The idea is we use the 7th path as a trade hub.

Summoners take tons of goods from the human path in storage seals and go to the seventh path to exchange them there.

Other summoner trades for them with money or other goods or whatever, takes them back.

This breaks trade and logistics over our knee, and if its Pax Pangolin enabling this, we have the ability to enforce taxes, tariffs and regulations on this by proxy to a certain extent.

Like, you don't just need to sign the scroll to be accepted as the summoner, you need the clan to accept you. If the Snakes are swayed by Pangolin pressure into accepting the proposed deal, the scroll becomes functionally worthless to anyone in Leaf that isn't us. Erego, the most beneficial thing for Leaf to do is to give us the scroll.

We grease the wheels (as we will be doing anyway for the Hokage vote) with extra grease, and we should be in a pretty good position to take it. If anyone gets salty at us, we can just shrug and say "7th Path politics man hahaha gee willickers" and dodge it.

I wasn't saying that we can't get the scroll, but you make this sound easy, as if Hiashi/Hyuuga/other people aren't trying to get it. Hiashi isn't an idiot, he did get the Minami on his side after all. If he promises the scroll to one Clan and debt relief to some others, he might get all the support he needs. Also I am not seeing how we are in a good position to get the scroll even if we get a Pro-Goketsu Hokage anyway? Maybe Asuma want's to give it to [Insert Clan] for support?

We are going to send them a message anyway, so we will see in a few Updates (maybe), but I think we need to play more politics here and not rely only on Pangolin/Toad influence. Currently we are assuming that the Snake Clan cares about the Pangolin Empire and are interested in anything about them. We don't really know how far away they are, how strong they are (Orochimaru had some powerful stuff, maybe he shared a lot with them and empowered them?) or what their interests are.

Just really too many unknown parts, I mean, why didn't Orochimaru send his message via the Snakes to Jiraiya? If were lucky Oro was on bad terms with the Snakes and they want us immediately or there was some other reason (maybe he didn't want to be found by Akatsuki?).

On the other hand, promising someone a Summoning Scroll and getting it for them might be a way we could get want we want.

Example:
Give Clan X (Maybe we can get the whole Motoyoshi-Kurusu-Amori Block that way?) Snake scroll for support on Hokage vote, find Capybara, exchange.

Yes, I have said this will take politicking on our part.

Its straightforward. The top down details are more or less as stated. That doesn't mean its easy.

The fact of the matter is is that it is far easier and less reprehensible than finding any other currently available scroll or tracking down another summoner to kill them and take theirs.

So, if we want another summoning scroll and the opportunity to create the 7th Path Grand Alliance (without working through any tedious middleman bullshit) without performing some sort of herculean operation , the time is now.

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm assuming @faflec 's plan wins.

I am not talking about the current voting period, I am talking about the next N voting periods over the course of which we will have to do all the annoying work to nab the Snek Scroll.

This is going to be a mid term plot. It will take multiple plans, and we will have to slowly make progress on it while mostly focusing on the Hokage stuff.

  • Pleasantly surprise Keiko and make her owe us;
  • Get another favour out of Ami and make her happy;
  • Get twelve hours out of Shikamaru and save him from future Ami-inflicted suffering;
  • Cause political chaos in Leaf that will be "interpreted in our favour";
  • Earn "some XP";
  • Make Velorien happy;
  • Get Hazou bragging rights for repeating Ami's bullshit three-favours ploy mere weeks after learning of the existence of favour networks?
If yes, copy the following into your plan under "Family Matters":
  • Ensure that Ami can attend Keiko's wedding:
    • Meet with Shikamaru (urgent).
      • Be sympathetic, but skip condolences.
      • Concern: Did he inform Ami about Keiko's wedding? If not, she'll be... displeased.
      • Suggest finalizing the marriage on paper, but postponing the ceremony for a few days.
      • We'll take care of making sure she can attend... in exchange for twelve hours.
    • Send Ami an encrypted message:
      • Inform about the wedding's date and your actions.
      • We'll assist her in getting into Leaf in any way she wants, as long as it wouldn't reflect poorly on us.
      • She totally owes us another favour.

Uh...technically this is a retroactive plan so we don't even know the wedding's happening yet.
 
@faflec , We should collect information on the Clan's though. Before Naruto we can at least get general information, like who are they exactly? (Bloodlines, speciality, general importance, etc)

First and foremost, this would make @Velorien happy in a way that won't murderously torture Hazou (beyond what I would enjoy from a comic relief perspective anyway) and the playerbase. I think we can all agree that a happy Velorien is something to strive for.

Perhaps I am being overly presumptious, but given that "Retroactively do some things assuming that Keiko told us about the wedding after she got back and maybe get Ami to the wedding" doesn't really fuck around with @eaglejarl 's chapter at all from a time perspective, I think this would be viewed quite charitably.

Why the hell not, right?
 
@faflec I'm sorry to bring this up again, but are you intending on adding a line to sanity-check an attempted acquisition of the Snake scroll?
Just something like "Ask Naruto about the viability of getting the Snake scroll".

People do not just screw you over for no reason if they have at least a mildly vested interest in your wellbeing! Kabuto and Ami aren't just going to turn around and sell us out for (INSERT UNKNOWN NEFARIOUS REASONS). Can we stop jumping at shadows and seriously examine what people have to lose and gain from doing things before deciding that ???? from the Mysterious Black Swan Unknown-Unknown Box is going to outweigh all other possible considerations? It would be one thing if it was like, Neji or Hinata who have vested interests in assuring we fail. It would be another if it was Hana, who we have no reason to believe would deal in (what we consider to be) good faith when we ask her to fix things. Ami has shown neither inclination nor motive to fuck us over. At worst, we should go forward with the caveat that she MUST NOT act combatively with Mari, and ORDER Mari to not engage with Ami in any way.

Like, seriously guys. The paranoia is ridiculous here!

She'd definitely toy with us some more, though. Even though she won't sabotage any of our stuff she'll have a jolly old time making Hazou feel uncomfortable.

Which, tbh, I don't mind. Ami scenes are very interesting, after all.
