• Hazou should indicate his approval of Tea, which is the safest place currently available (to our knowledge).
  • When making a base, I think you mean "Camo" not "Cameo".
  • Probably not the best idea for us (i.e., Hazou) to laze around after the clusterfuck (also, probably not best idea to use that phrasing: use destress).
    • The rest of the team has justifiable reasons to relax. We are the source of the fuckup; we should respond accordingly by working overtime to help the base/team. Get the feeling if we laze around it'll look bad on us.
  • After-Action Report should be us and us alone, TBH. We're the ones that fucked up, we should hold the blame.
    • That also means we should probably have one written down, damn.
I'll start up on SOP for base-building, hopefully it'll be decent.

I'll respond point by point.
  • I have no idea what the hivemind wants. We should do a straw poll.
  • Fixed.
  • Already indicated that Hazou will do more/unwanted chores. Made it clearer.
  • After-Action report is a team activity. It doesn't matter if everything is Hazou's fault. We also don't need to repeatedly apologize and get on the team's nerve.

Anyway, here's an in-progress action plan.

[X] Action Plan: We're FREEEEEEEEE!

Goal:

1. Don't Die
2. Go Underground
3. Rest & Recuperate

Methods:

Phase 1
  • Discuss with team beforehand where we want to go.
  • During escort:
    • Make sure Kagome don't do anything stupid or rash.
    • Be courteous. Say nothing unless addressed.
    • Be on alert for threats.
  • Once a bit past the border(20 km~) and no escort, execute SOP:LRM.
  • Keep moving until Mari-sensei judged a good spot to set up camp.

Phase 2
  • For nearby locations, execute Intel Checklist discretely, and henged.
  • Set up camp. MEW shelter. Camo. Make seal traps and regular traps, watch schedule. You know the drill. (We don't have a base-building SOP)
  • The team will destress for two days other then camp maintenance and security.
    • However, Hazou will do the most dirty, unwanted, and annoying jobs for the team as repentance.
  • The team will do an After Action Report on the Konoha clusterfuck.
  • Start on training plans.
Contingencies:
  • Be polite and courteous.
    • If part of our plan results in not being polite or courteous, override that part of the plan.
    • Ignore this contingency if a threat appears, and speed of warning is more important than phrasing.
  • Be alert.
    • Keep an eye out for threats.
    • Alert the team if a threat appears, and Hazo is the first to notice.

    • The rest of the team has justifiable reasons to relax. We are the source of the fuckup; we should respond accordingly by working overtime to help the base/team. Get the feeling if we laze around it'll look bad on us.

Agreed. Stuff like doing more chores (hunting, firewood, cooking if he's good at it, etc.), taking the worst night-watch shift. Maybe make some preparations that'd be nice for the team down the line, like sealing up some food or supplies.

  • After-Action Report should be us and us alone, TBH. We're the ones that fucked up, we should hold the blame.
    • That also means we should probably have one written down, damn.

This is hard. I feel like the OOC report is pretty clear - don't make statements to powerful people without being very very sure they're going to read well. I'm not at all sure what the IC report looks like. I guess the same, but maybe cashed out in terms of like - run possible dialogue branches by teammates, write notes before the conversation, practice holding back in convos even when feeling emotional?

I guess also more emotional regulation/stress-reduction; the Youthsuit event was also due to Akane-stress, that's two really bad scrapes H has gotten into* because he was worried about her. Not sure how to fix this. Lessons from Inoue on accepting the dangers in the ninja world? Meditation? Dialectical behavior therapy??

Probably the best reasonable thing would be having friends he can talk through his emotions with, and it's going to take a while before he has that :(

[X] Action Plan: We're FREEEEEEEEE!

I'm not sure we should be trying to dictate our team's actions, even for the minor stuff like destress time, given recent events. Most of the planned actions seem reasonable enough, though.

We still need to decide what to do, otherwise it will be a short update, and EJ will be most displeased.

I'd say we don't talk in front of powerful people at all if we can avoid it. All communication should be written out and reviewed by Mari before it's handed over.

They are always watching/listening no matter what we do. So, it doesn't change anything.
That is true. But my comment was in response to the idea that we have to write out our conversations for review instead of just talking to her about it. At least then there's no physical evidence of a fuckup (paper).

Does anyone have any serious destinations besides Tea? Iron was mentioned briefly but FMPOV most of the agreement has been in favor of Tea.

I'd still like to discuss traveling farther away but Tea works for now.

Hm. That has the advantage of maybe finding a better place, but has the disadvantage of being unknown. Traveling east would put us close to Mist (AHHHHH) and traveling west would put us into Claw/Fang/Mountain/Bear, which the GMs have confirmed we have no knowledge of.

Hm. @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Did our books give us anything about Claw/Fang/Mountain/Bear?

First on the list of a new subheading: Suggested activities.

Yeah, that sounds like a good plan.

I sort of want that bingo book we were promised though. We need something to base decisions on that isn't "This place sounded good in canon or filler and/or we've been through there for all of a week", and at least having a list of high profile badasses would allow us to get the fuck out of dodge if the dice gods decide random encounters will be fun.

I don't like going to Tea and think we should go somewhere else. Here's some reasons why:
  • We have been there and our enemies know that (Nobby's barrel, the faction that gave us Hot Springs quest)
  • It's surrounded by water on three sides, meaning running away is hard and we can easily be boxed in
  • VHitM is there and we don't want to bring any attention to them
  • VHitM is there meaning extra Fire (and other village who know got access to the info) scrutiny and we don't want to tangle with them
We should not go anywhere we have gone before. I would like to jump over the sea to Vegetable or something, but sea travel is going to take a lot of preparation.

I suggest we go to Fang and see if we can hole ourselves up there somewhere for some Stealth training. If things look peaceful and we are not being harried by hostile ninjas, we cut a deal with pangolins and build a small underground base there for some intermediary sealing research.

Also, we can't just beam straight to Fang or wherever. We need make sure that our enemies, especially Leaf, don't know where we are headed or where we are staying.

Don't underestimate civilians. Stealth is not one of those things that benefits from chakra, so in principle all that separates ninja and civilians sneaking is better training and physical conditioning.
Wait wait wait. That means, in principle, that every single village should train civvies to spec into Stealth, Awareness, and Trapmaking hard, then absolutely murder the combat-specced jounin who try to invade their strongholds.
I think the utility of Chakra Adhesion and Chakra Repulsion should be reflected in the mechanics, if Hazou doesn't already know how absurdly dangerous a Civilian-nin can be.

@Twofold:

Hm. Best way to get through Fang is go through Waterfalls and Earth, and hope we don't get caught. Alternatively we can go to Iron (for medic training) and then go across the sea (or through Waterfalls) to Earth, and then to Fang (probably bad, since Zabuza is nearby). Still, I'm really worried about this plan since it's moving us through another of the Big 5 and a strong minor country just to end up in a completely new country whose local ninja structure is unknown to us ATM.

I find myself less comfortable to traveling a longer distance (Waterfalls to Earth to Fang) through more dangerous territory (all of these places have a Hidden Village, Tea has none) to end up in a location completely foreign to us (which, again, may have its own Hidden Village). I do not believe the possible hostiles towards us (Hot Springs questgivers, Fire ninjas) are going to be a problem: the questgivers have a base on the other side of the peninsula and the Fire ninjas are situated in local towns, and we can avoid both these places rather easily.

As for being boxed in, I'm unsure if that's even possible to do a proper sweep (i.e., no way for us to slip through) without effectively declaring war on Tea. Yagura would certainly want to capture us but I don't think he's willing to declare war on Leaf (who are Tea's major allies) just yet.

Now that I think about it, not being tracked is currently not within our skillset. Our Stealth dice is still too low for that even if we don't factor in the rebalancing. We might have to go somewhere nearby and spend a week getting up on Stealth so that we can travel around without being immediately noticed.

Actually, with the rebalancing I don't think we can dodge a proper tailing attempt even if we try.

Okay, here's how I would play this in practical terms:
  1. Exit from Leaf to River
  2. Stay in the river countryside for a week to train Stealth.
    • Don't have contact with anyone, sleep in the bushes and don't build MEW bases
  3. Once we have trained Stealth properly (15 dice or more) enter one of the border villages to Sand and figure out what does it take to travel across desert terrain (in NE part of Sand)
    • Make sure Nobby doesn't go to the town due to barrel (Maybe just have Mari do this?)
  4. Then, we take circuitous route to Fang through Sand, Claw, and Earth to make sure we can't be tracked easily
    1. River -> Sand
    2. Sand -> Claw
    3. Claw -> Earth
    4. Earth -> Fang
  5. Lay low for a week without making any MEW bases and see if anyone follows us
  6. Start negotiating with the pangolins for an underground base builder
  7. Build a sealing base and make something to blow up the word (if not literally then figuratively)

The medic in Iron has one of Noburi's barrels, right? Maybe we should quickly dip in there and pick it up?

That barrel is a lost cause and we should never go back for it.

We have been there too many times and the fact that we left something valuable behind means that our enemies know to set up a trap for us.

The limiting factor there, from a mechanical perspective, is going to be XP.
Well, yes, but if Mayor Emiya can get enough of that from her day-to-day life to consistently outroll Inoue's Deception, I refuse to believe that Stealth-and-Trap-specced Chakra Monster Hunters can't. Likewise, C-rank stealth missions should probably give as much XP as C-rank combat missions. There are certainly options, if Stealth doesn't rely on utility jutsu.

The thing about such a hunter is that if they miss even a single stealth roll - what do they do? They can't TacMov away. They can't kill the things in more typical ninja combat (no Taij or Weap). They can't use seals to fight them off, at least until you all come up with civilian-usable explosives. The alternative is to spend ninja power babysitting them, which could be used to just go do the thing you're training the civilians for.
