"Oh, please," Fukasaku sneered. "Tongue enhancement is the first trick any young Toad learns, and a sense of proportion is the second. Sounds like little Oro is overcompensating something fierce."
really? i wonder how seeing Jiraiya pulling his meaty appendage in front of the enemy and wiggling it around could have given Orochimaru the idea to one-up him.

Gosh can we get more Noburi interadting with the toads? They are the best

edit: Also if we don't decide to sell the dragon parts to Oro now we should schedule a time where he can negotiate to buy them from Noburi with Ma and Pa advising

Question: Jiraiya left all his jutsu to Naruto. Jiraiya learned some of those same jutsu from the Toads (such as the Hair Needle one). If Noburi learns a jutsu from the Toads, and that specific jutsu was one that Jiraiya left a copy of in Naruto's inheritance (such as the Hair Needle Jutsu), would Asuma consider that to be theft? Noburi wouldn't have learned it from Jiraiya, or even from Jiraiya's notes, but directly from the Toads, themselves.

Agreed. Ma and Pa Toad are absolute dears, and I love their "griping old couple" dynamic... But they also have a depth of knowledge and wisdom that is both subtle and terrifying. I wonder if Noburi will begin to lean on them for advice and wisdom, the way that Jiraiya did? He could certainly do worse, imo.

April Townhall

SV Monthly Townhall Good afternoon! This Saturday is the next townhall meeting! Join us on Discord to talk about SV, raise concerns or suggestions, or just chat! Or maybe just end up joining the after-meeting insanity. In addition, if you think something should be brought up, feel free to post...

@eaglejarl and @Velorien, this is an interesting post in that it displays a time in the viewer's native timezone. At this point most players are used to the deadlines for voting etc., but it might be worth checking out. The syntax is also simple. Replacing the parentheses with square brackets gets you...

e: it's found under Advanced BBCode. I think your time zones would be America/Chicago and Europe/London.

I think it's fine if Noburi learns stuff from the Toads. Jiraiya didn't own those jutsu so he can't transfer ownership to Naruto.

Re-reading this interlude, seems like there may be some insight into Akatsuki's objective

"You were the worm dangled in front of Little Turtle, but wrapped in steel so that he would break his jaws on you. He didn't, but all his friends did. Then the dawn came and ground you beneath bloody wheels. They unwrapped all your steel and flew away with you and Little Turtle in their claws. The bloody wheels tore open your brain and nightmares spilled out, so you ran to your innermost den and have hidden here ever since. You forgot to bring all of you with you, though, so conversations become circular once you fall through your empty head. I try to keep the path straight but there are so many thread to untangle and they all pull on each other when you move one of them. Straightness is very much a question of perception."
Naruto was the bait for Yagura, who had more backup than he was supposed to... Yagura was not defeated, but his allies were. Akatsuki arrived and used the Sharingan on Naruto, and took out the rest of Leaf's forces. The Sharingan then began tormenting Naruto, so he turned his mind inward, to his innermost den...with Kurama? His mind is fuzzy so he can't finish his thoughts.

"The Earth Rendering has besmirched the name of the Absent Death," she tried. "He claims his skills are faded and do not apply to the needs of communion. Death carves at the door to the great hall because the chancellor will not allow him to look through the window, but the daimyo is safe in his bed. The noise awakens him and he feels the pain of his castle for it is made of his bones. He attempts to summon a servant but the bell pull is not where he expects and he doesn't recognize that it is actually his hair because, again, the stones of the castle were carved from his bones."
Uh, Absent Death is Itachi. I'm guessing Deidara would be Earth Rendering, and he's mocking Itachi for not contributing to... whatever the hell their ritual was, I'm guessing. Hidan got put outside like a pet. Who's the Daimyo? Pain? Or is Pain the chancellor? The castle is made of his bones... I have no idea. The Communion seems like it could be trying to complete Ninshu like we've speculated.

"The Absent Death grows frustrated," the woman said sadly. "He has disappointed his master for so long and all of the papers are hurled to the ground in crumpled balls. Beware, for he is beginning to pry at the castle's foundations. If he does not stop soon then the donjon will collapse and the light of the ancient stars will be lost to the sky once more."
Hmm, Itachi is frustrated because he's failing Pain. What are the papers though? Seals? Information he's trying to extract from Naruto? It seems like the castle could be Naruto's mind, but that Itachi was dangerously close to loosing the 9 tails or something.

The castle is made of his bones... I have no idea.
Perhaps the Daimyo is Sasori. Daimyos command others to fight in their stead, Sasori commands many puppets to fight in his stead. Sasori replaced (part of?) his body with puppet parts, lines up with his castle (puppet body) being made of his bones.

What are the papers though? Seals? Information he's trying to extract from Naruto?
I think it is more likely he is trying to get information from Kurama, possibly related to her being split from the 10-tails.

General interpretation is that Mystery Woman is the Kyuubi.

If we say that "your door" means "the valve that you can open to access the Kyuubi's chakra" then this implies something interesting: Naruto is on the wrong side. The room he's in is the inside of the jinchurikki seal. The window is probably Naruto's mental representation of an interface for communicating with the Kyuubi without having to open the valve and risk letting it loose.

I suppose you wouldn't want a being of ultimate Chakra Reserves skill to be able to do ninjutsu inside their seal. But it is also adequately explained by "this is all in your head, and you're having a psychotic break", so not terribly helpful at distinguishing whether Naruto has ended up mentally inside the seal.

Okay, simple enough so far. Someone associated with Earth (Kakuzu? Zetsu?) has made disparaging comments regarding the skill level and fitness to be an Akatsuki member of someone who is either immortal (Hidan? Kakuzu? Sasori? Madara?) or is very lethal and thus represents Death, but is literally absent themselves rather than being a person for whom death is absent. The next part suggests the latter, and that that person is Itachi.

If we say the torturer is Itachi using tsukuyomi, then the window could be Naruto's eyes. Alternatively, the window could be the window on the door, meaning that Naruto is the daimyo (being literally "safe in his bed" during this conversation). Then the chancellor could be the Kyuubi (unlikely, I think, but plusible: a chancellor deals with currency -- which could be a metaphor for the chakra the Kyuubi gives to Naruto), or it could be Minato (either Minato's mental copy living in the seal or metaphorically in that Minato's handywork of the seal is too robust for Death to break through).

Easy enough. Naruto is the daimyo. The castle is Naruto's body. Naruto tried to make a rasengan just now (a jutsu is chakrAI acting like a servant for the ninja), but he couldn't because he's inside the seal -- his "body" is a mental representation, not a real body with real chakra parts, so his ability to interface with chakrAI isn't where he expects it to be (he expects it to be inside his body, but he's not actually living in his body right now so his chakra system isn't there so chakrAI doesn't respond).

Little Turtle is the Sanbi. Naruto didn't get the mizukage, but he did get the other Mist jonin.

Akatsuki showed up, and Itachi mindraped him, and they got away with both jinchurikki.

Naruto broke under torture and had a psychotic break and desperately stuffed his mind inside the jinchurikki seal.

Naruto hadn't reintergrated all his Shadow Clone forks yet, so as each one breaks they're all going through the same process of going insane and stuffing themselves inside the jinchurikki seal.

The kyuubi is trying to keep Naruto from going irreparably insane, but the Shadow Clones are making things harder because if one of them gets too upset then it spills over onto the others.

"Sanity is subjective." Which given the kyuubi's other comments about "perception" should indicate that she really doesn't know what she's doing here. RIP Naruto's brain.

Okay, that clarifies some things. The Absent Death is an immortal, not a deadly person who is absent. The door they're carving at is the door to the room is the seal. The papers thrown to the ground are AD's research notes trying to figure the seal out. They're crumpled and thrown to the floor because AD can't figure it out. AD is deciding to just start torturing Naruto physically and see if that does anything helpful.

If AD keeps torturing Naruto then Naruto will die and the kyuubi will go with him.

Absent death could fit any of the immortal guys I suppose. I still think it could be Itachi though, the name Itachi means weasel which is an omen of death. OTOH the papers make more sense for Sasori trying to figure out the Seal and failing, hence his frustration. But it could also be Itachi trying to discern the Seal from within and being unable to reach the 'den' Naruto sequestered his mind into. I don't think Earth Rendering is Kakuzu or Zetsu, Deidara molds earth (clay) in order to rend earth (explosions). It also fits his personality more to mock Sasori/Itachi

Absent Death is Sasori. Seal expertise + body of a puppet, aka empty casket. Everything uncapitalized is seal metaphor. Explaining why Naruto's brain pan sizzles.

Call Sasori Cenotaph when we see him.

I actually came up with something meaningful we could ask Oro for:

A jutsu that makes it so Hazou doesn't need to sleep, as a training/time management/shadow clone management (the latter of which we obviously don't mention to him) thing.

Likely to have severe adverse effect. Sleep is necessary for a whole bunch of processes, including long term memory formation.

Makes sense that kage bunshin costs 150 + (N * 25). Most of the work goes into making a copy of the brain and body and copy pasting the copy is cheaper. Suggests you could save the copy to summon a previous version later. Is that useful? Could save on the chakra cost less accessing the medium the copy is saved in. Maybe store copies of Jōnin before dangerous missions. No, keep daily versions of yourself without Consequences. Integrating a less similar, more dated copy would come with a higher Resolve check.

Do you really think someone like Orochimaru would abide wasting a third of his time without taking care of the drawbacks?

If basically every creatures on the planet sleep, it's going to be damn hard to remove sleep without side effect, because it is an evolutionary conserved feature.

Rather, it's better to ask Orochimaru for a jutsu that improves sleep, which either reduce the hours you need to sleep or make sleep particularly more effective.

As promised

[] Action Plan: The God Flaying Knife vs the Iron Wolf

  • Negotiations with Uncle Oro
    • With Oro showing that he is reasonable Hazou would be willing to sell some of priceless treasures he has obtained.
    • Of course the rental agreement will stay in place in regards to any of the items that Oro decides he is not interested in obtaining
      • The price he offered was more than fair for the rental
    • Some of the things Hazou would like to obtain
      • A jutsu of each element that a randomly selected jounin would find useful
      • Advice and possibly help setting up a 7th path chakra farm that Noburi can drain from safely
      • Being allowed to ask questions that do not infringe on any of Oro's direct plan.
      • Notes on how to seal the Bijou
      • Help on dealing with the great seal
      • chakra metal
      • location of chakra golems
      • help with the great seal
      • (Insert whatever people want to try to get from him)
    • Hazou is very happy that he and Oro can have a good working relationship for years to come.
  • Shikamaru
    • Prep: Ask Cannai, Kumokogo, Shima and Fukasaku about the Sage's band of five. (Names, abilities, stories, appearance/descriptions, symbols)
    • Recount Cannai's poem.
    • Tread CAREFULLY. Discover aspects with Empathy regarding our brother-in-law/friend for tags. Invoke aspects involving Uplift, Dragonslaying, and worldsaving for Rapport.
    • The Great Seal situation has Hazou concerned about more existential threats the Sage left behind, intentionally or by wards crumbling in his absence.
      • "Seven locks for seven rocks". There's supposedly 7 paths, the Great Seal is a lock. Are there six more Great Seals to deal with, somewhere?
        • Is there legend of something similar on our path?
        • 'Flow of fire' could be lava, 'mighty waves' are presumably the sea, etc. Could these verses correspond to real-world locations? Where could we learn more?
          • Why would Shade be dangerous? Do you know who is singing?
    • Does the band of five info line up with anything Shikamaru knows?
