PSA: Numbers!

Hazō is currently at 80 CP. That means he can summon any of the following:

Cannon, excitable greyhound, 50 CP
Canoe, grownup greyhound, 60 CP
Cantelabra, Golden Retriever puppy, 10
A variety of as-yet-unnamed puppies, 5-15 CP.
From what I recall, Cannon was the dog that wanted the chakra metal teeth, weren't they? I remember proposing we forge them a new set of steel teeth or something, were they okay with that?

Canun was the one we did the Ebisu quest for and fulfilled to the letter, just wanted to make sure they weren't being conflated.

How is @faflec 's plan different from @Paperclipped 's?
faflec's plan in comparision to Paperclipped's:
  • Go to the main hall and find Kei.
    • On the move, dispel and re-summon Cannon if Hazou thinks he would help.
      • Find Kei and bring her back to Hazou.
    • If anyone asks, say that something urgent has transpired and she is needed immediately (technically true).
      • Subtly reinforce Mari's pretense of a summons from Asuma.
    • Grab someone else (Akane?) to carry Hazou to get him away faster.
    • If possible, leave a note for someone with Kei
  • Run away from the Clan Compound with her.
    • Avoid the side where Mari seemed to be leading Orochimaru to an outbuilding.
    • Explain the situation on the way: high level information first.
      • Orochumaru is interested in the Iron Nerve, and in Snowflake's cognitively independent nature.
        • Independent SCs have obvious utility to him.
        • Mari said the IN let Hazou memorize the ground around him: why would Orochumaru be interested in that? Or rather, why would that change him from disinterest to interest?
      • How to change the cost-benefit analysis for Orochumaru?
    • If needed, Skywalk away to leave no trail.
    • Kei to go ahead once briefed if Hazou is much slower.
  • Go directly to the Tower. Based on Keiko's determination, get help from Asuma, Tsunade, Naruto, and/or Shikamaru.
    • Explain the situation to Asuma. Get to them and explain the situation.
    • If caught along the way, or at the faintest hint of anything amiss, Reverse Summon to the Seventh Path.
    • Once immediate safety is secured, start reaching out to allies to brainstorm what to do next. Options: Shikamaru, Ami, Naruto, Tsunade
      • Potential lie: Snowflake is a long-term and secret experiment to induce directed personality drift, and Mari wasn't in the loop.
        • Once we have time, can fake Nara paperwork to support.
      • Option for Hazou: cooperation with Orochimaru to non-maimingly gather bloodline data, to prevent kidnapping + dissection?
As far as I can tell, at least. Main takeaway is that instead of focusing our 'get help' efforts on Asuma we seek out other people as well and confer with Kei about it.

Grab someone else (Akane?) to carry Hazou to get him away faster.

Riding on the back of one of our summons might be faster overall since we would not have to waste time shuffling around looking for someone to carry Hazou.

Can we instead just say "Oro was probing for information involving clan secrets and I couldn't say no because S-rank shenanigans"?

I'd rather not have Hazou talking about the specifics of clan secrets out in the open where there is no way to maintain proper OPSEC.

As an alternative to running/limping and if our summoning clan mini UN is still in effect, could we not have Hazou reverse-summoned and then have him tell the Toad and Pangolin ambassadors to call upon Kei and Noburi? We could inform both of them of the situation with Oro and then have Kei stay with us as Noburi goes back to tell Asuma about what transpired.

@Velorien @eaglejarl is there a Monkey representative with all of the other clan ambassadors? If not, could we spend a Fate point so there always was one there? (If the ambassadors have already disbanded could we spend another Fate point to have them conveniently reconvene?)

It would be much simpler if we could reverse summon, find the Monkey, and then tell said Monkey we need to speak with his summoner regarding urgent interclan business.

We're all summoners.

We might as well take advantage of that fact.

Unless Asuma is currently on 7Path, the Monkey we talk to would have no way of passing this information to Asuma until he chooses to summon them. It's probably faster to just walk.

Dogs have no representatives in the United Clans, moreover, the reps have no way to contact their Summoners before they themselves are summoned. So it wouldn't be quick way of contacting Kei and Noburi. We'd need to wait until they decided to summon the reps on their own.

[X] Action Plan: Sufficiently Straightforward Steps Supply Secrecy
[X] Action Plan: "Get Help"

Do we know which of the Dogs are currently on the Human Path?

Yes, that was her. It was back in chapter 374.

Erm...I'm pretty sure she was and that you had put the call out for chakra metal and gotten the Inuzuka to measure her teeth but I'm not sure. @faflec ?

None of the dogs you are currently able to summon are large enough to ride on.

I was under the impression that the clans have to have some way to contact their summoners so that the summoners can fulfill their obligations on the 7th path. If there was a Monkey representative I would assume that summon would be able to call upon Asuma so that Asuma would reverse summon to the Monkey's location.

Ah yes, I forgot about the Belize-Boston problem. Thanks for pointing that out.

Man, why did the Sage (or whoever, or whatever) set it up so inconveniently? The inability of summons to reverse-summon you even with your consent, or in any way communicate with you in the Human Realm, creates so many logistical hurdles.

I guess it's a point in favour of the Seventh Path being some sort of prison/exclusion zone.

Unfortunately no, the best solution anyone has to this sort of problem is just checking in regularly, like once or twice a day, and hope that anything they need help with isn't that urgent.

"Yeah, I thought it was pretty crazy. Anyway, she was offended at first but then Cannai pointed out that her great-grandfather's teethcaps wouldn't have fit her anyway and would only be good as a sentimental thing. She was intrigued by the notion of having a set of her own. She didn't actually commit to becoming my summon if I can get them made but I'm going to get them made regardless. Cannai noted that they would have to be made from chakra metal because reasons." He waved a hand in vague incomprehension. "I don't know if that was simply a demand of quality or if there's a real reason but he was insistent. Anyway, I talked to one of the Inuzuka smiths and he thought the idea was fascinating. He had no idea how to do it, but he's got imprints of Cannon's teeth and is going to try to figure something out. We'll need to source the chakra metal somehow."
Basically this, yes. Originally we were supposed to find Cannon's great-grandfather's teeth which were lost, but we compromised to this. Apparently.

Still think finding the original teeth would have been easier. Chakra metal is rare.

Yeah if we actually somehow do get our hands on chakra metal I'd be a strong proponent of 'just make it into a powerful weapon or something' instead of giving it to Cannon. Asuma's daggers, the Seven Swordsmen of Mist, this stuff is something Elite Jounin would salivate over and considerably rarer than Dogs with quests.

Gotcha. Is this within the realm of a Declare?
I would say not. I can't think of any plausible reason why Hazō would be carrying skywalker seals at a gaming night in his own home. A gaming night attended by a significant fraction of Leaf's firepower, at that.

Were either of these dogs at game night, or would they have a reasonable shot at recognizing Kei? Specifically Cannon, the Scout with whom we have a legitimate contract, rather than Canoe who I believe is just contracted for Reverse Summoning.
Do we know which of the Dogs are currently on the Human Path?
Canaut and Cantelabra (the St Bernard and Golden Retriever puppy from the diplomatic mission to the Arachnids), and Canaria, the bard. She is on a one-time contract, only here because she's interested in learning more about the Human Path.

I doubt it or the Wakahisa would rule the world
I mean... Mist does have the 7 Swordsmen. It might be that chakra metal can be made, it's just that the process is more complicated than we think at first glance. Or maybe it's more dangerous? Chakra golems could form while creating artificial chakra metal... in which case, we need to wait to rez Jiraiya before starting the project.

Hazou's to do list just got another item: finding a way to let summons contact their summoners while the summoners are on the human path. Once we solve that problem we have to make sure it only goes to summons we trust to be sufficiently mature about how to use it.

As adorable as it would be at first getting puppy prank called would get old fast:

Canfucius: ((Summoner I am so sorry.))
Hazou: ((Why? This new technique works great!))
Canfucius: ((Yes, it's very simple and easy to learn... so incredibly simple...))
Hazou: ((It's by design so that anyone and everyone can talk to me even if I'm asleep. No one gets left out!))
Canfucius: ((As a teacher, that warms my heart. As a father... do you have any children of your own?))
Hazou: ((No, why?))
Canfucius: ((Well, consider this a lesson and a taste of fatherhood.))
Hazou: ((What do you mea-))
Puppy 1: ((HELLO SUMMONER! I JUST LEARNED THE BESTEST NEW TECHNIQUE AND ALSO I LOVE YOU!))
Puppy 2: ((I AM AWAKE THEREFORE I AM EXCITED!))
Puppy 3: ((I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS! HAVE YOU EVER MANAGED TO CATCH YOUR OWN TAIL??? I HAVE!))
VIHH: "It's getting a bit crowded in here, but in a strangely adorable way."

We don't currently have a CP cost for Canaut on Hazou's sheet, do we have enough chakra to resummon him at 80 cp? I assume not per EJ's post.

@Paperclipped @faflec I think it would be more efficient to resummon Cantelabra, ask him where Keiko is, and immediately go there. Rather than using a Cannon to scout. She might not have met Keiko and she might not know the layout of the Goketsu estate. Whereas Cantelabra almost certainly was introduced to Keiko at games night, and probably knows where she is.

Oh true, a golem forming every time you try making your own metal is a plausible reason people don't try it even when they feasibly could

Yeah my guess is that it's 'top level Wakahisa clan secret, only the best of the best of us can pull this off, and even then it's risky/not a sure thing/expensive' but still doable.

Actually maybe not as impossible as it might first sound, tbh. We've got unique insights into Ways and Wayshredding and are hoping to spec into dimensionalism, so maybe by the time we're an S-Rank sealmaster a seal that sends a message across Paths won't be unthinkable.

Hot take, I think Hazou shouldn't run off with Kei. Hazou also leaving would be much more suspicious, Oro will definitely figure it out and likely be annoyed. We're less interesting than Kei right now. More to the point, either we get heavy hitter intervention, which Kei is going to ask for anyway, or running won't make a difference. We'd just slow her down anyway. And if we're in a room with multiple other Jonin, which constitutes a double digit percentage of Leaf's firepower, then Oro should have a hard time. Abducting us in front of Hyugas because he wants to dissect us for our bloodline limit would weirdly make us allies. I sadly don't have the spoons to make and update this plan though. Someone please adopt it, and I'll pre-commit 2 votes for the future (not counting this one).

This assumes Cantelabra was one of the Summoned Dogs.
