We'd probably give it back. Smashed up, but back.

Wakahisa can use other peoples' barrels, and there's no way Kiri doesn't have a spare barrel available. Also, who cares about her?
Alternatively, we can hold it over Kiri's head until she admits that Noburi's better than her in every way and that she was a fool for underestimating him.

Chapter 196: Downfall

Placeholder content here because writing an omake chapter is a lot of work.

6 EXP points for lesson learned. Great plan guys. You actually predicted the enemy's plan. Brevity is 1+ points. Unfortunately, you're just plain outmatched.

Okay. That went about as bad as it could have gone, because they apparently weren't lying all those times they said they killed Jonin. Let's go over all of Noburi's other boasts.

But we aren't out of this yet. They are out for everyone's blood, and I don't think anyone can stop them in combat. So we go for social. Poison their allies against them, and everyone else too. Should be easy if they keep slicing heels, but maybe that was payback for draining Hazou. @BuzzardLord, does Kiri think she got cut in the same place she drained Hazou?

We can pin blame on them for the dossiers too, now that their misinformation on our bloodlines is no longer relevant.

Remember people, the goal isn't the exam, it's keeping team uplift from starting ww4. Let's rub the disconnect between their goals and their actions in everyone's face. We can't stop them from becoming legends, but if we move fast we can control what that legend is.

DON'T YOU GET IT THEY HAVE OUR WORD HALVES

OUR. WORD. HALVES.

THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE'S WORD HALVES AND THEN TRADE THEM OFF TO THE LOWER HALF OF THE COMPETITION FOR THEIR SUPPORT

WE'RE ALL FUUUUUUUUUUCKED

Fu-u-uck no.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but we have like 40 XP after this chapter. Not all that much. And the last thing Hazou needs at this stage is Taijutsu. Literally the lowest priority for leveling right now. Highest priority for everyone is Alertness. We want to win initiative.

Once training is done then we get to research. Hazou has a bunch of projects, and only a month, and we don't know how long it takes to research things (so we may have to get Kagome to research in parallel with Hazou and then give Hazou his notes to speed up Hazou's research).
  • Casino Seals -> Cone-detection Casino Seals (get that Extrasensory Array up for boosted Alertness)

I will note that cone detection actually makes the extrasensory array worse. You lose a lot of fine grained information that way.

Upside is, directional seals would allow for better directional accuracy at longer distances at the cost of being rather useless up close.

Both is better than neither, but I'm strongly in favour of just undirected casino seals over just directional casino seals.

We'd also get no bonus to training speed with the directional ones.

I'm confused, the omnidirectional detection just detects when chakra is moulded nearby, and the cone detection array also determines the direction of said moulding. What information is lost?

You know, casino seals are actually really great even if they only detect when chakra is moulded. Because you know what's chakra moulding? Chakra boosting. Also literally any buff techniques.

There are some things that remain constant throughout the multiverse. @Radvics wanting to destroy everything is one of them.
The plural is Radvices.

KDK.

PS: Do you think their version of @Radvic actually wants to preserve their world and is a pacifist?

Or, Centristvic is obsessed with the creation of a new world. Not in the uplift sense, in the sense that there used to be n planets and now there are n + 1. Current ideas involve 5sb relative to the sun, with a mantle that rotates around the core to keep the crust from melting.

Okay, so what do we do now? We know that ninja are much better on offense than defense, so do we have a chance to take them down next round, even with the moderate consequences?

No, we don't. Remember the Second Event?

Our best bet here is to get our documents and try to take down other top teams, since they'll be sporting Moderate Consequences as well. Try to go after that Gomi girl, or those two infil-spec ninja; they might not have Consequences but they'll still be shit in a nighttime fight. We do NOT go after the Goketsu again, we'd lose and anyone with a brain will laugh at us for not seeing that coming.

I was extremely confused at first but then realized you are still spouting things from the Negaverse.

So, real question: How many red ninja do we need to capture in the second round to guarantee our entry into the tournament?

I changed it for you :p

Ideally? Every last one.

Realistically? Depends on how things go in this round. We don't know how many top teams are gonna get completely fucked by being Redside and losing nearly 500 points (we don't care what happens to them anymore, they're fucked). We do know Team Asuma, Kurenai, Downfall, and Kongō are in Blue team, which means that if any more top teams are in Blue side we have to ensure they get completely fucked next round.

Is a valid strategy just to bank on Shin and Team Kurenai being arrogant AF and throwing the gauntlet down?

If we draw them all to our location then we can beat the shit out of all of them.

Kiba would be stupid enough to go after us. His wounded pride (his entire team got completely lawl'd in 10 minutes) would demand nothing less. I don't think Shino and Hinata would be that stupid, though. Same with Team Downfall; Shin can't possibly that prideful. I'm going to go out on a limb and say we won't be facing the same enemies for R2, though; it's likely we're going to be up against Team Asuma, plus more top teams. Troublesome.

Anyway, I've been thinking about the break and feel that if we want to maximize our chances we should actively help other R2 Blue teams. As in, we give/loan them explosives and similar seals at bargain prices, with the expectation that it'll help them win confrontations with their counterpart Red Teams. The reason I'm thinking this is because, even assuming they're top teams with great scores across the board (read: 600 points), their loss in the first round of this Event means they're looking at a ~105 point score. Which, even if they score perfectly as Blue side (140 points) they're not going to catch up to our score. So it should be in our best interest for them to do well at the expense of the R2 Red Teams, whose top teams are looking at a ~300 score before Round 2.

I think we have an opportunity here. Remember how we can learn seals?
1. Spend a FP to have glanced at the seals Upstart used on us (motion-sensor explosive, iron slime)
2. Once we're up, look for seals on the roof. If they've somehow discovered Flying Thunder God, there should be one there. We might also find the roofbuster, if that wasn't a summon trick.
3. Learn Sealing next chance we get. If we get into the tournament, stomp them with their own tricks.
---
[X] Gather the defeated Genin all in concentric circles and test the efficacy of stacked implosion seals
...sigh. We already agreed, no crippling or killing.
[X] Stick to the plan.

Don't be absurd, we're not learning Sealing in a month. Our best bet for fighting Team Goketsu is to get some sort of AOE mist seal from our family that ruins seal ink. And also some sort of gapcloser to take out Keiko before her Pangolins become an issue.
