@Enjou

Is it somehow because it has to be visible to us? We can try to get around that.

1. On invisible ink: is there any ink that becomes invisible a certain period after writing? Or can be made to become invisible? If the problem is either the conceptual invisibility or transparency of the ink, that might bypass it.

If it really is about being just plain visible, cobalt chloride is invisible while cold, visible while hot, and can alternate between the two multiple times.

What about swapping the reactants?

Alternatively, what about inverting the process? If the ink doesn't work, Leaf does have chakra conductive/reactive paper.

Try using just the vitriol? Oak gall and vitriol as invisible ink and as exposing agent work both ways. Either can be the ink and the other can cause exposure. Vitriol (potentially any sulfate but period-specific is most likely Iron(III) Sulfate) is an inorganic mineral and won't have any natural chakra influence from a previous biological system.

Is there a problem with the inks we were trying to use? Maybe something else would work.

Both of the invisible inks we saw are chemically unprocessed biologicals. If they have their own native chakra, it could be interfering with infusion attempts.

Well, at least we can still try sealing with Nob's already infused chakra water as ink. We should have brought some of it along if we were testing anyway.

Another explanation for the ink might be the absence of metal in the invisible ink formulations. Considering that the ritual involves a brass conductor, that might be something to look into. Fortunately, there should be some colorless metal salts we can use. Simple salt water would be the first thing to try.

Can we infuse visible organic inks derived from biological sources with their own chakra?

Note that we didn't actually try using the invisible ink, either.

-what are the chances that the chakra infusing into invisible ink just became... invisible? They didn't sense the chakra being absorbed by the ink, but it doesn't sound as if they've actually tried to make a seal with it anyway yet.

Other obscuring mechanisms:

Can you just stick a second sheet of paper to the seal so the inked part is in the middle and obscured entirely between the double-thick paper?

Forgoing invisible ink, can we use white ink on white paper of the exact same color?

@1234qwerty I think we could use a little more detail on the Aburame meeting. For instance, noting that Hazou acclimates himself to insect presence beforehand with ants or whatever, so he doesn't freak out; also that he makes a serious effort not to harm their bugs accidentally, or freak out about them at all.

[X] Action Plan: Leaf Montage

Goal:
  • There is no clear goal and direction except to wait for Leaf upper brass to make a decision.
  • Therefore, we should wait, and not rock the boat too much.

Socialization:
  • It doesn't matter too much what Team Uplift wants to do. Just that it achieve the objective of socializing with Leaf denizens somehow.
  • Potential activities that Team Uplift could engage in:
    • Have Hazō volunteers at the library.
    • Tour potential clan compounds with Jiraiya and team.
      • Keep Kagome-sensei from damaging any of them, especially when they are not bought.
    • Invite members of the Rookies Nine to game nights.
    • Somewhat unusual but if possible, tour a papermaking factory?
    • Find out what clubs are there to join.
      • Is there any Scientific Society like the famous Royal Society?
      • Could be GO club, philosophy club, book club, etc. Anything intellectual is welcomed.
      • Crafting club is welcome too.
Seal-related Stuff and Learning:
  • Manufacture ~200 Macerator v2.0 seals.
    • Do this at a non-distracting time in a non-distracting environment, like Hazō's bedroom.
    • Ask Jiraiya about how sealmasters get paid and how much for this kind of work.
    • Ask Jiraiya how urgent this project is.
    • Work around 3 hours per day. More if needed.
  • Find out what the basic seals do. Learn and infuse them.
  • Finish the sealing book.
    • If finished, move on to the next tier sealing book.
  • Start a research notebook so that we can ask Jiraiya in-between updates.
  • Talk to Kagome-sensei or Jiraiya about beginning cryptography lessons.
  • Go on a shopping spree and buy all the books!
    • Budget: 3000 ryo. Purchase books that you can't find at the library. Otherwise, check them out as needed.
    • Machine - Specifically a book that explain simple machines.
    • Physics - Newtonian physics? Thermodynamic? Planetary motion?
    • Math - Need to be able to work the language of physics.
    • Biology - Just a basic biology book will do.
    • History - Could use a different viewpoint from what he already had.
Training:
  • Train with Team Uplift. Possibly members of the Rookie Nine if they can come too.
  • Talk to Jiraiya about expanding Team Uplift's justu library.
    • The genins had been in the field for so long that they are probably behind the average genins in term of justu.
    • Justu ideas:
      • Earthball - Like a Grand Fireball, but with earth instead.
Misc:
  • Conversational Topics with Jiraiya (if there is opportunities)
    • Ask about famous ninja like Kakashi The Copy Ninja and the Four Hokage's son.
      • OOC: So we will learn about Jiraiya's godson.
    • Ask Jiraiya about his plan for the team before Hazō's big mistake.
    • Ask JIraiya about war stories
    • Ask Jiraiya about the Toad Clan's version of history.
Contingencies:

  • Keep Kagome-sensei from blowing anyone up as per usual.
  • Do not say anything that make you seem crazy or dangerous or reckless.
  • Do not divulge sensitive information, especially skywalkers.
    • If anyone ask, "that information is classified".
    • If someone is doubly insistent even after that, back away and consider calling in your escort for assistance.
    • If our escort's in on it, request that we return to our lodgings and tell Jiraiya later.

Did a little editing.

Stole @Enjou's plan. Replaced touring potential clan compounds and volunteering at the library with visiting Konoha's memorial to fallen ninja and arranging a meeting with the Aburame. It'd be nice to have a majority of the clans on our side. Differences in yellow. If there's anything you'd like added, let me know.

[x] Action Plan: Council Concerns

Goals
  • Survive
  • Keep Promises Made
  • Don't screw up the team's prospects
Methods
  1. The GM can write the Shikamaru lunch scene if desired. Link to prior plan, see "Get lunch with Shikamaru."
  2. Visit where Konoha buries and honors their dead ninja.
    1. Reaffirm our uplift goals and consider the stakes involved.
    2. Show respect to fallen Leaf ninja, particularly those who fell at Mists's hands.
    3. Avoid behavior that would reveal our identity, like focusing exclusively on the graves of the squad we killed near Rain.
  3. Arrange and attend a meeting with the Aburame.
    1. Get the okay from our clan. Prepare for the meeting in a similar fashion to our meeting with the Nara.
      1. Acclimatize ourselves to insects(using ants, flies, spiders) beforehand, making a serious effort not to harm any or freak out at all. In short, subvert negative reactions the Aburame most likely get all the time.
    2. Consider meeting with representatives from the non-ninja councils in some manner, as well, but not without Jiraiya's blessing.
  4. Ask Jiraiya about his godson. It would be nice if the team could meet him. See if he could get him to come over for dinner.
  5. Misc. (to be written on screen at GM discretion)
    1. Make 200 Macerator 2.0 seals.
    2. Ask Jiraiya for an update on the Capybara scroll mission preparations. If necessary, do this in a secure location.
Research (to be done as time allows)
  1. Continue reading the basic sealing book.
  2. Learn the basic seals Jiraiya gave us, what they do, and how to infuse them.
  3. Propose new variant of invisible ink seals to test - use black ink on black paper. Not quite invisible, but still harder for others to see. Don't try this before asking Jiraiya and Kagome.
  4. Suggest Kagome work on impulse seals(force seals that generate less force, but constantly over more time) if he isn't otherwise occupied, for example with skywalkers. These will be helpful with air ships and making things go BOOM.

Weird and bizarre of Hazo to go to the cemetery. I am not quite sure what you want to do with the Aburame given that they don't like us.

I see both as being related. We want to be liked by Leaf factions. Meeting with people that don't like us gives us the opportunity to change their mind. Going to the cemetery is a way of expressing our sympathy to lives outside of Mist or ourselves, distancing ourselves from the reputation of missing nin being selfish and disloyal. It also gives us a chance to get more info on our societal downfall hypothesis and potentially ferret out more Leaf propaganda if they mess with their KIA records.

My problem is that Hazō doesn't know these people, so it make him look weird, bizarre, and insincere when he visit. Until recently, they were his enemies and his mother's enemies. They didn't really do anything for him. If you want to show that Hazō is loyal, he has to do something for Leaf, not symbolically bow to a memorial of people who sacrificed for their country and not for him.

I am also not sure what you are trying to accomplish by going to the Aburame. What exactly do you want to talk to them about? What Hazō can offer the clan what they don't already have? What unique insight that Hazō can supply the Aburame? Why would they be grateful to him when Hazō can do the same for any other clans?

Mercy for Velorien! Always a fan of sparing the poor QMs of the usual length of our plans.

You were too late, @Enjou. You were too late.
