Since I doubt training plans were implemented due to the short time:

[X] Training Hazou: DODGE
TacMov -> 23eff26 [105/127]
Save 22XP

[X] Training Noburi: DODGE
TacMov -> 24 [69/86.5]
Save 17.5XP

[X] Training Keiko: DODGE
TacMov -> 25 [94/96]
Save 2XP

[X] Training Hazou: DODGE
[X] Training Noburi: DODGE
[X] Training Keiko: DODGE

As is, substitution is enormously cheaper at the higher levels - if it didn't come at the cost of having shit tier initiative, which, as a high ranking jonin you really can't afford.

Eh, I figure Konoha'll figure out a Skywalker-compatible Substitution technique, and Jiraiya will teach us since we're the inventors.
He also said that Vacuum Step works on the same-ish principles as Substitution, so they might work out a skywalker-compatible version of that too for Kei.

"The loss of life on this one was awful and it makes me feel like crap. That said, instead of letting myself be crippled by guilt and sadness, I am choosing to take a positive lesson: We made a mistake, we learned from it, and we *will* do better next time. As part of looking for the positive, I note that the combat side of the operation was flawless. We came up with a good plan and the two of you did so well that there was nothing left for the rest of us to do. Keiko, you demonstrated just how powerful and useful your pangolins are, exactly as you said they would be. Noburi, I don't think any of us realized how strong you have become. You dealt with that situation with surgical precision: no non-combatants were killed in the takedown and you effortlessly captured two experienced ninja with no risk to our team. You guys rule."
TBH that comes across far more like "we just killed 60 civilians, but we're strong so who cares?"

Also we should be aware that even with going the tacmove route we still die if we have to roll against anyone competent in combat. If we go Roki + pangolin claw for Hazō he has a chance to not die against a Jounin. We can do that and get him to tacmove 24

What is up with you and the spyglass?
It seems like an obvious and extremely potent tool for us given skytowers and skywalkers. It would let us:
  • Track targets from beyond their ability to see us
  • Use a team and multiple skytowers to read lips and spy on conversations happening outside in villages
  • Ensure we only hit the targets we want to when dropping MEW ordinance from miles in the sky
  • Provide an additional layer of defense against skywalkers (by having people constantly using spyglasses/telescopes to scan the skies)
  • Make substitution broken again (line of sight is now 10s of miles)

Uh-huh, uh-huh, I'm following...

There's the Radvic we all love!

Minami gives us every single one of these things. Also:
While I'm hereish: we've answered this one before. Substitution has a range limit, which extra vision does not get rid of.
Substitution isn't broken by telescopes or spyglasses.

Minami gives us every single one of these things. Also:
Minami does not give us any these things, at least, not in the way I want them. Minami gives us these things if she has been present at the location we're trying to spy on. This is substantially less powerful as it requires a lot of setup, we don't know how many prisms she can maintain at a time, and it cannot be used on places we cannot infiltrate. A spyglass would mean we don't need to infiltrate the area we want to spy on prior to spying on it, and wouldn't leave chakra residue around for other sensors to track.

Substitution isn't broken by telescopes or spyglasses.
Informative. However, I'm pretty sure there are other line of sight jutsu which this would be useful for (MEW, Firefly, Windwall, Zypher's Reach, clones, and the Wisper jutsu all come to mind).

K, added getting a spyglass/telescope.
Here's a basic plan that does nothing but what the mission entails, plus a (mostly-empty) conversation with Akane. Obviously it's boring as shit. Feedback and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

[X] Action Plan: Rationalization
  • General:
    • Best girlfriend is best team leader. She says X? DO X!
    • When moving, minimize chatter in favor of alertness.
  • Main Questline:
      • (Almost) nonstop 15-16hr run back.
      • Break only when we need to replace Skywalkers.
        • Take this time to replenish chakra, food, and water.
        • Noburi can check on the prisoners to ensure they are alive but chakra-drained. Unconscious if appropriate.
        • If SOP, slightly hydrate the prisoners.
      • During one such break, check Goda & his retinue for false teeth/cyanide capsules.
        • Just in case Minami missed it. She did seem out of it.
      • If we MUST stop to sleep, set up a Skytower and sleep. Keep shifts.
      • Drop off Goda and his ninja bodyguards. Also give the intel we recovered.
        • Ask if they want us to wake them up via chakra water.
      • If prompted, give a mission briefing.
      • Collect weapons & food supplies.
        • See if we can get a spyglass or telescope.
      • Take some time to rest after our run. Keep shifts.
        • If allowed, sleep in Konoha. Our old apartment, or estate if Jiraiya bought it.
        • If not allowed, head a ways to our destination, set up a Skywalker, and then sleep.
      • Skywalk back to the team.
        • It's a 22 hour run (to Nagi Island, on average). Don't exhaust ourselves with a second all-nighter.
  • Talk with Akane.
    • Do this when we have a break. Maybe when we're breaking, or after we've slept.
    • See if she's alright.
    • Give her a hug.
