Why don't they just give us the candidates who are most hurt by our rampage in round 1 and held personal grudges and only wanted us to fail and nothing else?

Edit: as our teammates.

Edit 2: or just split us up as a group since we've eliminated uninjured genin, and it's only fair if as many blue teams as possible have uninjured genin.
That...is not out of the realm of possibility.

...shit.

Ooh, they're gonna give us free chakra batteries? Neat.

Smart idea, hopefully Keiko won't veto it due to the risk of violating barracks rules or whatever. Or because Pandā has shit scent-tracking abilities.

I don't think summoning a small non-combat Pangolin would violate dorm rules - we're not allowed to fight, but doing cheating ninja shit is totally in the rules. Pandā walking around the barracks and saying hello to people would be hilarious in general, too. Especially after the rampage.

And does Pandā have bad scent tracking abilities, or is that just something he might have? Regardless, I mostly want him as someone who can recognize her scent and when she's around more than for tracking her down.

Edit: as our teammates.

As I've stated repeatedly, I fully expect that those who have had Moderate Consequences inflicted upon them in Round 1 to withdraw from Round 2 for the most part. This is a combat event and while the candidates are expected to have restraint with regards to inflicting injuries, the risk of severe, crippling injuries does exists. People with pre-existing Moderate Consequences would greatly increase that risk by trying to go into a second round with them, for little to no gain - how many ninja would risk a career ending injury just to participate in another round of an exam? Hell, how many of their jonin sensei would let them even if they were so inclined? The injury that Noburi is inflicting is actually quite nasty, as it pretty much fucks up their ability to do any kind of physical combat, with even throwing kunai being affected due to how they would have to balance. But most importantly, it hinders their ability to dodge attacks. Frankly, any sensible person would drop out if they had that injury and their word half was taken.

If it happens, then it happens, but I just don't find it very likely. And as was just mentioned, they can serve as chakra batteries if nothing else.

Edit 2: or just split us up as a group since we've eliminated uninjured genin, and it's only fair if as many blue teams as possible have uninjured genin.

The rules state that they're going to keep existing squads together as much as possible. It would take a major stretch to break us up, and frankly if enough people have dropped out they're more likely to just have less total teams than smaller teams.

PSA: Please recall that the metainformation you were given became invalid when you chose to spend the update on prep instead of punch. As a result ***only what was in the chapter is reliable***

I'm not saying that everything from the meta info has been reversed, but you definitely should not count on any particular piece of it.

You're assuming that Mist won't alter or interfere with the exams as they are ongoing again even though they have done so before. Just look at the previous event.

We should plan accordingly for as many contingencies as we can think of now and then trim down what we believe will be most relevant when the time for voting rolls around. We are once again heavily disrupting Mist's intended event schedules so to save face in front of the other kage they may offer free or reduced cost medical services for contestants hampered by us (or anyone else so it's not too blatant) in this event.

I would imagine that Mist would be far more willing to assist other ninjas in said ninjas' recoveries before continuing the exams just so the finals do not consist solely of us and the people we deign to bring with us to the tournament. They were already looking for excuses to prolong the exams; they could easily use recovery time for everyone for their purposes.

I mean, we might go there next, the plan doesn't specifically call for us not to. Though I did say to prioritize Red teams...
From my perspective, it's best if we interact with ISC last, because I really don't think interacting with them has much to gain for us. Basically, we've got a couple options when interacting with them:
  1. Fight and win
    1. Need to decide what to do with them (maybe just not Moderate Consequences, but take out the rest of their team?)
  2. Fight and lose
    1. End of rampage (note: this combat would be significantly more likely to lead to a loss because negotiations preclude alpha strikes)
  3. Compromise
    1. Results in us getting less relative advantage (e.g. by letting them keep their documents or by not taking out the rest of their team)
Given this, it's probably best for us to interact with ISC after we've taken out every other group, so we can be like "well, we've taken out every other group. We probably can take you out, surrender and we'll not moderate consequence you" which gives them the least amount of leverage. If we haven't taken out other groups first, then they'll have the leverage of "can impede the rest of your rampage if victorious" and we will lack the leverage of "everyone else is already worse off."

Notably, there wasn't any -1000 points for improper simulation in the update if I remember correctly.

I'll save everyone some worry: you're going to go talk to ISC next. I'm planning to write a mini-update, hopefully tomorrow, that will show that scene.

1. Medics are already available to contestants, free of charge.
2. "Recovery" doesn't generally happen when someone receives a career ending injury, unless you happen to have Tsunade or someone equivalent available. Even non-crippling Severe Consequences can take months to heal, including with medical assistance. A genin who is near or at chunin level getting themselves injured and out of action for months over an exam is showing a distinct lack of judgement, and potentially damaging their chances for promotion. Continuing into Round 2 while still suffering Moderate Consequences is stupid and risky, and I can't see someone rational doing it.

Now, while they could try to delay by another week to give everyone a chance to recover, they've already stated the event timeline, and it made no allowances for people being injured. Doing something that's an obvious delay would likely cost Mist politically, especially since they've already drawn things out as is. While I expect they'll adjust their plans based on the results of what we're planning on doing today, they can't do anything too blatant without damn good reason.

It's there:

"Along the lines of 'properly simulating a T&I facility'," he continued, "you may not inter the documents or the lockbox in massive slabs of rock, bury them in the ground, or otherwise render them inaccessible to ninja who would be working in the facility. You can move the lockbox to some random part of the building, create decoys, add traps to the lockbox, and/or have one member of the team carry the key on their person. Failure to abide by these rules costs you all your positive points for the round and a one thousand point penalty. Proctors will decide if you have abided by the rules.

No no no

Not the screaming people

Join the SCREAMING
Ah. Is it time then? I can probably find a few people to throw into the screaming. Shall we leave someone notes on how to make implosion seals in place of their word halves? Or publicly create a fire-log macerator in front of our non-Leaf team? Or design that trans-finite bomb I've been dreaming of?

I was thinking more intensive care for the moderate consequences we have been inflicting upon the genin we've come across already.

Let me clarify: in my previous post I meant that Mist could interrupt this event between the swapping of the teams so that the blue teams would have a chance to recover before they would become the new red teams.

Now, while they could try to delay by another week to give everyone a chance to recover, they've already stated the event timeline, and it made no allowances for people being injured. Doing something that's an obvious delay would likely cost Mist politically, especially since they've already drawn things out as is. So long as they have the majority of the other kage and other villages leaders agreeing with them about the necessity of a rest between rounds they will have their justification. Everyone knows (or will know) by the end of this round that we have been extremely lenient to our opponents so far but that does not mean that we have been ingratiating ourselves to said opponents either. It's unavoidable that they will resent us after the can of whoop ass we opened onto them. The issue is that by inflicting moderate consequences on the majority of participants we have irritated their leaders who will also make up a majority in deciding how the exams should progress and if a break is needed. All Mist has to do (or any other aggrieved party for that matter) is to make the idea of a respite sound like a mutually beneficial arrangement for almost everyone for it to happen. There won't be any real international political consequences to take a break if Mist, Rock, Lightning, and Wind all need it. The one upside is that this will go down in history and will give Jiraiya enormous amounts of leverage in the upcoming negotiations with Mist.

Hmm.

We already know that there will be a break before the tournament for preparation and training and after this demonstration we are going to have even larger targets on our backs not just from Mist but from every other village to either be befriended or eliminated by them. If I was a village leader I'd seriously weigh the pros and cons of assassinating our team now while I'd still have a chance before our team continues to grow into S-rankers.

We should definitely leave Mist before the tournament, just to be safe. Pessimistically and practically paranoically speaking, we're probably going to have more assassins sent after us than ever before. We're definitely gonna need Jiraiya's help for that but it will be a good opportunity to meet with foreign nationals who want to ally with us too. Just gonna have to be very, very good at screening who is sincere and who is simply looking for an opportunity to rip our guts out.

This should be fun and interesting.
