Any chance you can make it Snowflake XOR Ami? Those two can't be in the same room. (As in, Snowflake spontaneously dispels if Ami enters the room she's in.)
- Meet with Kei, Mari, Noburi, Snowflake,
- Include Ami if it isn't treason, Ma and Pa if possible, Ruri and/or Shikamaru if Kei signs off, Haru as Mari's apprentice spymaster.
Current word count is 272, room for improvement and edits. This largely throws to NPCs, but I think it does so in a way that at least proposes solutions and pieces of solutions.
[X] [Conclave] Action Plan: Bracing for Impact
Word count: <300
- Meeting
- Meet with Kei, Mari, Noburi, Snowflake,
- Include Ami if it isn't treason, Ma and Pa if possible, Ruri and/or Shikamaru if Kei signs off, Haru as Mari's apprentice spymaster.
- Problem: summarize Kei's Pantsaa-related concerns.
- What is the plausible worst-case outcome?
- Execution? Pantsaa taking Kei hostage? Limiting her influence on the Seventh Path and/or contracts?
- What are the threat timeframes?
- Assets:
- Leaf-allied Summon clans.
- Rats - friendly, perhaps even allies?
- Kei discussed her potential status as an extra-legal agent and floated the idea of Pangolin traitors.
- Approaches:
- Contact and debrief Confute. Find out who tied her bonds/arrange for her to attack Hazo. Claim an offsite interrogation was necessary to avoid interference.
- Frame as: Confute's escape was necessary to uncover traitors.
- If Conjura approves of taking Archeopteryx territory, Kei floats the complete (willing) expulsion of Condors from their ancestral territory.
- This is risky - does Pantsaa want blood? Is Kei overstepping her authority?
- Are the Pangolins convinced of the Dragon threat? Can we make Kei an indispensable part of the solution?
- If they're not convinced, can we borrow a Dragon part from Orochimaru? (Spend Fate point to Declare the Spiders found one after the fact.)
- Can we make censuring Kei politically undesirable by integrating her with Pangolin allies?
- The Conclave
- Execute whatever plan/setup was decided on.
- Meet with the Capybaras - be polite, offer gifts, discuss the Dragons. Tell our story and ask if it fits with their lore/legends. Have a Rat make an introduction if they're willing.
- Do the same with the Mara, pending Asuma's approval.
- Have Noburi approach the Leopards - his time to shine with them.
- (Offscreen) Ask Ma, Pa, Cannai, and Enma about Boss succession. Be clear why: we're interested in toppling Pantsaa.
[X] [Conclave] Action Plan: Pacifying Pantsaa (A Hundred Years of Peace)
Word count: >300
- Meeting
- Meet with Kei, Mari, Noburi, Snowflake, Haru
- Include Ami if it isn't treason, Ma and Pa if possible, Ruri if Kei signs off, and Shikamaru if Kei thinks he'd be helpful.
- Problem: summarize Kei's Pantsaa-related concerns.
- What is the plausible worst-case outcome?
- What is the threat timeframe?
- One possible approach (to discuss and sanity-check):
- Hazou could proactively reach out to Pantsaa
- Killing/capturing Hazou would be much more politically dangerous than doing so with his own summoner.
- Acknowledge that we are in conflict. Don't apolgise for cutting off seals, but express that we do want to work together, and want to find a way to make this work.
- If Conjura approves of taking Archeopteryx territory, propose the mass-relocation of Condors from their ancestral territory. sweeten the deal with offers of goods and seals(if not used to expand)
- Frees up pangolin territory for pangolins, issuing a bunch of new breeding licenses will build support as well as allowing a population boom.
- We're pretty happy to sell more skytowers, IFF given a promise that Pangolins will stop expanding(for, say, a century), and will keep the seals to within their current borders(no resale/expansion).
- Pangolin has a possibly unprecedented amount of land anyways, and their neighbors are probably getting nervous. point out the need to avoid to provoking a crusade.
- Propose that pangolin take a century to build up a newer and bigger all-pangolin empire, with skytowers to guarantee their defensive security, and a promise against further expansion to calm neighbors
- Use this time to have many kids and let them grow to adulthood, and let the trade network and Goketsu gems(adjust OPSEC by who ends up being present) help them to grow even more rich and prosperous.
- A new, much more connected world order is emerging on the 7th path. Between the trade network and conclave, Pangolin is in a good position to set itself up to be the center of that new world. Invest in that.
- The Dragonwar will give Conjura a perfect chance to press for the condor's freedom anyway. Instead of being forced into it, make the Condors agree to a long-term tax for a century to be allowed to leave. This will win points from the other clans that are freaked out by Pangolin treatment of the Condors, and further the upcoming Pangolin economic boom.
- Other approaches
- Solicit other ideas from the group
- The Conclave
- Direct Noburi to talk to the Leopards
- He can take whatever approach seems best to him, this is his time to shine.
- (Offscreen?) Talk to the Capybara
- Optimize with Mari/Kei
- Get an idea of where they stand and what they think of the dragon threat
- Bestow appropriate gifts
- Ask Ruri if she can summon Convei and figure out why she isn't at the Conclave
- Ask the Rats, and every non-pangolin have a summoner for(Dogs, Monkeys, Porcupines, Turtles ect) about the previous Polemarch and how Pantsaa came to power.
Let me do you one better and quote all the current Conclave plans AFAIK.Can you link your plan since the tally is messed up? It makes plans harder to find. And I think it's the best one currently. The other plan rehashes the Rat meeting which doesn't advance our larger goals at the Conclave at all.
[X] Conclave: The Power of Friendship
Have the respective summoners at the conclave ask their Clan's and allied clan's ambassadors to extract a promise from the Pangolins to not attack any Bosses that come to help with the Crusade.
If successful, pass the message to Ruri/Conjura that it's likely as safe as it's going to get for her to join the Conclave.
[x] [Conclave] Action Plan: Not One Unusual Thing Has Ever Happened
Word count: <300.
- Meet the Rats again. Sanity-check with Mari.
- Nezala's speculations on the Seventh Path's design interested you. On both Paths, everything to do with the Sage is steeped in legend, and usually revered, in a way that's hostile to questioning. The Rat Clan, however, seems like it'd interested in the physical truth of what happened during that era...
- You're also interested. The nature of reality is of utmost relevance to improving the sapient condition within it...
- ... And for protecting it. Let us suppose, for this discussion, that the Dragons are real. Not as mythical beings, but as a banal part of the world, sitting some distance thataway. Conditional on that, how do the Rats' beliefs on the past change?
- Notably, you're not asking "what legends are true?"; none are. You care about the latent truths that legends are refractions of.
- From your end, share the information on Pain's Rinnegan (and whatever ritual Akatsuki planned), the bijuu and the overview of sealing failures (if the Rats don't know about either), Jashin, and whatever insights the Summoning Scroll and the Great Seal granted you.
- Meditate on the Out before the meeting, write insights down, then filter them into sane-sounding speech. (Source: unspecified sealing lore.)
- Topics of interest:
- The Rat Clan's broad agreed-upon inferences about the Sage's era, if they exist. Again: physical truths, not legends. What's the story?
- Any other sealed monstrosities? Between the Dragons (supposedly reclaiming their powers by exterminating Clans) and the bijuu, "split the monster, seal the parts" seems the Sage's modus operandi...
- Don't mention the Five. Do steer the conversation if something relevant seems to have come up.
- What's this about "summoning Death"?
- Cross-dimensional travel. Any helpful lore? What's cosmology like?
- Don't talk about your necromancy plans, but do describe whatever of Naraka you've seen.

Wait, really? Citation?Any chance you can make it Snowflake XOR Ami? Those two can't be in the same room. (As in, Snowflake spontaneously dispels if Ami enters the room she's in.)
I'll float it but clarify that the primary purpose of the discussion is assessing and mitigating risk to Kei in the short-to-medium term. I expect toppling Pantsaa to be a long-term project.Other than that, maybe move the topic of toppling Pantsaa to the main discussion, so that we can get Ami/Mari/Ruri's take on that.
Uh, but to be clear, that's not a metaphysical effect."Snowflake's behaviour towards you at Yuno's engagement party was… unacceptable. I was mortified when I remembered. Please, accept my most sincere apologies."
"Snowflake's… oh." Hazō felt himself blush, but after his experience talking to Yoku, it barely registered as uncomfortable. "Don't worry about it. I wasn't offended at all."
"Good," Keiko said. "You can be assured that we had words on the subject the next day. In fact—"
Then, something very strange happened.
Ami walked into the main room. (This in itself wasn't strange because this was, officially, an event to support Keiko.)
Keiko and the Snowflakes' heads simultaneously pivoted to face her, ignoring whatever they had been in the middle of doing. (This in itself also wasn't unusual.)
Then, after a second's hesitation, every Snowflake dispelled herself at once.
Keiko's eyes widened. "Excuse me," she choked out, then turned and ran from the building. Hazō made to follow, but stopped when Ami shook her head.
"Leave it, Hazō," she said softly. "She'll come back."
"Is she all right?" Hazō found himself asking what on reflection was a rather stupid question.
"Keiko's fine," Ami said.
It's unclear if Snow has gotten more used to Ami by now. That does seem like something she'd be able to handle better as she establishes more of a life for herself. No doubt she was like this at first but it might no longer be the case.
Fair, but I don't think we have a recent precedent to compare against; the latest I recall is that during the Ami vs. Mari debacle, Snowflake was still uncomfortable even around the subject of Ami:It's unclear if Snow has gotten more used to Ami by now. @faflec, was there anything more recent on the subject?"Yes," Hazō agreed, "only the opposite of that. You know how Ami just got back from Mist?"
Kei glanced alertly at Snowflake.
Snowflake spent a few seconds looking at Hazō, studying his expression.
"I will be fine," she muttered.
"Right," Hazō said. "So after the war council, she and I ended up talking…"
Fair, but I don't think we have a recent precedent to compare against; the latest I recall is that during the Ami vs. Mari debacle, Snowflake was still uncomfortable even around the subject of Ami:
In fairness, HDK that.
H does too K that! Ami and Snowflake were present in the same room during Snowflake's first appearance, and the problems only started after that one time Snowflake tried to hang out with Ami alone. And while it's technically possible that there was a metaphysical change in either of their natures that just so happened to coincide with the interpersonal shift, that seems supremely dubious.
Still disagree heavily on this. Canvass needs a trail that is days old to actually track someone. Very useful when we have a starting point (Team Akane's campsite), much less useful when we have no trail and appear on a random beach.if we can summon Canvass into the Pure Lands with no problem, tracking seals would become obsolete.
As a followup to Force Walls, Force Wall weaponry is probably a good direction if we think general ass-kickery is going to be needed (and it sort of seems like it might be. Wasn't it implied somewhere that human souls are not the only thing living in Naraka? They may not like interlopers coming in and grabbing people.)Category 3: Seals potentially useful for the true expedition:
- Any seals from Category 2 that the research trip indicates are within our means to make.
- Fourfold Barrier & Greatshield seal
- Prereqs: 5SB & Force Wall
- Radio seals
- Prereq: Infrared-telescope seals
- Directional Explosives
- Tracking seals
Well, how do you imagine these tracking seals working then? The most consistent impression I have is that they're supposed to scan the entire Pure Lands (or at least an area kilometers in radius) and point us in the direction of his chakra signature, but that sounds impossible to me for multiple different reasons. We don't have any seals that defeat the chakra diffusion problem so thoroughly even in the EN, and I highly doubt that a chakra-based tracking seal would be unimpeded by the path drain of the Pure Lands.Still disagree heavily on this. Canvass needs a trail that is days old to actually track someone. Very useful when we have a starting point (Team Akane's campsite), much less useful when we have no trail and appear on a random beach.
Good thoughts, I'll add something along that vein.As a followup to Force Walls, Force Wall weaponry is probably a good direction if we think general ass-kickery is going to be needed (and it sort of seems like it might be. Wasn't it implied somewhere that human souls are not the only thing living in Naraka? They may not like interlopers coming in and grabbing people.)
Also, if indeed the 5SB box stall strategy is something Kagome thinks is workable there's likely going to be a lot of defensive seals like Jiraiya's Fire Absorbers we'll want to have on hand. Might want to just add a bullet for like "General Defenses/Akatsuki repellant" or something. Hell, might even be worth researching a 6SB with extra esoteric defenses or something.
Fair, but I don't think we have a recent precedent to compare against; the latest I recall is that during the Ami vs. Mari debacle, Snowflake was still uncomfortable even around the subject of Ami:
@faflec, was there anything more recent on the subject?
Around the corner, by the room's exit into the Nara inner bedchambers, Snowflake quietly slunk away from Kei and Ami's reunion. Snowflake was not permitted to enjoy the sun's rays, but she had thought it possible to let herself be warmed by the sunlight's reflection. What a typical punishment for her hubris it was, to be burnt by the sunlight without being permitted to partake of its warmth.
[X] Training Plan (Noburi): Deceit
Deceit 19 -> 20 (-20 General XP)
20 General XP Remaining
From the Discordbut that sounds impossible to me for multiple different reasons
ProperAttorney said:Re: Seal complexity reducers.
I wonder how significant these are. Like, would it be possible to make long distance tracking seals that 1) require a blood sample, 2) have four elements, 3) only works when stationary, 4) takes a minute to start working, and 5) is disrupted by chakra emissions?
Paperclipped said:Hm, it sounds like quite the project but I expect you could get an OOM improvement on sensory range. Maybe 2.
That's... honestly better than I expected, but a fair bit worse than I hoped. Especially the part where those are the prospective specs without interference from the path drain, which I really do think is a major problem for seals like this. From the Discord
Now, that's not a guarantee or anything, but when you consider that a radius of 1 zone is possibly 10 meters, an improvement of two orders of magnitude makes that have a range of a kilometer in each direction.
No guarantees, no known effects of what the Path Drain will do to hypothetical effects, only really unknowns to deal with, but it is possible, so discarding it out of hand because it doesn't fit your model of what seals can do seems like a mistake to me.
