Also ask if we should send a (second) message to Jiraiya about the current situation.

Just a note we already had a plan asking if we thought we should update Jiraiya on the whole attempted murder thing. Not sure how that conversation played out but since we granted Hazō more agency I'd assume that it has already been resolved in the background

Ask the entire team sans Minami if they want to tell Jiraiya what happened. A single veto will result in none of us sending the message.
  1. If approved, inform Jiraiya of what's happened vis a vis our sealmaster and team captain. Jiraiya will be able to read between the lines.
Don't worry - if we haven't done it before we certainly have now.

I strongly disfavor us going to mist right now. As recently depatriated missing-nin from Mist, a rather strong implication is that we are going back to make a dead drop of whatever intel we gathered while using our cover as adorable bumbling Genin.

If we succeed, all of a sudden we have a new candidate to infiltrate Leaf, with cover as a Jonin who we would try to integrate with the rights and privileges thereunto pertaining.

That doesn't look great, if we're the agents who execute the exfiltration.

If we fail, it is likely because we are discovered, causing another international incident.

I'm probably the least risk adverse regular and I think trying to extract Hana from mist is not an idea that should be on the table right now. What I'm hoping for is finding out that she has been sent on a mission somewhere in the area and we can locate her without facing much ninja opposition.

If we tried to get her out of mist we'd need a ton more info about the situation. Approval from Jiraiya. Probably support from Mari in planning the op and some more firepower to help us execute it. Right now we just need to be subtle and try to gather information to figure out what options our even possible with the upheaval happening in Mist.

Rushing in is a bad idea but research isn't

Yeah, at the very minimum we need approval from Jiraiya, otherwise he'll kill us for going off-mission to do something extremely risky.

That's actually pretty strong against us politically, you're right. We probably won't be able to wash away the prejudice (that's probably going to be helped along by PEoJ) for a long time, especially considering we were responsible for screwing up Hot Springs, but at the same time, no one except us has a good chance of pulling off the extraction mission, because Hana has no reason to join with any other Leaf team except us. This mission is also likely time sensitive, based on how long it takes Mist to get it's shit together, and it'll all be contingent on Jiraiya's approval, because the presence of hostile jonin will bump up the threat rating to an A-class mission.

Like to point out that this isn't the whole truth here.

It is true Hana won't join with other Leaf team except us, but the reason for this is because our team contains Kurosawa Hazou, the son of the aforementioned. Replacing Minami, Akane, Keiko, Noburi, and Kagome with any better-suited squad would be a better idea. Better yet, have Hazou write some letters and/or give them his flute, and he doesn't even have to go himself.

One possibility to consider - what if Hana has decided to become a missing-nin herself in order to go find Hazou? With the Mizukage having been kidnapped (and possibly killed), Zabuza, Mei, and several other jonin dead Mist is going to need every resource it still has available for things other than watching suspected traitors. (well, unless they double down on paranoia) But I could see the situation giving Hana an opportunity to flee on her own, as the village wouldn't necessarily have what they needed available to track her down quickly. Hell, I could see numerous Mist-nin abandoning the village - with Yagura missing and Zabuza dead, anyone who stayed out of fear alone might have decided that it was a good time to get gone (especially with the increased likelihood of Mist's total destruction due to lack of S-class fighting power) - so she could just be one of many taking advantage of the chaos.

...or she could have been declared Mizukage, because why the hell not? Mebbe nobody else wanted the job in the current political climate, so they picked a jonin that is a political nobody. :p

Depends on how long it'd take for her to get back into shape. I sincerely doubt she'd be stupid enough to go missing-nin until she got her Jonin strength back.

Does anyone know how long it takes to fully recover (physically) from a year's worth of rampant alcoholism and depression?

Twenty years of that didn't do shit to Tsunade once she found a purpose, why do you think that'll hurt Hana at all?

Edit: To be fair, Tsunade was also a legendary medic bar none and had an assistant in Shizune, and Mist's health welfare system is ... lacking, shall we say.

Also, publicly announcing that Leaf has Kurosawa Hazou is a very bad idea, especially if some other village connects the dots to Cold Stone Killers.

That'd vary from person to person. I imagine it's significantly less for ninja, because of chakra magic bullshit.

We kinda need to hope that this isn't what happened. If it is, our search for Hana is not going to work, at all.

We do not need to personally search for Hana at all. Jiraiya has it on his to do list, and I'd trust him to be more likely to succeed than us.

In that case we don't even need to. Just publicly announce that Kurosawa Hazou joined Hidden Leaf, Hana will show up by the end of the week.

Also this. Our being in Leaf is going to be public soon enough - it's not something that can really be hidden on a permanent basis.

She was able to face down the entire Kurosawa clan so she has to be fairly badass
I was thinking more of how Tsunade probably just regrew her atrophied muscles in a minute or some equally hilarious bullshit, but yeah, I'm surprised Momma didn't get "accidented" on a mission to cleanse the Kurosawa Clan or clan honor blah blah blah.

Probably because there wasn't enough support in the clan for that. Hana may have done something worth getting kicked out of the clan, but that doesn't mean they'd want her dead.
If there was that much support for her you'd imagine Hana would have avoided the whole thing through political shenanigans. Jesus, Momma, are you a Jonin or not!?

I'm imagining she probably had all of the Kurosawa clans secrets in a file that would show up in her sudden demise. Nothing like blackmail to keep from getting murdered

"Kick her out of the clan because of politics" is a couple degrees different than "kill her because she disgraced the clan". The clan could recognize the political reality that they needed to do something to show that her behavior was not accepted by the clan and kicked her out because of it, and many might not have liked it, but killing a blood relative for something that was politically disgraceful but not outright treasonous isn't something I could see a lot of people supporting.

No, I mean that those among the elders who believed that she ought to have been killed for her actions ought to have had enough power to have killed her while she was on a mission, and make it look like a mission fuckup/intel failure/etc.. Don't need full clan support for that.
