I don't like that phrasing. Normally I wouldn't nit-pick something that small, but it implies that we have a choice, and it's important to remember that we are under Jiraya's chain of command. I'd say we're "ready to scribe any seals [...]" instead. Phrasing like that has caused issues in the past.

Sure. Edited it in

Locate Ikeda and let her know we look forward to working together
Not entirely sure what is meant by working together, Hazou hasn't said anything on them working together at all up to this point.
Don't get in the S-rankers' and Jounins' way
  • Let Ami know that we see what she did
    • And trying that big of a stunt will cost her a lot more than just on favor
    • Walk off before she has a chance to respond
  • Tell Jiraiya we had an idea that might be helpful.
So these two quotes seem contradictory FMPOV: we can't talk to Ami or Jiraiya here without getting in the way of whatever they are doing; we'd have to wait for possibly an extended period of time to talk to them.
If this is true it if you could force the crows to reverse summon Itachi
Do you mean to say: If this is true could we force the crows to reverse summon Itachi?
  • We can already guess that you're in touch with him, after that board game he sent.
  • But if you're not we could send a message through the pangolins
I feel that we should be a bit more gentle when breaking the idea to Jiraiya to invite Orochumaru. Ex-teammate or not, he still went missing.

Also, why go through the Pangolins and not the Toads/Slugs?
Keiko might be able to help if Jiraiya thinks it a good idea
Trying to figure out how Keiko could help, what is the idea for her to contribute, here?

Edited the Ami section to make it less confrontational
Is the thing with Yuki unappreciated? I don't actually care.
Yeah, I'd much rather just ask her if she intended this consequence. We don't need to be angry at her unless she intentionally jeopardized the Leaf-Mist alliance, and if it wasn't intentional then we don't need to sour relations with her for no reason. She's hopefully going to be a strong ally in the future, and I personally would be sad if Hazou formed a grudge against her if we can avoid it.

(For similar reasons I think the mic drop isn't a good idea. Beyond the question of whether we could get away before she responds, it also means we can't stay behind and, say, tell Jiraiya that we've got an idea or finish overseeing the end of events)

HAZOU: So you planned this?

AMI: All according to cake.

HAZOU: Cool

HAZOU: *simultaneously overestimates Ami and begins thinking complicated plots with many moving parts are practical*

Really though, why is it necessary to do this? We all know the answer is "Not really." (Or we should) and asking in character is only going to make Hazou look dumb or give Ami a chance to hoodwink him.

Enough people think that Ami was instigating this with some goal in mind like getting Hazou to use his favour that I'm willing to investigate, so long as we don't make assumptions and preemptively burn bridges.

Also, @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail did we finally set up message protocols with Ami?

I express doubt that this was the case, and if said individuals want to walk me through the steps here I am open to being convinced, but this looks like some wild-ass-guess Shikaku.jpg stuff to me at the moment.

I don't think we can get the Pangolins on board, because a) this isn't Summoning, anyone we send could actually die which is a very different kind of agreement from what we have with our Tessera, and b) the Pangolins as a whole do not want to seek confrontation with the Crows, and I doubt we can convince them otherwise. We can ask them to send messages, though, and Jiraiya might find sending a message through that vector more poignant or something, so it's worth mentioning.

To be fair, they are single-handily conquering the world thank to us.
"The Crows summoner kidnapped our adopted brother" is kinda a big deal,as far as "Help needed" is concerned.
They can refuse, of course...that would be the equivalent of spitting in the face of their benefactor, to the point that Keiko could be completely justified in cutting the supply of skywalkers unless they are attacked.
So they would need to choice between potentially starting a war with a faction they want to conquer....or risking antagonizing the one that it's giving them such victories in the first place.

Refusing to help would imply that the Pangoling don't have our back in life or death business, after we gave them world domination...that's, a big statement to make, so even if they refuse we can use it to our advantage in future negotiation, or to diminish the amount of seal we give them, under the pretense of betrayal.
"We gave you everything we have, risking death to the other summoners, and this is how you repair us? We can't trust you with our full capabilities i see".
What can the Pangoling do to us? Cut off our resources? No more seals, this means they do that, they are all dead, the rest of the factions would crush them once they found out they are vulnerable.
In short, without Pangoling money we are fucked, but the without our seal the Pangoling are fucked, even worse than us, now that they overplayed their hands.

We are in a far stronger negotiation position with them than it seems, and we can(and should) ask Jiraiya about it when we have time

Personally i would be very careful in how we frame the question, Ami is not a omniscient monster, as much as she likes to give this impression, let's not give her the impression we believe she's more OP than she actually is.

Of course, my opinion is that we should completely re-frame our relationship with Ami and just enjoy the crazy: Hazou can't win against Ami if he sees everything she does as an attack, and not an enjoyable thing, because he will always be put on the defensive by the first crazy thing she does.
Narratively it makes sense: Hazou always behave in strange things, so knowing he doesn't need to control everything he does in fear of doing something crazy, because Ami is worse, would really help him, on top of that it would make Ami attacks far less useful, and it would give Hazou interest in seeing if Ami actually enjoy these things or not.

Dispell. The timing is too suspicious.

Also, if it's real, we don't have hours, we don't have minutes, we have seconds. The prince of sand just got kidnapped. That is an S ranked secret. You don't blurt that to an entire room full of everyone in the world unless it matters that you tell them right now, as opposed to thirty seconds from now when you write it on a sheet of paper for him to read.

Yeah, I'm glad to see that taken out. I feel like folks want to keep talking to Ami 7ntil Haxou gets the last word, but this is a daffy/bugs relationship.

Someone remind me when we are due to give Pangolins Skytowers again? I'm lazy and don't want to check what the date is.

The first question should probably be 'When?', and if it was recently we could try mobilizing everyone to go after them.

Is it possible she brought Yuki to be nice to Yuki, who is probably shut in/isolated too much? I'd feel bad getting upset if that were the case, even if Ami also did it because of shenanigans.

Maybe she brought Yuki to avoid Zabuza just killing everyone because he can't use AOE attacks? Now he has to try Zabuzadiplomacy (kind of a fail but still).

Wait, was Shin even here? There was a disturbing lack of him making fun of Hazou!?

Hazou: Hey, all of you! Get your asses there, on the field! we're going after Gaara!

Sand Team: Yay!

Everyone else: ... There are probably a bunch of S-rankers.

Hazou: YES!

Everyone: You just need a bunch of red-shirts ain't you?

Hazou: ...

JIRAIYA: Oh, the irony...

HAZŌ: Did you say something?

JIRAIYA: I said we're counting on you, Hazō.

-or, Jiraiya set up a contingency in case something exploded at the giant meeting of rivals and enemies.

-or, the end of the negotiations and Zabuza's return forced things to a head and he took advantage of the mass gathering for a major gambit.

It is nice to see your faith in J-man's intelligence is so high. Can't say I share it completely.

[X] Action plan: Operation Murder with Favor
  • Dispel.
  • If it is necessary after the civilian showed up, get Ami's attention surreptitiously in the chaos surrounding the announcement. Using the code you established, use handsigns (use mist handsign language in the code) for "favor", "stop", "intruder".
  • Game night is over, obviously. Make sure the other Genin dont get in the S-rankers and Jounins way
    • Try to find an ANBU agent to escort the Genin to their barracks
    • Locate Ikeda and let her know we want to keep in touch
  • Tell Jiraiya when he has a moment that we had an idea that might be helpful.
  • In high-OPSEC privacy pitch the following idea
    • Keiko mentioned that the polemarch hinted that he could forcibly bring her to the seventh path.
    • If this is true we could force the crows to reverse summon Itachi
      • We know that he doesn't have a good relationship with them.
      • Itachi apparently fought the clan solo, but it's probably a good idea to bring backup.
      • We don't know many summoners, but this may be worth contacting Tsunade and Orochimaru.
        • Bring up Orochimaru gently.
        • We can already guess that you're in touch with him, after that board game he sent.
        • But if you're not we could send a message through the pangolins
      • Keiko might be able to help if Jiraiya thinks it a good idea
    • Hazō of course is ready to scribe any seals the strike force might need
    • Also might work on Kisame's Sharks.
  • Go home and get packed, there's a likelihood you'll be leaving Mist very soon.
