I wonder if we can make time-dilation storage seals.

Like, put an object into the storage seal, and when you take it out the object is X years older.
Rather have a hyperbolic time chamber kthx :D

e: Besides, of course we're going to mess with time. Either that or resurrection, whichever comes easier. You didn't think Hazou's dad actually died on that mission, did you? No, no, he was just abducted to the future by future-Hazou.

If we asked Kagome, would he say it was impossible, harder, or easier, when compared to researching a regular storage scroll from scratch?
Again, without consulting with the other QMs because they're not around, I think Kagome would definitely come down on the side of "harder" if you could get him to answer without panicked flailing. A regular storage scroll just violates the laws governing matter and space in unspeakable yet consistent ways. A time dilation scroll would have to violate matter, space and time simultaneously. To give one example, how would you locate and extract a sealed object if that object has changed since you put it in due to the passage of time? You might not be able to just reuse the system from standard storage scrolls. (Then again, you might. Hooray, research!)

Except the real problem with anyone knowing this at all is that Jiraiya already has a dangerously low level of support. If anything interjects, any conceivable thing becomes a political scandal, than Jiraiya's job gets harder. At this point in time, Jiraiya's every move is likely heavily scrutinized for any possible vulnerability - Jiraiya really can't do much except yell at us for doing something so stupid because any action he takes will draw more scrutiny.

The problem here is there is no safety net, not while Leaf is busy recovering from the loss of the Sandaime and organizing a manhunt while also desperately trying to project force. Jiraiya can't really afford to take any action to help us here, not when he needs to repair foreign relations and make absolutely no mistakes in asserting himself as a viable Hokage, especially after his rather poor showing at the meeting where he was selected. Jiraiya really can't save our asses, because any attacks on us are really attacks against him, and any more attacks against him would basically spell the end of our clan, if not the entire Leaf village.

So you try to tell me that keeping Jiraya in the dark on a potential Death-blow to his allready vulnurable position is a good idea? Yeah, No. Even more so when you say that the Spy-Master of Leaf can't have a way to resolve it without problems. You imply we have way more knowledge about the world than him, what sources of power he possesses and that we have every point of view, letting us directly say that he can't do anything about this.

So yeah. Still thinking that Telling Jiraya that a potential deathblow for his position is coming from his blindspot, rather than keep him in the dark, thinking that he has no way to resolve this particular team-level problem before it escalates into Village-level problem. Sending him information WILL help, especially since it comes from a completely private message channel . . . Unless you think that other leaf guys have Pangolin and/or Toad summon scrolls. And im pretty sure no one has them other than our 'Hokage-Jiraya-Clan', since people actually LOOK for such clues.

Anyway - Sending Info > keeping Jiraya in the Dark.

I was thinking something simpler, actually. Edit: Relative to a resurrection seal.

Remember how wars in MfD usually start due to a lack of arable land for growing food? I was thinking that we could make storage scrolls with accelerated time, and work our way up to add the other components (light, water...) to have a crop-growing seal.

His bloodline is actually genetic (or at least, as genetic as other bloodlines - you don't know whether there are actual genes for them). The surgery scene in his interlude was a separate issue.
I'm pretty sure it was strongly implied that surgery was necessary. He said something, to Keiko I believe, about having your entire chakra system pulled out and shoved back in sideways. It was probably early on, while the team were still genin-level and hiding in Iron.

The original version of this is from The Waves Arisen, where Naruto's Water Clones had chakra regen of their own, and with Naruto's massive chakra they were a net plus on his chakra pools.

This version, I think, is to have Water Clones drain things for their own supply to stay around indefinitely, but that doesn't work because clones can't use Bloodline techniques.
That... why hasn't he gone full Von Neumann Army and conquered the world? Why did he even have the Water Element? Why didn't his mom conquer the world? I am so confused!

If I had to guess, the Vampiric Drew is genetic, they need the surgery to use the Barrel with all it's benefits. Without the operation Noburi would perhaps still have increased chakra reserves + the drain, but not level x 50.

PSA: Important clarification about summoning message-passing

When a summon animal is brought to the Human Path, their real body is put in storage and a chakra construct is created for them on the Human Path. It's very much like a henge except the real body is not inside it.

The chakra-construct body will have all the gear that the original was carrying, except that chakra objects will not have chakra -- seals are not infused, etc. You have not attempted to infuse a seal blank created in this way, but Keiko suggests it's probably a bad idea.

Because there is no real body, a summon animal cannot bring stuff back from the Human Path to the Seventh Path. When the summon departs from the Human Path, their construct body and all the gear they brought with them vanish.

In order to pass messages to Jiraiya the following sequence is necessary:
A) Summon a messenger pangolin who is currently in the Toad Clan's embassy
B) Have the pangolin reverse-summon Keiko to the Summon Path
C) She gives Jiraiya's toad a message or message scroll
D) She unsummons herself
E) Eventually Jiraiya summons the toad in question
F) The toad passes Jiraiya the message

Suggests that reliable long distance communication would be a real game-changer, doesn't it?

Trying to think if we've ever seen any examples of "entanglement over distance" chakra phenomenon where two points remain a connection despite being physically separated. That would be something to build on. Off the top of my head: Summoning, Shadow Clones, Genjutsu

Lesser Barrier Formation (and paired seals in general).

He did say that, around the time of Epic Diplomacy iirc. I had thought that was later clarified to be figurative though?

Wait, that reminds me. Does LBF activate seals on both ends or just one?
Each LBF tag can activate up to one other seal, so they can collectively trigger either 0, 1, or 2 tags.

Because if there is one thing the dictator of a country should be spending his time on is advising a C-rank mission :p
A C-rank mission involving the entireity of his clan sans his wife which he gang-pressed into existence and is a significant part of why he has the political power he has? Yes, yes it is. :p

Well the truth probably lays somewhere in the middle. From my perspective we are nothing but political liabilities to Jiraiya. And trying to get the hokage's advice on anything short of actually getting the go ahead to rescue Hana is ridiculous.

To anyone that looks forward (gee, I wonder why the Nara were the first to ally us) we're a massive asset as long as we're given time to grow into our own. Even politically, we are one because Kei is already in a marriage alliance with the Nara.

And anyone that looks past their immediate reaction will be sure to realize that someone who impresses Shikaku and Jiraiya both is someone you'd do well to have on your side. Or dead. Either/or.

My opinion on that is the reason that the Nara want to ally with Jiraiya has a lot more to do with the fact that he was the most likely next Hokage candidate and then Naruto would probably be his successor. Thus being able to exert political influence for generations by marrying Into the clan. Has very little to do with team uplift

Pretty much this.

We're awesome and all, but we're not that awesome.

Going by Shikaku's "unpolished genius", I can definitely both being true.

It's more than just J checking in on us. It's him checking in on the Toads, and getting intel on anything new from the Summon Realm. The Toads have no way of making contact with Jiraiya on their own as far as I know, so if an emergency pops up they have to wait until Jiraiya's next check-in (think to how the Pangolins reacted to the Capybara scroll situation). The fact that this also lets us send messages to him securely and untraceably within a day's time is just a minor bonus that doesn't take up much of his time.

Of course, if we pester him with questions he really doesn't have time to answer and really should be able to figure out ourselves, he'll tell us to stop wasting his time, but asking things like 'Extract Hana from Mist, yea or nay?' and 'Kagome attempted to kill Minimi. She's alive and unharmed and has agreed not to spill the intel, but we thought it was best for you to know as soon as possible in case she spills anyways.' are definitely worth his time.
