It's @Inferno Vulpix's plan, but better.

[X] We are okay with the events that are currently unfolding
  • Calm down. Zabuza's not hunting you anymore, you're safe. Safe.
  • Go meet with Shin before it gets late.
    • This isn't an obligation or anything if you want to stay in Mist.
    • If he doesn't want to leave his team, we can ask Jiraiya if he can bring them along too.
  • Tomorrow, spend the day in the markets.
    • Get your shopping done.
      • Gift for Mari: An expensive piece of art.
      • Pay attention to every merchant you interact with for whether they'd be suitable for a writ of patronage.
    • Go around town and try to identify talented merchants, tradesmen, and performers who might be amenable to a writ of patronage.
      • Approach them with the offer.
      • [More details about approach]
  • Before you leave, have another game night.
    • Invite Zabuza, Mori Ryugaime, Ren, Jiraiya, Gai, Kakashi, and Hiashi.
    • Confide in Zabuza about the Ami debacle. Avoid details that might breach OPSEC.
    • How are you supposed to deal with people like that?
    • Stay away from the topic of Leaf, or anything we did while missing nin.

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

@faflec Would you share with us (in the immediate sense) anything you can recall Mari missing from Mist? I'd rather get her something more personal than expensive art.

Why are we spending xp on things that dont get us closer to an xp multiplier? We are better off empathy dripping after we get the extra xp from SC.
The idea of the empathy drip was born from the long-standing frustration at Hazou's primary social problems. At first the idea was to just dump XP into Empathy until it was a good stat, but after multiple discussions (and word of QM that simply raising Empathy wouldn't be enough to fix Hazou's characterization) the idea changed to a slow burn of raising Empathy in the background while we do Empathy-related actions IC in order to give Hazou enough narratively-significant moments to effect meaningful change to his characterization.

The Empathy Drip is the culmination of this, and people were pretty enthusiastic about it when we first defined the idea, save for the fact that we needed all our XP for the tournament ahead of us. So we shelved it. Now the tournament is over and we can do it, so I brought it off the shelves.

If we collectively decide that getting to Shadow Clone a month or so faster is more important than laying groundwork to support character growth for Hazou, then that's fine. But it's important that we consciously make that choice instead of defaulting to one answer out of negligence.

I... am not sure that having her mother would actually help her mental health.
Fine, we can figure out where Kazuhiro's body is and practice necromancy on him.

Serious: I don't get the feeling Mari likes Mist...like, at all. She has people she liked about it, but yanking them would be bad for multiple reasons. Any thing she likes that could be found in Mist (chocolate, blades, perfume...) could just as easily be found in other places, and giving her Mist-specific versions of those might just remind her about all the horrible fuckups she's done in Mist.

Honestly I'd try to get stuff from our travels, or something. Like some ratberry sauce if Kagome's run out or something.

I would rather manually buy a level of Empathy once every month or two IC than set up some sort of autodrip tbh. Seems like more QM bookkeeping.

The magic of spreadsheets can handle the bookkeeping.

e: On which note: No recent progress on the programs I mentioned a while ago.

Week 0: Got Factorio-baited
Week 1 (last week): Wisdom tooth taken out.
Week 2 (this week): Path of Exile-baited. Hopefully will make time to work on it, though.

Can we at least shelve the drip idea until we get back to Leaf and see what dumpster fire happened in our absence?
If something extreme has happened back at Leaf and we need to completely rework our XP plans for maximum efficiency in a specific direction, we can vote away the Empathy drip with only a few XP lost to it (and heck, they might just get refunded if we haven't bought any Empathy yet). Apart from something completely game-changing, though, we can tell from here that we're in for the long haul raising Chakra Reserves for almost a year.

Wouldn't any dumpster fire there be something that would need Empathy and social characterization to resolve anyway? We're not exactly going to be able to fix an injured Akane with Sealing, nor avenge a dead one with Taijutsu. On the other hand, better social characterization might prevent us from putting our foot in our mouth and getting killed if we find out that Akane is dead.

[X] Training Hazou: Empathy Drip.

Yeah, we need to start speccing into Empathy before too long. It's true that Shadow Clones might increase our XP generation, but consider that we might need to start making plans for every individual Shadow Clone and then suddenly our XP gain vanishes, or about a million other things that can go wrong.

Well, yes, but its more moving parts that need to be stitched together.

I mean it's currently December 28th. We left Mountain on January 4. It's a 3 day trip back to Leaf
Theres no need to be exact--to the day-- about this. I dont understand why folks are getting into the nitty-gritty there. We can take a week, Keiko can become minimally grumpy after emotionally cuddling with Tenten for a bit, and we can get our game on.

I am leery of using Keiko as a divine figure/prophet/whatever the fuck the exact wording is given her poor social skills (both mechanically and as depicted in the story) and the fact that, in order for her to fulfill her role, she must socially interact with the inhabitants of Mountain to an extreme degree.

Fix her social issues, from both ends, and get Jiraiya's approval (and WOW we haven't even done that), and I'm game for Mountain.

Edit: I suppose we would also want to fix her current mental state, but that's probably included in the "fix her her social issues" thing.

My point is that it's dependent on several conversations, and how Keiko feels about us at the time, whether we go with her. Additionally, there's the threat of Skywalkers being out there now to be concerned about.

tbf there's an extremely obvious cause for Ami going maxiumum jonin that I don't know whether Jiraiya was too tactful or too out of it to bring up but she did kinda lose her sister for nigh on two years; same thing brought Hana into a depressive spiral

Anywho, eaglejarl said he was okay with this the other day so I'll go and put this up:

[X] Training Hazou: Empathy Drip.
  • Divert 10% of the XP Hazou gains into a fund that automatically raises Empathy when enough has accumulated.
  • Continue until a vote to remove the Empathy Drip passes. Re-evaluate after one month.
Feel free to vote for no training or something else for this update if you don't want the empathy drip, but I think this will be a good thing to have for the near-to-medium future.
Remind me, what can we do with Empathy?

Good point. And Keiko, being gone, wouldn't have seen her spiral downward if that was the case.
