Maybe Shin is from a Branch family that internally opposes Ren? And Anna may be unimportant in general.
They may be part of factions within those clans opposed to Ren's agenda. Big clans will have internal politics to consider.

While Im thanking my lucky stars that Shikamaru managed to plan and suggest what was basically our original plan minus us hunting everyone down, Im still somehow mildly annoyed that hes doing so.
Whatever, we just have to beat the shit out of people this round and make our defenses inviolate next round. We still get what we all want, its just being presented to us in a way that makes Nara look better than before.

On the contrary its to her benefit to beat our face in next round to make up for her embarassing defeat.
One angle here that Shika is playing is that this could be a way to setup Hyuga v Goketsu Round 2 but more publically and with more odds stacked against us (read: looks amazing when we win).
Having a Cheat Eyes user in the enemy ranks is going to be a pain in the ass though.

There are two social specs around with plenty of non-Leaf nin that can corraborate the story. This is pretty juicy information for their clan heads or Village leaders to sell.

Assuming this is true, by the time they sell it, jiraiya's position would have already been greatly strengthened by the events here. Therefore, making the information useless

This, for the record, is that thing that I proposed in QM chat and then shortly thereafter saw in the thread.
It's OOC information, but what the hell: Part of the reason is that a smaller group looks less threatening and therefore makes y'all more willing to talk. The other part is because she was the failsafe in case there was a fight, but I won't say more about the plan there.

We should suggest that Shikamaru and Ino help during the red-team-coalition assault on our base. They aren't required to move to use their techniques, and if they can sow some discord among the members during the fight, it's more to our advantage. It's not like they'll be dry on chakra afterwards.
