I'm pretty sure we've had this conversation and 80% sure if we got an answer the answer was yes.
In particular, I'm confident that it's been brought up that people knew the Earth was round thousands of years ago (from experiments like measuring the length of shadows in certain places at certain times of day on certain days), and thus it would be very reasonable to assume the Elemental Nations with 12th century tech level would know this.
We should probably check to be sure. Not something we want to forget.
I know, I just didn't feel like going through the longer explanation, and it's all ultimately the Oyabun's anyways. Jiraiya told us to get the Oyabun a gift for it IIRC, which is the important thing.

Perhaps we should write a letter of apology and explanation with such careful calligraphy as to have taken hours of painstaking work as a gesture of apology? And include that one of the reasons he didn't bring up to Jiraiya, that he wanted to meet Ami, was that he wanted to find out what kind of person could hurt his sister like that? (Now, naturally, he knows.)

I wouldn't make that assumption when the same update describes the results of the other thing we got permission for. In juxtaposition with that it seems clear that it didn't happen, to me.
