand.)

After an epic battle atop a mountain as gale force winds swept around us and lightning strikes punctuated each blow, which is to say a typical QM Monday, @eaglejarl and I have determined your fates for the next couple of updates.

Oh, and eaglejarl also wishes to mention that he got the description of the quarry wrong in the most recent discussion: it is, as per chapter 231, "several hundred feet on a side and thirty feet deep", not 100 feet on a side.

So Leaf wasn't kicked out of Mist since their match will be occurring afterwards!

:V

[][Meta] We're not responsible enough

Hazou talks to anyone who future plans would affect, that is of the appropriate security level to be informed about his plans.

I'd like to reiterate that this sets us up perfectly for the Ami date.

AMI: *receives Hazou's invitation*
AMI: Why does he want to meet after the match? Is it to avoid the perception of looking for Keiko's weaknesses? Or is there some deeper purpose? Let's run through the possibilities. (...) In any case, I'll need to watch what happens very carefully. There might be some subtle clue hidden in there.
AMI: *watches Hazou's pre-fight speech*
AMI: ... what the fuck?
AMI: *using the Frozen Skein to look N levels deep into Hazou's game*

Meanwhile, in the arena:
HAZOU: That went well.
VOICES IN HAZOU'S HEAD: nice speech go uplift

Meanwhile, in Leaf:
SHIKAKU: Yes, that makes perfect sense.

Ryugamine... what do you know and how do you think you know it?

Ryugamine is probably around Jiraiya's age and considering that he also married into the Mori Clan he was likely in some way involved into making Yagura a jinchuuriki in the first place, maybe he trained him or at least he has enough classified information to know what's going on.

Yagura can't be that old after all, even Zabuza called him a boyish looking guy.

"Was the Mizukage dead?" Zabuza asked urgently. "A boy about your height dressed in green and grey, with a hooked staff and an awful haircut?"

That doesn't actually tell us his age since Kishimoto deliberately drew him to look like a young boy (a fact which Naruto comments on as a joke, only to be reminded of the kiss between Sasuke and him because DYK).

Now going by memory and trying to make some sense out of the canon time line:

Obito "died" when Kakashi was 13 and Kakashi is 24 at the start of the manga - which is close enough to the 12 years old Naruto should have been in chapter 1 so lets go with that.
Before Naruto was born, Kakashi had to kill his teammate Rin because Mist sealed the sanbi in her as a time bomb. Obito saw that and took up the hobby of killing his former sensei in return.

Tailed beasts usually take time to reform and are sealed into anything between the ages of Zero to Madara but this was still pretty early in the story so lets assume that Kishimoto stuck with his "newborns make the best demon containers" idea.

Which should mean that Yagura should be around 24 when Naruto/MfD starts minus the time it took for the sanbi to reform (which for some reason I want to say is 0 because DYK).

tl;dr
Yagura is probably around his mid-twenties so still pretty young.

IIRC Yagura is like twentyish but is short and just has one of those faces.

Wait, if Kakashi killed the Rin containing the Sanbi roughly 11-12 years ago, and bijuu are supposed to be sealed into newborns, wouldn't Yagura be max 12 years old? No wonder he was such a rough Kage

Damn you Kishimito!

But really, within that year or so a ridiculous number of things are supposed to happen, many of them are contradictory. Let's just pretend the past never happened unless the QMs say it did :p

Good call. Bear in mind that according to the best fan reconstruction of the canon timeline, Hiruzen was the Three's jōnin-sensei at the same time as running the village as Hokage.

Wasn't that also the case with the 4th? That, and he wasn't yet Hokage after when he was supposed to have already died? They sure loved the dude for being Hokage for, like, a week or two after the war.

Edit: I'm just going it say "spacetime seal/ninjutsu" and do jazz hands whenever anyone ever asks again.

That's not so insurmountable. He teaches them secret stuff in the village (in between all the plate juggling aspects the job brings) and can send them out on missions with random Jonin.

Keeping in mind that they were all genius prodigies, I don't think this is the strangest contortion thats ever happened to the timeline.

Consider the following mess:

It's canon that Tsunade and Hashirama interacted when the former was a child. Yet Hiruzen was the Hokage and decently into his twenties/thirties by the time he got his genin team (let's assume they are all twelve too). But Hiruzen was appointed the Third when he was a teenager, after Tobirama died in WW1. Tobirama was the Second at this time.

Hashirama doesn't seem like the type to step down from the role until his dying day. Likewise, he isn't one to shy away from a fight. Similarly, he doesn't agree with a lot of the shady things that Tobirama does. Also he's implied to have a SUPER OP healing factor that keeps him in nigh perfect health.

So where the fuck is Hashirama these 10-20 odd years, Kishimoto?

The 4th was appointed Hokage after the war IIRC?

Why is that an issue though? With the existence of Shadow Clones and them not having any drawbacks in canon whatsoever except requiring chakra, I never understood why the Hokage kept complaining about having to do paperwork all day except because it's funny.

That can even explain away the fact that the Hokage himself was handing out D-Rank missions at the mission desk because it shows he cares about the new genin while he doesn't even have to present for real.
