Well, we're starting from the top of the rankings and like every other Leaf-nin have over a hundred identities to cash in on, so there's good odds our initial lead will at least carry us through to the next round. We're going to lose first place, quite possibly drop beyond 15th place and need to actively excell to earn positions at the tournament... but this next event is our specialty, I'm told.

We got this.

So Team Downfalls plan was to do almost exactly the same sort of nonsense we would have done had we not been out for 8 hours? Cute.

It sounds like we shouldve just started posting lists everywhere anyway. Whoops.

We can't lose points by someone else who has been DQed already, no? How many were DQed over the course of this event?

If its >60 then we have a very solid chance. We probably lose a lot of points from whatever portion of the remaining that decide to go with our info but we also gain points from a solid portion of people that have left and that still remain (those 100 identities though). If you got the DQ at all though, you are absolutely boned since you get a big fat -200 on top of whatever points you will lose anyway.

The laws of probability should be on our side...

Edit: Although this will absolutely compel us to game the fuck out of the next event.

So... should we start planning our table flip for the last event now, or after we find out what it is? I'm thinking punch everyone and blame it on Shin.

Faflec, don't worry, people were gunning for 'the traitors' no matter what the plan was. This was probably unavoidable. Unless...maybe we found a way not to participate in the event (hide underground or whatever) so we couldn't be outed, and got a 0 net score? Would that have worked?

Well, whatever.

So if we get dropped from the exams now, do we still participate in the tournament, or not?

Hyūga raised her hands placatingly. "Very well. There were one hundred and thirty-six contestants onsite at the start of the event. Three more came in after it had begun."
Confusion: 136 divided by 3 is 45 + 1/3, but teams are in groups of 3? Did something happen to one team that caused them to lose two members or something?

IT'S ALWAYS MY FAULT EVERYTHING IS MY FAULT FOREVER AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

And no, we don't get to be in the tournament. Top 16 people only.

We should start planning now.

If we get tossed out of the exams we have about... 10? 10 months worth of brainstormed sealing backlog that we can spend a month on and then give Jiraiya to make him look like a god among men. So that scenario is colored.

It would have been a -30 net score for not participating... Which leads to the very interesting conclusion that the people who did best were the ones who couldn't find it.

Through the game, we have a very uneven performance. The fact that we may failed the third event isn't surprising in itself.

Yes, there was the person who came up to them toward the end who said that the other two members of their team were DQed.

Edit - Sorry, that was Sado.

So upon introspection a very valid strategy would have been to just camp out underground for the entire party. Hmm.

[Χ] ACTION PLAN: FUCK 'EM

Eh, I'm pretty sure they'd get docked 200 points for not being in their assigned disguise.

No, Sada's teammates were DQ'd around midnight, which FMPOV means they were DQ'd during the event (at around midnight).

Yes, right. I misremembered.

@Vecht, why do you want to break up with wonderful Akane? She puts up with a lot, and we've demonstrated that we need that in a girlfriend.

@Vecht, you throwing shade at Best Apprentice? You want a shipping war, right here, right now? Are you prepared for that blood on your hands?

[X] Shower, eat, take a nap, and talk things over with Akane.

(I'm actually pretty neutral on Akane, I just don't like the idea of dropping a relationship at the first sign of trouble, even if the trouble was the result of underlying issues. If Hazou were to think it over, and next week still thought that things weren't right, I would be fine with it.)

Incidentally, we need to figure out what that secret was that we can't spill. I am split between one of the jutsu on her list, skywalkers, and her just deciding to mess with people.

Akane is simply too naive and short-sighted for us to be beholden to such promises (which, I might add, were made by Keiko). We should not sacrifice opportunities to come out ahead in the exams (and thus helping to secure Jiraiya's position politically and by extension our ability to use Leaf's resources to further our long-term goals) in order to satisfy her misguided conscience out of some silly romantic ideal that is itself misguided.

Remember that breaking OPSEC on secret techniques is something ninjas kill over.

The way I see it, we have to break up with Akane now, or murder the rest of STL. Our hand is basically forced here.

Akane is naive and shortsighted, and consistently allows her idealism to override rational considerations. I only ever accepted this state of affairs because she was a useful and willing pawn.

But now she has demonstrated not only a complete lack of ambition, but a willingness to get in the way of ours, as well as the complete lack of ability to stand her ground even on matters which she feels strongly.

She is dead to me. {/quote}

Also she's not as good as Ino.
