I find myself fond of the specific phrasing "we must assume Pain will resurrect" because what we're saying isn't that the Akatsuki will certainly succeed, but that we must act as if they will, that the chance is high enough to make "hope it doesn't happen" foolish enough to be discarded. We don't know for certain that Sasori will succeed, and that they'll be able to find Pain successfully, but it's certainly looking that way.

Very minor suggestion here, "disobeyed" instead of "betrayed". Seeing as, you know, we aren't loyal to Akatsuki and very much do not want to even make sounds reminiscent of the idea that we might be loyal to Akatsuki.

  • Sanity-check: MK.
  • Naruto:
    • Surrender Sasori's price.
      • Choose (w/ sanity-checkers, Kagome) the least-useful seals Sasori will accept.
      • Hazou/Kagome, as senior sealmasters, have veto power.
    • Dimensionalism:
      • Debrief Naruto.
      • If we do nothing, we must assume Pain will resurrect.
      • Our options: Move or close the rift permanently.
        • Both risk incurring Akatsuki's wrath AND require novel sealtech.
        • Moving it is probably harder but much more valuable if we can pull it off.
        • Alternatively, kill some/all the Akatsuki. Plausibly more difficult, but may be necessary regardless.
          • Without Sasori they cannot complete the research.
          • They travel in pairs - Eliminating each pair shrinks their S-ranker advantage.
          • Summoners pose additional danger due to reverse summoning - need to kill them before they do.
          • Orochimaru likely knows their weaknesses and should be consulted.
          • Given the Rift's static nature, we might be able to attack while they're exploring it: kill their rearguard and close the rift with them in it.
      • Akatsuki may also interrogate Hazou in case he's disobeyed them. We can:
        • Make Hazou unavailable.
        • Work fast and hope they don't do it.
        • Have Orochimaru do the research instead.
      • Orochimaru's interests should align with ours here, but he may also want to monopolize the portal for his own immortality.
        • Between you and Tsunade, he may listen to reason.
    • Now that we've invented lithosealing, we intend to teach Orochimaru for the Dragonwar.
      • Run Naruto through the risk/reward profile we discussed with Asuma; does he approve?
  • Misc:
    • Cannai: Could you convince Kumafuwafuwa to help fight the Dragons?
    • Kei: Pandā is in Dog; could he be double-assigned as Shark ambassador and work through Dog?
      • Ask Cannai to make sure this is OK with him.
    • Yuno: Don't prohibit her from registering as a Jashinist, but require that she inform Hazou before she does.
      • If she does, start rumours that she's only doing it to give Leaf someone to point to when Hidan shows up claiming discrimination.

There's been concerns about the Yuno Situation™ on Discord, I am seriously considering changing this into something along the lines of "Set Mari/Kei on this". If nobody objects before the deadline, I will change it.

Pls talk if you want it changed or keep it, I like to listen to arguments.
 
@faflec can you ask Mari et al. about submitting rocket boots and directional explosives (etc.) as part of our contribution?

Unrelated to anything current; Been rereading threadmarks, and saw this. I know we've been calling 3d seals 'runes' and that whatever the 'Great Runes' are, they predate the very concept. Still, I am curious about what the Great Runes are, and if possibly causality might be slightly backwards here and they're actually talking about 3d seals.

Oh, for context missing from the actual quoted segment, this is Ma and Pa toad arguing the first time Noburi met them.

Things I may or may not be changing before the deadline:
  • Re-adding in asking Naruto to give Kagome SCs: Will add IFF Velorien says it is OK and it will be off-screened.
  • Changing the Yuno section to having Mari/Kei deal with it IC: Will add, unless pushback happens.
  • Suggesting that we turn in seals Itachi took during his dimensionalism raid (EDIT: unrelated to dimensionalism): Will add, unless pushback happens.
Please talk it out; I always get worried if people don't say anything.

I do not know if we could fit in an appropriate scene this upcoming chapter, but perhaps we can talk to Ino about getting Yuno more involved in Leaf's social life? Yuno has desperately swung from various beliefs as a fringe outsider, so finding a way for her to be accepted outside of her new immediate family could help with her underlying issues of needing a support network.

As a stopgap until then we could have a line such as:
  • Have Hazou ask Yuno to meet with him as her clan head and higher-ranked Jashinist before she registers at the tower on her own
Her registration is not as pressing as us meeting the Hokage, so her wants will have to come later. Ideally, we can go with her later to register together with Naruto's prior permission for Hazou and Yuno to be the only official Jashinists in Leaf, kinda like how we had an arrangement with Asuma.

Oh! So he nabbed a bunch of dimensionalism stuff, but he didn't stop to check whether everything was strictly on-topic; he also nabbed a bunch of extra stuff. We're suggesting that the extra stuff he nabbed should count as our contribution?

Makes sense but its also kinda rules-lawyer-y and that doesn't seem like something the biggest bullies in the setting would appreciate.


Edit: It occurs to me that you were likely looking for feedback from people who are actually voting. Oops.
