Incidentally, we need to figure out what that secret was that we can't spill. I am split between one of the jutsu on her list, skywalkers, and her just deciding to mess with people.

Maybe the whole being internationally wanted terrorists thing is one of them? Or having agreed not to have a monogamous relationship?

Wait... I'm not actually sure Hazou would have gone negative in points. Given that we DQed about 25% of ninja, and a significant amount further were DQed later... they would not have had the opportunity to vote us, while we'd have the opportunity to vote them nonetheless.

If you are not on a team with the least-badly-scoring person from this event then the proctor in the hall will tell you how much time remains until the next event. After that, you are free to go.

Uhh. Am I reading this wrong, or does this not imply the rule was added by Mist to screw our team over because Hazou had the lowest score after being 'captured'?

There is a loophole that I believe we haven't noticed.

DQed ninja are not allowed to gain points. We assumed that meant they weren't allowed to vote.

But voting also makes another player lose points. Its possible that all the DQed players are now negative sum players, causing everyone else to go negative.

No, it means that the team with the highest score doesn't get the time. "Least-badly-scoring" means highest scoring in this situation. It's just worded differently because everybody did badly.

Its almost certainly anything to do with our actual past and not the false bullshit story concocted after she returned.

So Team Downfalls plan was to do almost exactly the same sort of nonsense we would have done had we not been out for 8 hours? Cute.

It sounds like we shouldve just started posting lists everywhere anyway. Whoops.

We can't lose points by someone else who has been DQed already, no? How many were DQed over the course of this event?

If its >60 then we have a very solid chance. We probably lose a lot of points from whatever portion of the remaining that decide to go with our info but we also gain points from a solid portion of people that have left and that still remain (those 100 identities though). If you got the DQ at all though, you are absolutely boned since you get a big fat -200 on top of whatever points you will lose anyway.

The laws of probability should be on our side...

Edit: Although this will absolutely compel us to game the fuck out of the next event.

I find it extremely likely that we came out to a (very small) net positive here along with many others not DQed. At worst we get a marginal decrease in points. I don't think this will change much other than bumping us down a few places in the rankings, to the point where we may have to try very hard to eliminate everyone next event.

The odds of the 36 people or so we do not have info on also being NOT DQed (there were probably 30-50 of those?) as well as all of them going in on us is marginal.

EDIT: YOU ARE FUCKING SHITTING ME

Perhaps I don't understand. I thought every ninja that got DQed couldn't cause other people to lose points, meaning the more people got DQed the less our worst case point loss could be. Is that not right?

On the other hand, DQ'd contestants get escorted away from the event. If they didn't know who Hazou was before they got DQ'd then we don't lose points over it. I'll also note that most DQ's seem to have happened in our EM/Tipserator tableflip, which took place after Team Downfall figured out our identity but before lists started flying around, so I doubt most of them knew who we were.

WE SHOULDVE JUST CAUSED A MASSIVE POLITICAL INCIDENT
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So the only way we could have possibly won this was to not participate at all -- and not even contact our teammates (as that is what gave us away to Team Downfall) -- or DQ all of our primary competitors.

No, I haven't read any of the manga. Reading my entire way through this quest was my first introduction to Naruto.

I started with the first episode of the first anime, not part 2, so I can't speak to whether it's on drugs yet.

Oh, what's with the crystal ball the Hokage has?
Don't worry about it. You'll never see it, or the insanely OP 'Telescope Jutsu', again.

Clarification: To survive. I mean, there were these chakra-enhanced plants that shot barbs from a distance, there's no way they would be able to derive nutrients from such a long distance.

...unless the barbs were actually seeds, and the plant was actually trying to reproduce. fml
Actually, the barbs were attached to tubes of some sort. The plant exsanguinated its target.

*sobbing in Hazou*

I'm so sorry guys I fucked us
*baps you on the nose* Stop that! You did fine. I honestly cannot think of a way that things could realistically have ended up better.

You sure about that? It certainly wasn't my understanding, but I'm prepared to have @OliWhail and @Velorien tell me that I misunderstood something. My understanding is that everyone votes and loses points, it's just that the DQ'd people cannot also gain points.

EDIT: Ignore this. I need to not answer questions at almost-midnight. I forgot we'd already ruled that no, DQ'd people do not vote.

Confusion: 136 divided by 3 is 45 + 1/3, but teams are in groups of 3? Did something happen to one team that caused them to lose two members or something?

Thats not even true in this case since theres a fucking cheaty eyes Hyuga in the event.

Easy there, we got out of this one with all of our political capital with the Leaf clan heirs intact. If we retain a good enough position in the rankings to make the tournament after doing well in the last event (it is our specialty, I'm told) then we end up in the best reasonable timeline.
