To have thousands of tons of rocks we need tens of thousands of storage seals since we need 10 seals per ton. Not workable IMO, we'd be better off dropping explosives.

EDIT: Also we'd need to dig through that rock after the attack, sounds like a pain

I was thinking we'd make this trio high-altitude spotters/bombers, they don't really need to be in combat to be useful on this mission. We'd have a sky team and a ground team, sky team bombs, ground team mops up.

Depending on what deniable assets we can get... my advice is scrap the mission. Either tell Asuma to give the scroll to some other clan and have them infiltrate the facility, and we'll try to work with a different sealmaster and risk the multiverse ending because they weren't as good as Kagome or we didn't work as well with them, or else just go after a less geopolitically-problematic scroll.

I don't disagree, but we're going to want some serious intelligence on the facility before attempting the mission. So I'd suggest asking Asuma to gather intelligence deniably until Hazou is better or the Isan team is back and making our move then.

This is something we should discuss more soundly yeah. I personally kinda just want Keiko to murk the high priest. If we can convince the rest of the clans to butt out her tessera can ?probably? take him, the issue is going to be convincing the Azai and Inoue to stand by while she does this. Also, setting up the narrative that this was Ui's will so people don't riot afterwards or whatever. Takahashi can take control and we have an alliance.

So since the Hornets have been absorbed by the Arachnids, I assume Suwabazu is dead, right?
Also, I didn't know that the Leopards were separate from all other Cats. Was it ever mentioned why?

Point of order: The Hagoromo had not yet been our rivals back during Rock's attack. In fact we gave them a lot of money to get them out from under Hyūga's thumb.

Atomu's missing fingers mean he couldn't try to learn MEW. He's wondering if, as Jiraiya's heir and a clan head with resources he can't imagine, you can find a way around that. (You can't.)

Reo: 36
Reo has outlived most of his relatives and doesn't talk about them much. You get the impression they died in the line of duty. He has a younger sister who was born without chakra reserves, the shame of the family until it made her the only family he had left.
No current romantic relationship; raising the subject seems to make him uncomfortable.
The estate genin respect Reo as a veteran, sometimes gruff and unapproachable, but reliable and a good source of advice.

Reo gives you a weird look when you ask if he goes on missions, as if unsure whether you're young and naïve, suffering from clan privilege, or both. He takes guard duty and extermination missions; occasionally, he joins his old comrades for a well-paying combat mission, as they know how to work around his limitations, but not too often because fighting with him is still a risk to their survival.
Mari finds Reo to be a private person who's difficult to read. She's prepared to take a more aggressive approach to learning his mindset, but advises against it as it could cause a lasting rift if he decided you were setting a social spec on him.

Mai: Declines to answer (Mari figures late twenties-early thirties)
Mai has civilian parents, she eventually admits (first-generation clanless are considered the bottom of the barrel), but they live independently and rarely interact.
No current romantic relationship; she gives you a bitter look when you ask, as if to say, "Who do you think would want a burn victim?"
Mai gets some respect from the estate genin as a chūnin who's still fighting despite what's happened to her, but she doesn't have Atomu's charisma or Reo's force of personality to offset the stigma of being a cripple made hideous by her injuries.
Nothing to add about the other chūnin that she doesn't think you know already.
Mai acts hostile when asked whether she goes on missions, as if by asking you're questioning whether she's capable, but then apologises when she realises you mean no offence. She was and is a combat specialist, and prefers offensive missions where she doesn't have to worry about protecting soft targets (though her poor mobility means she has to stick to team missions for safety).
Mai is a ranged weapons specialist now, preferring kunai to shuriken. She's not keen to learn new ninjutsu, but you think the right approach could persuade her. On the other hand, she finds the mental violation involved in genjutsu to be profoundly disturbing.

None of the three have new ideas to offer right now, whether due to general lack of creativity or because they're still getting used to the fact that they're clan and their opinions matter.

Can't Asuma check the validity of Hazō's claims by having a Monkey delegation travel to Arachnid territory and then reverse summoning him?

Sorry, but that's not how it works. He did murder a single civilian. Multiple times in fact. Or are you telling me that all his murders were double murders or more?

Hornets are allies, the Hornet Boss sent them b/c they want the Dragon threat contained.
 
@Velorien Does Sand have any Summoners. Or, for that matter, are the current relations between Leaf and Mist officially warm enough to get their Summoners involved in some way as well? I mean, having a permanent ninja ambassador isn't quite usual among belligerent nations in this world. And the Arachnids were already talking to the Sharks after all.

Oh, I thought that the Hornet Clan got mostly eaten, thereby increasing the Dragon's flight capabilities.

I didn't realize the weight limit per seal was that low. We could still spend a good while producing the necessary storage seals, but it does make explosives more attractive. I'm mostly concerned that explosives alone won't pentrate underground well enough.

Digging through rock is preferable to risking that people buried deep underground survived imo.

Actually, yes. In the case of the Cold Stone Killers incident, all the civilians got killed by the same ninjutsu. In the case of the Sunset Racer, the entire ship got scuttled at once.

10000 storage seals take about 5-6 months of full time labor to scribe. So I'd say we should either start immediately or not at all. I agree about the underground, but I'm concerned that the rocks won't penetrate enough either, it's really hard to bust bunkers. We should mock up a few bunkers on the Goketsu estate and run some tests before the assault.

EDIT: perhaps a kinetic penetrator with an explosive seal set on a timer?

The disabled ninja can and do take missions. However, they are poorly optimised for hunting, since two of three have mobility issues.

Saving throw #2: how do you know any of them were single? It's well-established that bad boys get all the girls. Look at how Hazō's love life has taken off since he started committing treason.

Lee is a Taijutsu spec, and probably has decent mobility as a result... Do you think that he'd be willing to do a joint-mission? I think Lee and Atomu would get along famously.

They are, yes. They split off years ago for reasons that I'm sure @faflec can source faster than I can given that my brain is cheese and his is connected to a host of pantemporal self-instances.
