Ah, but once Naruto (or someone aligned with us) is Hokage, we can try to make the precedent be that you don't lose the council seat. Hiashi's arguments become much less potent when someone else is in charge.

Added lines asking Naruto to stay an Uzumaki until the Hokage vote.
We can be clan in all but name. Have treaties between the Uzumaki and Gouketsu to share all resources etc. But keep the surnames and therefore the seats seperate. This doubles the political power of our family.

It would definitely be in his interest though. IIRC, the Wakahiza are born with a naturally screwed up chakra system that actually has to be surgically adapted to be able to store chakra in water. If Noburi wants functional offspring he'll have to find out how that's done eventually.
That said, I am wary of adopting such an ambitious and competent ninja into our clan before we are on even footing. How are we supposed to have actual authority over him?

Anyone remember anything about these four? Be it MfD or canon.
What determines that? Would there be precedent to kick us out as an as of now minor and unimportant clan? What about the Uchiha, who currently have a civilian regent representative in the council? What keeps them relevant other than history and a strong bloodline ability that currently doesn't matter?

Round up some votes from the minor clans. Add Tsunade's vote in. Play ball with Sarutobi + ISC.
Have Naruto stay an Uzumaki.
Make our clans Functionally the Same, so that we are only separate in all but name.
Utilize all of our votes to advance our Hokage candidate (Chouza,Asuma, Naruto, whoever).
We get two clans, two clanheads, the Hokage seat.
One family.

Edit: If Naruto is fully on board wit all of this, then we should propose to spread our adoption spree out over both clans. Maybe create a bit of nominal balance. Also, some Leaf nin might prefer the idea of being adopted by Naruto. Not to mention that a balance now may be healthier for our descendants three generations from now, in the case we neither go extinct nor completely overturn the clan system.

Honestly, it might be a good idea to dig for inroads with the Aburame, or try making amends with the Minami. That, or investigating the previously-unknown clans (or breaking up the Kurusu-Kyosho-Motoysho block, which...ugh).

Yeah, basically this.
Note that we need Noburi to sign the Summoning Scroll, which will be an issue due to lack of XP for the necessary Stunt. My thoughts involve having Keiko turn in her Skytowers early (plus making some fast short-term deals with the Pangolins) so we increase the amount of time we have for Noburi to get enough XP.
As a last resort, we could ask Mari to sign the scroll.

This is absolutely positively a scenario where Mad-Eye Moody tier paranoia is required. We need to stack the deck as much as possible so that this cannot be reasonably considered contentious.
If we win by one vote (i.e. the Gouketsu vote at the end of the day) for example, Hiashi is going to call major bullshit, and he'd have a lot of people behind him. If we win by a handful, he can't do shit.

Also, my fault. I mistook Kyosho for Amori since the former was in that one Hiashi interlude. My mistake.
The argument was that since Keiko did the whole deal it'd be considered hers. The counterargument would be to make the deal between the Toad Clan Summoner and the Pangolins. Since Noburi would be the Toad Summoner, he'd be the dealmaker so we still get the money.

Personally I have no idea what she was on about here. I don't really understand what the issue is in the first place. She's paying Clan Gouketsu for seals, and she's doing it with Pangolin money. Does this change somehow if she moves to a new clan? FMPOV she's just the intermediary here.

I'm not sure the Pangolins would be happy to have to depend on another summon clan for that, even if it's their allies. I didn't get the feeling that alliance was of the eternal blood brothers type.
Well, the Nara might propose to simply supply the seals themselves. What is Keiko to say at that?
And in doing so, what was Jiraiya's intent? Up till now I thought it was about granting clan status to Naruto and his future wife and offspring. Turns out he already had that. So the only other things could be to provide him with a family and access to Jiraiya's legacy clan's full resources. We can do that without erasing the Uzumaki name. Just make an ironclad inter-clan treaty of eternal and complete alliance and resource sharing.
