You know, your edit lets us know that there isn't going to be combat between Noburi and Zabuza in the next update. After all, there would be zero need for rolls, Noburi would just die.
Noburi is presumably not alone. Zabuza would need to go through other Leaf ninja first, and they may be closer to his—

Scratch that, I know what these rolls actually are. It's social combat rolls, modelling an argument between Zabuza and our fascinating sleeper agent Yukino. About whether they want to attend our next org- game night. I believe in her.

Intergenerational? I think @Radvic needs to teach you a thing or two about nukes...

As a rule I tend to consider any action as a specific implementation of a more general policy / decision framework. The fact that we (might) have nukes doesn't really make a difference -- in fact, it should swing us the other way on the calculus, because if it were permissible to use overwhelming force in this scenario just because you can, then we wouldn't expect the world to last very long if others' of a similar reference class implemented whatever theory you might be able to stably construct from extrapolating from the assumption that this type of action is permissible.

...

Oh god, I'm thinking at the second meta level. brb need caffeine.

What you're saying is "we shouldn't burn the EN to the ground because of this", which I agree with, whereas I am saying "if this was a policy we took, and other people weren't 'aware of the precommitment ahead of time', there would be no second generation to continue the conflict."

This is pretty much the rough idea.

If theres no major opposition, I think we end up winning, right?

Nooooooo! You just find yourself in a universe where someone else already did this.
Perhaps we should just invent Dimension Hopping Seals and go there then?

We can make a few pitstops along and grab Alternate Timeline Team Uplifts too.

I'm sure a hundred or so of them could figure out Necromancy after a bit. Maybe we need to grab some Kabuto's and Orochimaru's as well.

Finally a plot worthy of Seven Paths of Cultivation!.

I think @Veedrac already wrote that omake.

Awww, but I already have a bunch of Alternate Timeline bits prepped!

In fact, I think I'll do a series of a few of those, and cap it off with Hazou Prime going around and gathering everyone up.

Might want to reword that if your intent is to sow proper seeds of Screaming in Kagome.
"QMs play fair" means that there always need to be rolls.

@MMKII Could you help me understand why we're doing a pseudo-date with Ino? You seem to put a lot of thought into it but I don't really understand why. If it were just damage control a note would have been fine, and we wouldn't be asking her if she wants to see the sunset or trying to make small talk.

Because she's the social butterfly of the heirs, and getting her on our side likely deals with all the fallout from the awkward.

That's not actually the case if the skills are so far apart that it's mathematically impossible for Noburi to survive. At least, I wouldn't roll in that case.

(Incidentally, that's one of the strengths I miss from the old system, for all its flaws.)

You've missed the obvious possibility: that Noburi is Orochimaru. All that foreshadowing, and for what?

Ah, also, regardless, pointing out that eaglejarl is doing his genie thing. He said "nothing is certain" which means that Noburi is capable of surviving which means that he's either within 24 skill of Zabuza (hah!) or not fighting him.

All this time we were looking for him and he was there the whole time.

Something along these lines:

I didn't put any more thought into it than anything else, really. I just made a bunch of edits to it because people thought it came off as trying to romance the shit out of her, and that that was a bit creepy.

In general, I don't think writing a sentence along the lines would suffice. You'll note that the Game Night plan was pretty simple and straightforward, without much in the way of emergency clauses or safeguard or what have you.

That worked out swimmingly.

Man, you know the worst part of this?

We're gonna backslide into 3000 word plans with contingencies.
