Also, this way falconking can have his facepunching update on Thursday, while his Malevolence will get to reveal Akane's fate on Sunday.

Win-win!!!

I stand corrected. T_T

I think the most interesting scenario here would be if everyone dies. The Akatsuki, J-Man, Hiashi, Tsunade, all the other Kage, most of the ENs S-rankers. A society in which almost all the most personally and politically powerful ninja are dead, the dawn of a new era where no one has any idea what the fuck they're doing. Out with the old, in with the new.

3 days huh.....

Wow this wait is already agonizing. I want to know what's happening so badly.

Also a thought, I'm not sure how the seals on Jinchuriki work but they're all on the island and there's a decent chance at least one dies. If the tailed beasts just pop out when the host dies then that's a whole new factor to consider.

I have to say, I would dearly love to write this battle, because it would be amazing. On the other hand, we're leery about giving away that much OOC information, and about opening ourselves to cries of "why didn't they...?!"
If I may make a suggestion, write the interlude using a framing device of someone who was there telling Team Uplift the story of how things happened. You can have them speak speculatively about things they didn't see and only heard about, hiding the ball on information you want kept under wraps still.

You could write the directly witnessed parts in third person present like a regular interlude, then flash forward to Jiraiya or whoever talking about the speculative parts or parts you want to skim over in broad generalities with the kids in past tense, going back and forth however many times you need to to tell the whole story.

As for 'Why didn't they...?', well, everyone makes mistakes and doesn't think of things in moments of intense crisis. I know I've done it. Hindsight with time to think about all of your options often reveals better solutions than the ones you thought of in the moment. Someone not thinking of something that would have worked better is entirely realistic.

Sometimes I think one of the best super powers of all would be the ability to pause the world and think as long as you needed to.

[X] Lore Update: Titanomachy On Nagi Island
[X] Lore Update: Battle of the Gods: More Godliness

I'm voting this now to show support but I also would not be adverse to the regular plan taking precedence and this lore update going next cycle, so eaglejarl can get to write the S-rank punching.

I'm also in favour of the loosely-connected-vignettes idea, since there are a lot of people here which makes for a lot of perspectives, and if OliWhail is any indication there's a lot of cool individual-moments-not-necessarily-connected-to-the-greater-flow-of-battle to show off.

I'm sure there's at least a couple vignettes that can be shown without dealing with TOO much OOC information.

[X] Lore Update: Titanomachy On Nagi Island

Worry not, wise QMs, as long as the battle will have at least one abomination from the out popping up, no criticism will escape my lips, aside from "not enough abominations from the Out".
Bonus point if it's a clan we can make a summoning contract with.

Jokes asides
I solemnly swear not to nitpick or badger the QM's about the results. I trust them.
Same for me, we trust you, QMs

Yes, that would have been an interesting scenario.

Or perhaps would be. I suppose it's possible it came out that way.

Still, there are vastly worse possibilities....

something something Hiashi was the traitor something something screaming in Manaka
I'd be great if Hiashi is a traitor. Then we get to kill him with impunity.

I'm thinking the worst case scenario is if Akatsuki do something to mind control all the heavy hitters sent to deal with them, and now we've got an army of S and A class ninja we'd really rather avoid hurting to deal with.

Who's Manaka, again?
Inuzaka clan heir, sometimes.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail When A Family Dies came out it was revealed that OC (?) Inuzuka Manaka, not Inuzuka Tsume (Kiba's mother), was the head of the Inuzuka Clan; this was later confirmed by Word of QM. Yet in future chapters and various interludes1 it's been implied and even outright stated that Kiba is the Inuzuka Clan Heir, despite Kiba not being Manaka's son. Could we have confirmation (one way or another) regarding Kiba's heir status?

1As seen in Chapters 184 and 188; and the interlude Team Clanless Sparring.

I hate to bring something up multiple times, but I fear it got overlooked in the excitement;

What are people's thoughts on the idea of having Tsunade look at Noburi's Wakahisa surgical alterations if he consents? She'd probably be excited about it because it could expand her knowledge, someone surgically altering chakra coils is pretty remarkable, but of more immediate importance bringing her knowledge in might mean she could spot ways to improve on the Wakahisas' work. Maybe make Noburi's chakra use a bit more efficient by reducing energy loss or improve it in some other more radical way.

I know Tsunade's the super-awesome person for this sort of thing, but Jiraiya recommended Kabuto, who is the bloodline expert IIRC. Tsunade is also not going to be at Leaf until after the Nagi Island battle, whereas Kabuto probably is.

I think that before we spend Noburi's XP on CR we should check that he can actually use shadow clones with Kabuto, tbh.

It'll be useful when we make him the next Toad summoner because all we hear back about the Nagi Island fight is "RUN AWAY AIIIEIIIEIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!"

It would have been a very different story going forward. Sarutobi had little motivation to induct you into Leaf and no incentive to adopt you as a clan. Your future with Leaf would have been pretty much shut down, meaning no more missions or rewards from Jiraiya and no real chance to see Akane or any of the canon characters again.

Faflec's posts always send down these rabbit holes deep in the thread's "before times" and this got me curious

if Hiruzen had been the one to live would he have really been that uninterested in two sealsmiths and a summoner converting to Konoha? If so, would he have really just let us leave the village?
