Maybe he's sucking the chakra out of all the monsters in the ocean at once to put it into a massive chakra water reservoir that will be Leaf's strategic deterrent to war. He'll say it's something else because of opsec, but we'll know what really happened when the enormous monsters start washing up ashore.

Or maybe he's getting laid. We keep hearing about this orgy being organised somewhere.

So then MfD is origin story of the final tailed beast of the pantheon Noburi.

How? humans are kinda sorta hairless apes. Apes are tailless monkeys hence Noburi is the Zero tailed beast.

We are going to petition Jiraiya that she never enter our home ever again and be formally reprimanded for reprehensible behavior.

I think it need not be said:

We will go to great lengths to never interact with this character ever again.
We're playing a hormone soaked teenage boy, we'll probably be all for having her around as much as possible. >.>

He's a kid who was publically embarassed in front of those who are essentially his entire peer group.
Which, if I recall high school correctly, was pretty much a once-a-month occurence and basically never turned into anything serious. Especially in context of sex where the entire peer group, Hyuuga perverts excluded, has no real point of reference.

I expect zero impact on local politics, other than maybe some tavern gossip / laughs.

In fact, this might actually turn out well for his relationships with the other heirs; it's a humanising scene, exposing some weakness/vulnerability in a non-life-threatening scenario. Might be an improvement over mr. make seals / plan explosions.

Jiraiya's reputation is probably protective, here. It's not like you can scandalize someone who openly writes erotic novels.

Perhaps we had different highschool experiences, but I do not quite recall ever going to a dinner party where me and my peers were peer pressured into an orgy by a commanding officer with no rational intervention by any teenagers or adults present.

(I am pretty sure I would remember such a thing too. Unless it happened Senior Year of course)

Oh, one more thing, @Cariyaga especially.

Players feeling powerless is a very bad thing. QMs not being able to introduce problems caused by NPC agency and/or Compels is also a bad thing. What would you consider a reasonable compromise?

NB: Always terminating the update at decision points and committing to always rejecting Compels are obvious solutions which come with their own significant disadvantages that lead me not to recommend them.

Not specifically that, but people embarrassing themselves, or being subject to sexual innuendo teasing? Pretty similar in nature.

And what do you mean no intervention? We intervened and stopped it!

Keep in mind that in this particular society ninja are considered adults from the time they make genin. It's not OK to us because our society values protecting teens from being pressured into having sex by adults, but to this society Anko didn't technically do anything wrong. Socially awkward perhaps, but teen ninja are considered competent to consent to sex with adults if they want. (And the seduction spec ones are probably going to be doing it for work, which is all kinds of messed up, but that's the world of the Elemental Nations as it is right now.)

I think the issue might be arising because we're doing this on a bulletin board rather than in person, the way FATE was designed to be played. In person it's easy for someone to speak up and say whether they want to spend the point to resist the compel or not. Here on a board waiting for that decision is a big pain.

Maybe the compel thing isn't well suited to this environment and we need to figure out some other way of handling it?

It's a lot more complex than "they're considered adults".

Well... to expand on the "feeling powerless" thing, another part of why I felt that way is that not only did the whole scenario come out of left field, contained within the update with no way to impact it, but the content of the writing itself came off as humorous in a way that... seems to belie what (it seems to me like) will actually happen as a result of this:

I could absolutely be panicking over nothing, but I can't imagine this not being impactful to internal politics between the Goketsu and other clans, regarding loss of face if nothing else, but also how much of an ass Hazou made of himself at the end.

As a side-story or an omake I would be laughing my ass off at this, but it's difficult to find funny when it seems to me that there are immediate and very bad consequences. Of course, with the length of the chapter as is it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect you to add another thousand words discussing that no it's not actually THAT big of a deal (or that it is, going against the tone of the update).

Personally, the problem is less "Hazou stuck his foot in his mouth" and more "Hazou stuck his foot in his mouth in a long-term-impactful way that sets him back in his goals appreciably without anything we could do about it".

I mean, it's to the point that even Oneiros said that we shouldn't do social stuff any more :p
