Yeah, unfortunately we weren't attacked during the night, and now we might be forced to fight on ground of our opponents' choice. On the plus side, we do actually get some forewarning and ability to plan.

One of our enemies could be a enemy sealsmith, there was an unknown number of explosive seals with the clone. (Could also be just purchased ones, but who knows) so we could run into traps by enemies.
Which is why I suggested throwing explosive tags out in front. Since, presumably, they would trigger the traps prematurely.

We could also have Panashe, our Stealth Pangolin, sniff out the perimeter before we leave. That could be useful.

Hm. Force Wall Seals.

Plant them far enough away and they'll create a barrier of force that'll decapitate us if we run through them. Difficult to see since they're invisible, dangerous to us since we'll be want to move quickly.

Any idea how to counter these seals or should we have a different plan in mind?

Let's bomb a path through our own trap field rather than go through their prepared grounds at the exits. Bet they won't expect that!

We have evidence that pangolins can tunnel in the swamp. Why not just sneak by underground?

Unknown ability of enemies to notice and/or interact with us while underground (canonically there is an anti-Doton technique used by Kitsuchi and Kurotsuchi of Hidden Rock). We can mitigate this effect by sending Panashe out and having her report on teams that demonstrated sufficiently high Alertness and/or have traps underground, which would have been my next suggestion.

So yeah, I think we should have Panashe probe the area for weaknesses to see what ambush level our enemies have. Then we make sure that our enemies can't see us from the fort (i.e., make sure the entire thing is covered up) to hide the creation of our tunnel and subsequent going-underground. Probably will suggest that we use a skilled Pangolin for a sturdier tunnel, but am not sure about the specs so this may not end up happening. Hazou, obviously, should be making seals whenever we're not moving.

Now here's a secondary question: Do we leave the base and go to the meeting point (forfeiting our ability to make new seals) or do we leave the base and go further in to the swamp (so Hazou can make new seals)?

We could try to Blitz our way past any opposition by intentionally setting off our traps to dazed and confuse those around the fort. Making use of the shock and awe Factor so that the Ambush gets triggered prematurely. That would give us the initiative as well as setting the tempo of the encounter. We have the advantage getting out of the fort area and picking our direction. Do we know where we have to go to exit the Swamp and is that the only exit? If so we could save part of the payload of traps for that area with our blitz.

I get the feeling that our Banshees and Banshee Slayers are going to be even more effective here than we originally thought. They are very distracting and our primary goal is to escape to get to the proctors, so a few seconds where everyone except us is suddenly reeling from INCREDIBLY LOUD NOISE would greatly help us slip away or do what we need to create an opening (or, if we have to, just get a really solid few opening rounds)

Actually no plan secret tunnel isn't my favorite. We want to send a message that Leaf is still the biggest badass on the block. That fucking with leaf is committing suicide. So we need to go in and face this ambush head on and crush them to dust.

Does anyone have any obvious reasons for not summoning a bunch of Pangolins and just riding out of here with Banshees/Banshee Slayers on, and throwing training explosives/more Banshees/flashbangs(?) ahead of us? I'm not entirely sure what even a coordinated attack by low-Chunin can do against this?

If we're going to bring out the full Pangolin array (and Keiko might not want to, they're effectively her trump cards for the tournament), then why not actually engage the big ambush and beat them into the ground? I, for one, really want to know what clans and villages they're from at minimum, it'd be really useful information for Jiraiya. Furthermore, if we just avoid it, they will try again if the exam gives them an opportunity.

I honestly feel like it's better to actually deal with this sword of Damocles rather than have it continuously hang over our heads.

EDIT: Also, it's eaglejarl writing the next update, so we'll get more XP for punching.

Wouldn't it be wiser to crush the tournament in a public, humiliating manner? Admittedly the tournament is 1v1 which limits team ability but it still is waaaaaay more public than doing it now, where people could rationalize (read: delude) that we won through trickery than sheer combat.

Edit: I'm aware that we could do both, but am worried that doing it now would reveal our hand early and weaken our ability to do it later.

I'll admit, I'm a little sad that the "nightlight seals are sealing failures waiting to happen" was dropped.
It added some pizazz to the proceedings.

The Blitz plan has been suggested quite a bit by several people all at once. That would mean that our opponents would also think of that too. We could try and double bluff and fake the Blitz at the second hour then use stealth to escape the expected trap. We would have to make use if our sensory skills and knowledge of the limitations of the sensory abilities that we know of to plan our route out.

Would they? The Blitz plan is completely predicated on us knowing just how powerful some of our Pangolins are. Our enemies know that Keiko is the Pangolin Summoner, but the contract was lost to the world for 400 years. Nobody really knows what they're specifically capable of.

I'm going to predict that our assassins sent in a bundle of disguised explosives in order to provoke us into attacking them instead of running from them. Why? Because if they didn't attack us in such a blatant manner, and the next ~2 hours went by uneventfully, our immediate plan would have been to sneak away from the base. There would have been no goddamn reason to fight our enemies. But now? We're aware that there are enemies gunning for us specifically, and now we're debating if it's a good idea to whack them upside the head now instead of later. The option "fight our enemies" is a thing now, and it has traction within Hazou's hivemind.

My further prediction: By giving us the information that there are people out to get them, they've revealed that they do not have the ability to prevent us from leaving underground. If they did have the ability to stop our escape underground, they would have let us continue believing that they didn't exist, and fuck us while we were underground.

Hilarious, but impractical, idea: What if we keep a Pangolin and/or some clones in the base, to fool our assassins that we're still here? We could trick them into DQ'ing themselves waiting for us.

Our goal is to escape the swamp not to incapacitate everyone in the our way of that goal. We could try riding out on the backs of the Pangolin but what about that says about the rest of the people within our group who are not summoners? Our plans will have to be cognizant of how the Proctors will View and grade are allies not just ourselves. And any plan which limits their involvement is one that will not be readily accepted by them.

Shame we lost team Kurenai, but oh well.

Wait. Why would we even need Panashe to avoid attackers? We've got Neji. He should do a far better job of scouting and without even leaving the group.

You must light the seals in front of us to take them! In 48 hours, you WILL meet back here. You get one point for every glowing seal you turn in to us!"

Seeing that our target location is outside of the swamp and probably a no-fight zone....we could just continue making the seal there and leave early, I mean we are already bending the rules? Or are we only able to leave after the 48 hours? Kinda unclear on the details here.

I see no reason not to go with the classics.

Create a large cloud of mist and a lot of clones. Everyone henges to disguise themselves. Everyone (clones and real nin alike) uses a PMYF to clear the trap field instantly. The real nin and clones flee in different directions, forcing ambushes to split their forces. Neji and Noburi using their respective sensory capabilities help guide away from attackers. If we have to fight, we fight.

Leave after an hour and a half, leaving 90 minutes to report to the proctors.

Other suggestions:
1. Set off a practice explosion immediately, so whoever sent us a trap hears the explosion and isn't sure if we have injured or not. Leaves them uncertain.

2. We've already exposed Pangolin tunneling capability, so have our tunneler Pangolin move out ahead to set off some explosives and distract the enemy,
