OK, so I misread "all but declared" as "literally declared", but for all intents and purposes it means the same thing.
I don't have trouble believing that Hinata's father is a ruthless bastard, that's consistent with anyone who would willingly use a caged bird seal.

The real question is whether MfD Hinata is ruthless and awful like her father, or does she hate the way he treats the family and want to be a decent person like canon Hinata?

If she's like a more confident canon Hinata then she'd be open to something where everybody wins, especially the people in her own family that her father has mistreated for so long, but probably also people in Leaf in general. She might even completely hate her father's ruthlessness and the way he's treated the rest of the clan, and want some alternative that's better for all the branch families than magically enforced slavery.

Says Jiraiya. I reserve the right to be sceptical about this supposed vendetta. It's not implausible, but it's also an irrational and wasteful strategy that feels out of character for an experienced career politician. It was also very convenient for Jiraiya in terms of protecting the clan's interests at the time, which should always be cause for suspicion.

One of the reasons I'd like to become closer to Hinata would be to test this. Hell, with Hazou's Deceit, he could ask her how she feels about this supposed vendetta and observe the reaction.

Remember that he was scaremongering against our scaremongering.

Holy crap, that's legitimately brilliant.
Wasn't my idea but I can't be assed to figure out who suggested it.

You mean "in character", right? :p

Huh. You know, reactive armor would actually be a really good idea. Remind me, can we Misterate hardened steel?
I dunno? Probably not?

Note: Cage seal had not been confirmed canon. We have not had any real interactions with the Hyuga clan.

We should probably ask the QMs if Neji suspiciously keeps his forehead covered literally all the time. Or we could ask Hinata leading questions in vague terms about whether there's anything about the world she wishes she could change so we can find common ground for a shared vision of uplift.

I vaguely recall a post at some point about hardwood being about the hardest thing the macerators can grind up. No guarantees I'm remembering right though.

I'm sure that former spymaster and now hokage Jiraiya subject to a vendetta by the head of the Hyuuga knows the answer if simply ask him.

Y'know, those twin first Iron Nerve users in Lineages didn't just copy their own movements. They flawlessly copies both each other's techniques and their mother's movements in her hyper-advanced kata through observation alone. Is that a known ability of the modern Iron Nerve?

The Mangeyoki Iron Nerve of course.

I'm pretty sure the "Mangekyou" (Aside: Applying this word to our bloodline always crosses my wires because it just creates a pile of cool sounding gibberish. ) Iron Nerve is just the regular 'ol Sharingan.

Oops. What the Mizukage wants me to say I meant to say was: yes, the vaunted Mangekyou Iron Nerve, secret pillar of strength for the Kurosawa. That's the one. Yup.

Do we still have our Mist forehead protectors?

Without another word she snatched the hitai-ate off their heads, scorched them with a quick lightning jutsu, and scattered them and a bit more blood around. She herded them back onto the water, taking care to erase their tracks as she went, then studied the scene for a long minute. She stepped in and made some minor adjustments -- flattening a patch of grass here, wiping out a last footprint there -- then nodded in satisfaction.

Maybe we have some spares?

If memory serves, the original Iron Nerve users didn't have a normal version of the bloodline, but rather something roughly halfway between the Sharingan and what it would eventually end up as. It took a generation or two to settle down into the Iron Nerve as the Kurosawa knew it.

That suggests we might be able to regain this power if we have Kabuto poke at our central nervous system enough or somehow unlock the Mangekyou Iron Nerve, but it's a longshot.

(PS: The QMs have gone on record saying that since the Iron Nerve is a more self-focused version of the Sharingan and the Mangekyou Sharingan is activated by believing you killed someone dear to you, it stands to reason that if the Mangekyou Iron Nerve exists it is activated by killing yourself, which is... problematic)

MADSCIENTIST: Therefore we must do necromancy.
