[Dramatic Gasp]

Heresy!

I see the appeals of an Ami-Hazou relationship, tbh. My primary concern is simply that Ami keeps a romantic contextualization/framing on her dyamnic with Hazou because it's safer/more familiar to her than a platonic, emotionally intimidate friendship/familial dynamic.

That, rather than genuinely feeling romantic feelings for Hazou, Ami artificially (though, perhaps subconsciously) directs herself in that direction because, as an I&S jonin, romance is where she's more capable, more at ease, and more in control of the situation. Ami's flat-out admitted on-screen that she doesn't know what a genuine family feels like, after all. But romance? Ami knows romance.
So what do y'all think about this idea? I thought of it a week or two ago, and I haven't really had the chance to examine it in detail, but it seems like a reasonable idea to me.

I would argue true romance (at least as Hazou perceives it) requires an intimacy just as deep as a familial bond. That kind of vulnerability is still pretty unknown territory for Ami. She knows how to be flirtatious and mysterious and alluring but those aren't the same as connecting to someone. Being flirty is comfortable territory for her, yeah, that's why she's still there (even though she has occasionally descended into genuineness if only for moments). You can even look at her fling with Mari as the kind of thing I imagine she's comfortable with.

But c'mon, no way Hazou would settle for less than emotional intimacy and she can clearly tell that by now by observing his other relationships. She even claims those relationships are doomed to fail because she's intimidated by the fact that such a thing is possible for other people, and that it could be for her too.

No? What about anybody who is more of a dick?"
Orochimaru was too busy to bother.

Hazō pulled out some ominous object wrapped in spider web
I may have forgotten something.

Also i really want an Interlude that shows how Harumitsu is going to be affected by this, he is a good lad but if is reputation with his Clan before was just "unworthy of being a Hagomoro" (a compliment to anyone else) he is now a favored student of their worst political threat's (presumably in generations) brother.

Mari said Ami is not suited for seduction or something like that

It's interesting how the Hags have a legal right to declare heresy. Suggests ninja cared about religion when Leaf founded

Something feels suspicious about the Hags. I would not expect them to do that. For many reasons, one of which is he took time out of his day to do it. Matches suspiciously to stereotypical villain scripts. What if they actually were imposters?

Edit: also it breaks asuma command for Hags to play nice

Edit2: also did hag expect asuma to actually go along with declaring it heresy? And to not be annoyed with wasting his time?

PSA: Voting closes at 10am New York time on Sunday.

I'm having second Thanksgiving(1) tomorrow so won't be doing any writing. Therefore, have the rest of the day and we'll close it on Sunday.

(1) First Thanksgiving consisted of going out to a restaurant because my mother hates Thanksgiving so much that she was unmoved by "Don't worry, mom: I'll shop for it, cook it, and clean up after it so all you need to do is eat it." Fortunately, I have found family who don't mind having a second go.

I suspect adherence to the will of fire was a way to suck up to the first hokage (and his memory thereafter) and it became a matter of natural selection, if a ninja show the will of fire they are more likely to be trusted with power by the higher ups than not and from there it tricked down until everyone was genuinely believing in it.

[X] Continue Previous Plan
Hmm.
  • Chuunin: Kei, Hazou, Akane, Noburi, Shikamaru, Neji, Ino, Tenten, ???, ??? + Snowflake.
  • Effigy: Ami's effigy.
  • Special jounin: Kagome, Anko, ???.
  • Demigods: Naruto, Tsunade.
  • ???: Hanabi, Yuno.
So:
  • I'm missing at least one chuunin. (Rock Lee?)
  • Is Hanabi already a chuunin? Or am I missing two chuunin? Who? (Kei doesn't list "the head of the Akimichi clan", so it's not him.)
  • Is Yuno a spec-jounin after all? Or am I missing some other spec-jounin?
Well, this is quite awkward. I somehow managed to miss the entire second part of the chapter, which confirms Rock Lee and Shiori's presence. It's not clear whether Lee or Yuno is the spec-jounin, though. @Velorien, @eaglejarl, @OliWhail, is Yuno considered a special jounin?

So why did we just abandon trying to find out sage mode? There are still tons of opportunities to find out information and we've just stopped. We haven't even bothered to talk to Kagome about it. We should try to find out what Tsunade knows. Talk to Ma & Pa about our ideas for a chakra farm and see if that shakes anything loose. Try to play different bosses against each other to get more info

If Hazō asks Yuno, she will confirm that she is a jōnin.
We should start putting effort into getting Yuno SC. That way if decide want to have her start FOOMing can do so without committing treason. Plus a loyal jounin who can hit S-tank soon is a huge asset

Also we should have a conversation to find out all the hidden lore Yuno knows that doesn't revolve around the five. Like there are tons of interesting things we should be pursuing but instead we are having a talk with Lee. Which might be fun but it doesn't do anything. It doesn't advance any plots or give us actionable info on anything
