Nope, not good enough. The entire plan henges on the guarantee of lethality should anyone fail to clear out of the way. This is like playing Game Theoretic Chicken, except we have a tank and the other guys don't.
Then the plan's just not viable. We can't use lethal force in the exams.

No, we can definitely do that. We just can't kill anyone. And we won't.

Keep in mind all of the idiots who have no instincts for preservation should have been eliminated long before now.

That's cutting it awfully fine with the rules, and taking a terrible risk.

Imagine some idiot doesn't believe that we'd use lethal force and tests the explosives and gets pulped. Leaf gets thrown out of the exams and forfeits its entire deposit and we've disgraced Jiraiya who almost certainly loses the hat for his demonstrably poor judgement in picking us for his clan. Everyone hates us. Massive fail.

Not worth the risk.

I'm pretty sure someone WILL die, the voters will throw a fit, and there will be retcons.

Btw, does the great sage Toad who can see the future know when retcons happen? Is there anyone in universe that does? Because that would be interesting.

Okay, lets clarify here:

The point of taking the game theoretic approach is to make this outcome literally inconsistent by (1) making death guaranteed should our adversaries fail to gtfo, (2) making it very easy for them to gtfo, and (3) ensuring everyone has mutual knowledge of this state of affairs.

This of course assumes that given 1, 2, and 3, we can bank on the fact that no one will willingly choose to die, and thus we can just collect all the points. This is a safe assumption, as every contestant here has already been given more than enough opportunity to suicidally attack us if that was their aim.

I will grant that, of course, without adequate planning we can fail to accomplish one or more of those tasks, but as we have not yet discussed how best to accomplish those tasks in the first place, I believe preemptively declaring "we can't possibly do it" is just an inadequacy of ambition.

TLDR: "But what if not 1/2/3?" is not a valid rebuttal.

Worth noting is that it's quite likely there will be hostages involved. I mean, this is T&I simulation. We can't just blow up the entire building AND the hostage.

The trick is to only counterfactually blow up the entire building and the hostage, except in the possible realities where the hostage willingly walks out of their own accord.

...So you're saying eaglejarl doesn't get to write punching, or exploding, and we still get all the points?

That is exactly what I'm saying.

Except we probably still have to use some explosives to show we're serious.

...Oh hey, remember how we just got dumped?
We can start the convincing now, actually. If they do split us all up on different teams... Hazou can make this as a bluff to the whole of Super Team Leaf. If he successfully convinces everyone that he's willing to do this, then they have no choice in the matter.

YES. YES WE MUST DO THIS. Except it's no bluff.

  • Inform STL that, unless otherwise barred from doing so by the event rules, we intend use up to the entirety of the lethality of our sealing arsenal to ensure the complete and utter annihilation of anyone who stands in our way of the goal. Inform them that usage of such will be loudly announced ahead of time, and that every opportunity will be given to clear out of the way. Further, we intend to make it known to everyone that this is our strategy.
  • Sleep in shifts, maintain security, get to the event on time
  • Leave Noburi or Keiko to answer questions on the above

@Radvic It's not quite "time," but this is definitely worthy of summoning you for. :)

So. How do we keep our own team from backstabbing us in the process of doing this?

Why not just pop our enemies' ear drums instead of threatening to turn them into paste? We still get big booms and disable everyone else before the tournament. This way we also don't have to worry about suicidal idiots being themselves.

@eaglejarl @OliWhail @Velorien Does Noburi know if medical ninjutsu can heal broken ear drums?

More OPSEC blown, less cost, and more likely to be believed... hm. Fair trade-off, I'd say.
e:
No! That's violent and evil! And also against the rules; thus would incur a pretty massive fine from personal damages.
We don't know what the rules are. :p

SHIN: (calls HAZOU's bluff)

HAZOU: (has actually fucking snapped due to the events of the previous chapter)

SHIN: (falls to the ground as chunks of gore)

--[x]By that, I mean we still gather what information we can without breaking the rules or OPSEC. Try our best to include STL.
