I think the training plan was from the last voting cycle?

We generally tally from the last update IIRC. This has small annoyances but I think its slightly beneficial overall.

Spreading LOVE and buying pokerface:

Of the four stunts made available to us by our extradimensional trauma, three of them are inextricable from Sealing as a skill, and thus useless for anyone who is not both a Kurosawa and a Sealmaster. Hazou happens to be both of those, so there's no problem with any of the stunts for us, but some other Kurosawa like Shin would find Summoning Scroll Acolyte, Insight From Beyond, and Prophet of the Out worthless to him.

But there is a fourth: Lens of Violence, and the only thing that's tied to is TYS points and CQC combat stats. And we all know how much the Kurosawa love their punching. It seems to me like we could strike a bargain with Ren: we make Kurosawa punch better and she gives us permission to learn Iron Nerve Socials.

The prerequisites for this plan are as such:
  • We must have already taken Lens of Violence to as to know of the potential for this offer IC, as well as to demonstrate it.
  • We must have a secure line of contact with Ren, either direct or indirect.
To fully execute the plan, the following gates must be cleared:
  • We must propose the idea of the exchange to Ren.
  • We must prove the value of LOVE to Ren.
  • We must be willing and able to provide the means to teach the Kurosawa LOVE.
I would particularly suggest seeking Hana as our intermediary. Not only is she almost inherently aligned with Hazou, but she has a personal connection to Ren and, being a Jounin, can stand respectably before her. Further, should demonstration be needed Hana can serve as the second example of the power of LOVE (free sample!) to further validate the value of the exchange.

The final complication in this scheme is providing the means for Kurosawa to learn LOVE, i.e. getting a Summoning Scroll and a Kurosawa in the same room together for a few minutes. While it's possible that they could find another scroll in Mist, it would be unbecoming to not provide our own, which brings in other people and possible security concerns.

With Summoning Scroll Acolyte getting Hazou some levels in MedKnw/Medjutsu is a lot cheaper than getting Noburi high in all of them.

We really need to talk to Kabuto after getting that crazy stunt.

Do you think that Biosealing is just one of the stats? I kind of doubt it, but that's why I said we should talk to Kabuto.
Sorry, I am clearly too uncaffeinated. I misunderstood what you were saying entirely.

Yeah, I think BioSealing is just MedKnow + Sealing in combination, functionally speaking. It would be weird if it was its own separate thing and was still Sealing.

It should be noted that while it has been stated that accessing Leaf's knowledge about biosealing requires the hokage's permission due to it being highly classified, developing the discipline anew yourself does not require accessing classified information.

And I'm not sure the MedKnow even has to be Hazou's. It's quite possible that Hazou and Noburi could team up with Noubri telling Hazou all the medical nuances the seal has to attend to while Hazou scribes a seal that does that.

And I'm not sure the MedKnow even has to be Hazou's.
That's a good point. I think having a decent amount of working knowledge might be good for understanding though? You have to explain to the Eldritch Programmer what the Eldritch Script needs to do so that he can cook it up, sorta thing.

Probably depends on what you want to do.

Examples:

Seal that makes you a cannibal: high sealing > high med

Octocat: high med stuff > sealing

Suicide head bomb: med > sealing

I mean explosive seals are really simple, just make them go boom when your chakra runs dry.

It's why I would hope ESP seals would be:

Sealing > Medknow

EJ that isn't how you tag people you should know this by now :p
@Odgorian

The Yakuza aren't a secret organization, we can just talk to them as long as we are disguised or not obviously Leaf ninja and nobody will care. Figure out what well paying jobs they have, what they need, etc.

I know that those are just options and suggestions for the Team, but I am not sure if Akane/Kagome/Naruto would shoot down a hardball strategy, even if it's a dangerous idea. Unless Naruto or Kagome have some information on how to talk to or contact them, I would prefer us just to make some small contact, tell Mari what we found out and move from there. She actually knows how interact with the Yakuza. The rest of the strategies are needlessly antagonistic.

Also maybe clarify only robbing the Iron Yakuza? Really don't want to suggest to rob the Fire group.

I don't like the "Exam strategy" because we used Keiko as the pangolin summoner as "backup", mentioning Naruto is a no-go and with him disguised it takes away from our ability to threaten them somewhat, sure we can say we have an S-rank ninja, but thats still kind of OPSEC sensitive. We really shouldn't risk that they figure out that he is there and wants to work with the Yakuza until we are sure that it's safe, any kind of leak just asks for someone to start to keep an eye on the place (Iron and the Yakuza in general, not just Yuni).

And I don't see how robbing the Iron Yakuza is going to proof to them that working with us is in their interest. In that Interlude Sakura suggested a more nuanced approach and it worked, but we go in guns blazing? We can hopefully show competence to them in better ways.

Pissing off a group off people who's capabilities we don't know is a bad idea, the Iron Yakuza have a some ninja of their own (including access to seals that Jiraiya forbid us to sell to non-Leaf people) and while they might not be able to kill us they can possible do other damage to us indirectly if they figure out who we are.

Remember the whole: "Don't fuck with the Yakuza" thing.

I think that we have fundamentally different opinions on our capabilities and goals in dealing with the Iron Yakuza. Our current force projection is an S-ranker, 2 seal masters and a almost joinin. This is more firepower than anyone will have. Also Hazō Akane and Kagome are all now much more capable than Minami, Noburi, and Hazō where when we fought the Yakuza. At the same time Iron is one of the poorest countries. The Yakuza here have no ninjas to support them and limited funds to recruit missing nin. The balance of power is firmly in our corner by a large amount

on top of that we do not have time to slow play the Iron Yakuza. We will be in the country for days at most. Also as village nin we can't really afford to do work for them. Since we can not develop a relationship over time with them our only option if we want something out of them is an explosive and dramatic move. Think of it as the same strategy Jiariya did when he recruited us. Show them that you can crush them but have no desire actually to. Once that is established we are in a strong enough negotiating position to force them to our will

honestly if we aren't willing to flex super hard on the IronYakuza we probably shouldn't bother with them

Thank you, @eaglejarl ! I appreciate your post.
I don't think I'll be an active participant, but will try to read plans and vote for them.
I really enjoy this quest (sure you got it already), except the wedding scene (its alienness caused chill down my spine (as, most likely, it was intended)).
By the way, I've got some questions:
  • Is there any compilation of players known information about grue? Search in thread gave me ~450 posts.
    • If there is no such compilation, do players know why henge disappeared? Did players find a terrible way to abuse it, which could only be removed together with the ability itself, or what happened was not caused by players at all? If second variant is true, then chance that one day Hazo wakes up without Sealing (just like gliders) is disturbing.
  • Do I understand correctly that ability disappeared with all XP spent on it?
  • Was it explained anywhere, why and wherefrom Kagome had such excellent skill with henge? That skill wasn't in his area of expertise. Hazo, after all, lost his ability to ask about that irrevocably (or did he?).

The QMs found it perpetually frustrating and tough to work with and wished they had never included it in the setting, so we voted to let the QMs feed Henge to a grue. When we break something, generally the QMs either change the way it works if the world doesn't make sense with that exploit (like what happened with substitution nukes) or let us have it (like with skywalkers and SINs), so don't worry that the QMs will slap us down if we start figuring out OP things.

XP was refunded; removing the skill simply returned it all in the google doc. That was ages ago, though, so that xp is long spent. There was greater chaos when we switched to the Fate system.

No. Presumably it was a side effect of his personality - not much better ways to hide and get out of danger than henge.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail How much time does Hazou think actually finishing the mission will take?
@OliWhail did some calculations on this that I agreed with, except that I think visibility radius should be 10m instead of 30m given the density of the forests. That's still under discussion, though. If you run those calculations again with 10m visibility then the actual final answer will probably lie somewhere between that answer and Oli's answer, inclusive. Note that I say probably, because we reserve the right to change things if we realize we missed a factor.

It's the fundamental difference between wanting new concrete recipe and building bigger bombs.
Out of curiosity, do you literally want to have concrete recipes showing up onscreen, or is that a metaphor for wanting to see more civil engineering?

(Seriously though, I think of 'how we'd go about recruiting contacts' and at the object-level I just draw a blank, and it doesn't feel like the kind the QMs would be happy to let us fill. I feel like the biggest hurdle to getting us recruiting contacts is an effortpost on recruitment SOP that we can agree on and then summarize in our plans)
+1

I really don't want to have to figure out how to make that happen. Please give some direction.

I thought we already bought the land. Whatever. Cross that off our list when convenient if it hasn't been done.
You did.

Its ( -1/12)/10 personally.
  • (Fuck I hate that video.)
Here's a refutation of it.

I'm assuming ninja can run about 150 miles (give or take 20ish) per days travel. I think its closer to 200-300 depending on how much ass needs hauling, but YMMV.
Ninja can run 20mph for long distances so that they can indeed run 100-150 miles per day, but not for more than a day or three in a row. Team Uplift are an exception because Noburi's ability to refresh them chakra allows them to extend their endurance. Jiraiya and some other very high-powered ninja were/are also exceptions because they're just that badass.

@eaglejarl, @Velorien, @OliWhail, what does Hazou think would happen if we got caught by Leaf-nin patrols crossing in or out of Iron without permission?
It would depend on who caught you. In Hazō's opinion, an ISC group probably would be surprised but not care or tell anyone outside of ISC. Someone else would probably pass word to Hiashi which could cause you issues.

Thank you, @eaglejarl ! I appreciate your post.

Sounds like being active to me. :>

By the way, I've got some questions:
  • Is there any compilation of players known information about grue? Search in thread gave me ~450 posts.
Not that I'm aware of. The answers, however, are:

Doylist: As @Inferno_Vulpix said, henge was a PITA for the QMs and we found ourselves wishing that we'd never allowed it in the game. The players said "go ahead and delete it" so we did.

Watsonian: So far as has been shown onscreen, Kagome is the only person in the entire world who remembers that henge ever existed. OOC I will add that written records have either vanished or been redacted such that there's no way to learn of its existence from writings.

More OOC knowledge, although it's been shown onscreen: There is some force / entity / something ("the grue") that actively prevents people from rediscovering henge. When Hazō was thinking along lines that would have brought him to remember henge, he became distracted. When he kept trying he ended up suffering a minor mishap (hot tea spilled on his hand and mildly burned him). Kagome made clear that these issues will escalate if people keep trying to push through them.

The original idea was that the grue would be an actual discoverable part of the universe and a plot driver going forward. @Velorien decided he did not like that idea, so the grue has been determined to be undiscoverable. No matter what anyone tries, the grue can escalate far enough to defeat their efforts and prevent them from remembering / rediscovering henge. There is therefore no point in pursuing the issue.

  • Was it explained anywhere, why and wherefrom Kagome had such excellent skill with henge? That skill wasn't in his area of expertise. Hazo, after all, lost his ability to ask about that irrevocably (or did he?).
Respectively: No, true, he did.

What? But before the most recent interlude didn't eaglejarl say something about counting votes from the non-interlude update?
For that specific update, yes. The default is that we count from the latest threadmark. In part this is so that there's a consistent rule and in part it's so that the QMs don't have to remember to check whether the previous update was an interlude or not.

@Velorien has once again been despooned, so I'm handling tomorrow. Might be the chapter, might be another interlude. As a result, I'm looking at the plan for the first time.

@faflec or anyone, I am confused about this part:

Revisit the Rift:
  • Make preparations just in case (explosives, Shadow Clones with Earth Domes, Substitution clones...).
  • (-1FP) Invoke "The Thinness of Reality". Glean and record any eldritch-dimensional-ish information about the site.
The rift was sealed up inside a bunch of MEW. Are you suggesting that you want to crack the walls and see what's inside?

EDIT: After looking over the code that @OliWhail posted and running it again with a 10m visibility radius, I get 60 hours of running. It's winter (short days) and cold so I'm going to say that between fighting, eating, and pitching/breaking camp you can get about 5 hours of traveling in per day. That's 12 days to do the entire circuit. This is my tentative ruling unless Oli or someone else wants to debate it.
