Apropos of @Roomba's plan to talk to Ami, I am so close to just voting for it just to spite Keiko if I wasn't for the fact that she would shoot down even the toned down version of the plan (I genuinely can't think of a way for her to not tell Hazou to stay away regardless of what we say to her).

I am specifically motivated by this portion of the most recent update:

Keiko gave him a look. "I noticed the way you were looking at me earlier, Hazō. Escapology is a fine art intended for evolved minds, not a way to sate your questionable predilections."

"I don't have any predilections!" Hazō exclaimed. "I was just impressed at your flexibility."

"Of course you were. Hazō, while I am entirely sympathetic to the suffering caused by your breakup, please understand that, even were I able to bypass my failings, I am not prepared to take Akane's place in helping you to pursue your fetishes."

"In that case, since I can't have you, Keiko, I decided to go for the next best thing: your sister. I have never actually seen her but since she shares most of your genetical makeup - don't look at me like that, I do pay attention when Noburi talks about his mad science lessons - she has to be just as gorgeous and flexible as you. She also happens to be the one person in the world that can protect me from you should the need arise, so I see zero drawbacks.

"Funny thing is, if I hadn't had this talk with you just now I never would have realized this so I really have to thank you for putting me on the path of finding love again, Keiko. That said, I might be willing to postpone my plan if we can come to an agreement about our tournament match..."

And thus ended our quest.

Is this in reference to Keiko's reaction to the "Hazō proposes to irradiate Keiko with the Power of Love" plan or the "Hazō proposes to verbally abuse Keiko's beloved sister" plan?
I was referring to neither of those explicitly, but rather some future method of upsetting the fragile balance of this world.

Although, now that you put it that way, I'm almost certain that I shouldnt be voting for either of these with their current setups.

(@MadScientist pls no power of love
@Roomba if you're going to Ami-meme please do so seriously. Shipping is srs bzns)

If we're not doing JP practice with Kei then I have no interest in the vote as a whole tbh.

e: Not that it should stop you from pushing for your own desires, of course, just putting out there that I have no interest in doing it with Jiraiya, so...

Also, cating up on many-pages:

Itachi massacred the Uchiha as part of an acausal trade with every other Itachi, so that the modal Itachi is less likely to be in someone's Tsukiyomi dream.

I don't think this works as/requires acausal trade? Each particular Itachi who massacres the Uchicha guarantees they will not be caught in a Tsukuyomi dream, right? So it works as a purely selfish and local action.

Airships get talked about a lot, but I've never been clear on what advantage they have over a ninja with a backpack full of storage scrolls. At least, what advantage they have that is worth the research, construction, and maintenance issues. Is it only that it allows getting above threats and avoiding challenging terrain?

Oh it's simple they're just on the tech path to spaceships, and we wanna get the hell out from this bonkers planet and make our own.

Edited: is the first vote in a vote tally no longer a link to the vote? A bunch of votes seems to point at Marked for Death: A Rational Naruto Quest | Page 4795

No breaks on the meme vote train now. You've put it on the rails, now we're sticking to it!

I don't see it as a meme vote. I genuinely considered it to be an avenue worth pusuing in getting a jonin aura. That I now disagree with that assessment (at least in regards to how Kei may react) doesn't retroactively make it a meme vote.

On the other hand, if you do see it as a meme vote then I strongly recommend you unvote it. Remember how you felt after the youthsuit incident if you need motivation.

I note that there are other plans to vote for, including one that skips right to the tourny.

Fine, fine, whatever. Cut the line about wanting to berate Ami (I still kind of want Hazou to be angry at her for strategic purposes, though), added the creed back in because it's cool and I don't have any better ideas. Wordcount is above 300, and I don't know how to reduce it without losing stuff I care about.

Word count: 384.

[X] Action Plan: One small step
  • Hazou asks Keiko's permission to talk to Ami
    • He won't do anything without her permission. It's under her complete control.
    • He would, however, like to hear what Ami has to say on the topic of her treatment of Keiko.
    • If there's any hope of reconciliation between them, he'd like to try. He knows how much Ami means to Keiko.
    • He also hopes that Keiko might find it in herself to forgive Mari someday, if he succeeds.
  • Grab an hour-ish of Jiraiya's time, alone, if possible.
    • Mindset: Mentally prepare for the most brutal thing you have ever experienced.
    • Ask him about Killing Intent.
      • What's the deal there?
    • Help us practice resisting it, please?
    • Ask Jiraiya to floor you with a bit of his KI as he is the scariest/strongest around.
    • Now. Get. Up.
      • You are Hazou Gouketsu, son of Hana and Shinji.
      • Just one man.
      • Jiraiya is also just one man.
      • If you can't stand against Jiraiya's will, how will you stand against the world itself?
      • The world is a ravenous, unfeeling machine, slowly devouring humanity. We are all its victims - civilians and ninjas, innocents and killers, the weak and the powerful. We all deserve more.
      • You must defeat it. And you can.
      • You took a mundane defensive seal, and let people walk on air with it. In your hands, a pile of wood and a storage scroll turn into a blazing inferno of death.
      • You will bring down every wall, shatter every chain, undo every barrier the world places in your path. You will find a way, as you always have.
      • You must win. And you will.
      • Stand. Raise your head high. Look Jiraiya in the eye.
    • Repeat a few times.
      • Try to at least raise your head and look Jiraiya in the eye without hurting yourself.
    • Ask Jiraiya for intel on our competitors.
  • Bond with Keiko and Noburi:
    • It is readily apparent that Hazou has less skill with relationships than a fish.
    • To rectify this, we would like to create a post-interaction survey to have individuals fill out, to get feedback on the quality of social interaction.
    • Hazou makes the above suggestion in his most serious tone, and attempts to argue in favor of it seriously.
    • He pushes his Deceit to the limit to push this joke as far as he can.
@Oneiros @Noumero @QTesseract it begins. Am I forgetting anyone else who wanted in?

Do we have enough information to know for sure or infer that Keiko went on the warpath directly to Hana in Ch 215 ?

I don't think so. And even if we did, being combative about this with a "you did it to me, now I get to do it to you" demand is unlikely to give good results, in my opinion.

Edit: Keiko did feel guilty about intruding into Hazou's life back then, though. If we could have him unknowingly remind her of that, it could help...

Inserted tally
Adhoc vote count started by MMKII on Nov 20, 2018 at 11:32 AM, finished with 530 posts and 18 votes.

When I call it a meme vote I'm referring to appealing to memes to get votes, not to how well-reasoned the positions of some who vote for it is. Something can be a meme vote and still be a good choice.

I object to meme votes on grounds that they get more votes than non-meme vote competing plans simply because of memetic elements of it, such as, in this case, the shounen stuff.

e: And I'm going through with this vote because it's a relatively low risk (IMO) that will either lead to a cool scene or a lesson in avoiding memetic language in plans without too much in-character loss in the process.

This can happen when the original plan is not actually the first post chronologically in the thread for various reasons: such as deleted posts, AIs becoming sentient, votes edited in an earlier post, forum bugs or magic.
OK but none of the votes for Action Plan: The Power of Love to Go Even Further Beyond in the tally actually link to an action plan? So it's not like it's reordered?

I don't feel I particularly did that either.

Most of what I remember from yesterday is arguing with MMKII on whether direct defiance is a better aproach than trying to reframe the interaction, and some stuff before and after that regarding whether or not Kei would hate being psychically told that she's loved.

Is this because the title contains the phrase "Power of Love"? The music intended to set the mood for the Jiraiya scene? I'm struggling to think what could have been a meme about this.

With all the sealing ways to destroy the world I'm surprised the world still exists. Yes, it is highly irrational, but irrational people exist.

Most of the ways to destroy the world have smaller failure modes along the way to worldwide destruction that just eat the idiot Sealmaster.

Probably the person who originally wrote the plan unvoted themselves? Which would be odd..

As I said, the shounen stuff. It's appealing on grounds unrelated to the effectiveness of the plan to (attempt to) make a grand sweeping gesture of defiance. I admit it even sways me to vote for it to some extent.
