There's no way the Uchiha Massacre isn't an inside job in MfD. The alternative is that a single teenager murdered all combat-ready ninja in a clan, alone, and without the rest of the village noticing. Either Itachi had help from Leaf ANBU and approval from Hiruzen, or he's an innocent who managed to escape the massacre, making himself into a convenient scapegoat.

I mean, in Naruto canon Itachi had help from a godlike ninja who had space-time bullshit powers and a Danzo-orchestrated conspiracy to at least keep the rest of the village looking the other way. Quoting Narutopedia:

In a single night, Itachi and Tobi slaughtered the entire Uchiha clan. In the anime, Tobi slaughtered the military portion of the Uchiha Clan by directly attacking the Konoha Military Police Force headquarters, enabling Itachi to slaughter the civilian portion without much resistance.

Even Kishimoto made sure the fix was in and that Itachi did the "easy part".

Faflec's Injunction:

Any question that can be answered with "Yes" or "No" will be, whether directed at him or not.

:p

Exactly. Even Kishimoto noticed just how nonsensical the idea was, and had to involve one of the most bullshit powers in the setting (Kamui) and a ridiculous conspiracy, just to explain it.

In a more rational setting, it's not so much the feat of killing all the clan ninja that is crazy, but the ability to keep it secret from the rest of the village, and to control information about it afterwards. We've spent a long time thinking about extracting a single Jounin from Mist, one who we expected to go along with it, and how difficult that was going to be, even for someone with Jiraiya's knowhow and resources. And here, some party manages to wipe out a whole clan of combat specialist ninja with a bullshit bloodline, in a single night, without tipping anyone off in a village full of overpowered sensors.

Like, I have trouble figuring out how someone would even do this in theory. Would have to be some kind of lateral solution like poisoning the water supply, as posited by faflec.

EDIT: Or maybe Kagome is right and it was the Sage who arranged it, somehow.

Wonder what the Uchiha Clan Compound looks like, and where it is? If it's out-of-the-way and protected by anti-Hyuuga seals it might not be so improbable that Itachi killed them all with a mass assassination technique.

I think we can generally handwave a pass at "without tipping anyone off". It was the middle of the night, the Uchiha had deliberately isolated themselves, and ninja combat happens really quickly. It's possible the whole thing was over in half an hour.

The question is, how many ninjas are in "a whole clan"? What kind of numbers are we really talking about here? A dozen? Twenty? Thirty? Fifty? More? Let's say we're concerning ourselves with chuunin and better.

A fully charged Tunneler's Friend has 300 minutes, or 5 hours, of air. That's at rest. Usamatsu's Glorious Life-Saving Purifier doesn't stop suffocation, only poisoning. We have...
I know we still have questions we need to answer, but I recalled seeing this and wanted to note that, even before The Awesome New System was a sparkle in anyone's eye, we had shifted the Tunneler's Friend from 300 minutes of air to 300 METs, as per a suggestion from the playerbase. Round costs up to the nearest integer.

So does the playerdoc measure use of Tunneler's Friend in METs? I was assuming it was when I did those calculations but the rule sheet uses "points"...

I assume you mean MET-minutes, since MET is just a ratio. That would mean faflec is correct, since 300 MET-minutes is 300 minutes at rest (at rest being a MET of 1). In which case TF's would still support nearly 40 minutes of vigorous activity (8 MET)... not much different practically speaking.

@Briefvoice I just remembered that it would be useful to pre-empt Noburi's hesitation when revealing the mist drain. Kind of a touchy subject, so probably best to just point out the possibility and let him decide what he wants to do ahead of time.

That said, I don't know how much time is left before voting closes, and modifying plans close to the deadline is rude, so might not be worth the hassle.

Deadline's already passed, it ended Wednesday 7AM EST.

*checks the player version of the rules*

Doh. I thought we were up to date, but apparently we are not. It's in the QM version of the doc. I'll get another push out, hopefully today or tomorrow.
