More seriously, IMO there's no way she would accept to "become a vessel for the Hyuga seed" (I quote!) and there's no way a Clan head would marry an outsider and dilute the main branch bloodline.

I suppose?

Anyhow, what do you think of visiting her and giving her said thing and a hot meal while having Noburi offer her chakra water so she can spam any regen techniques she might know? Could get her back on her feet faster which would be a win for us.
@faflec Can you nix the line about asking Chouza for advice on acting as Clan Head? I'm not against this per se, but if we do that it needs to be careful so as to not send the wrong signals.
Done.
Mari/Naruto are fine to talk with openly. I worry what Tsunade will do if we express any weakness or hesitancy, so I'd caution against asking her for advice right away.
So I made some rewording to the plan to make it less "asking about advice", but I don't know if it made it better or worse. Could you check for me?
My name is spelled "faflec".
@faflec @Oneiros , Some suggestions:
  • Send Noburi to the Hospital to help out (in general), he can gather info on Tsunade, Hiashi and Naruto and report if something changes
  • We should bring Tsunade some strong alcohol as gift, even if she can't drink, she probably wants alcohol more than flowers
  • We need some strategic information about the other nations, who are going to be the new Kage?
Implemented, mostly. I put Noburi mostly on rumor-checking duty regarding the broadsheet. And we don't yet know the Kages are dead, just Jiraiya (and also Ren, who is in fact alive).
@huhYeahGoodPoint @faflec @Oneiros

Can you add a bit asking Noburi to figure out more about Team Nakano + Extra Guy's specializations and to find out this info for prospective adoptees? Nakano is a "mid-range lightning ninjutsu specialist, with a backup penchant for CQC" per WOJ, but the capabilities of the other three are unknown. These would be good to know (if possible) for an adoption analysis effort post I'll be doing later.
Done.

[X] Action Plan: Gathering Allies

Word Count: I'll figure it out later.
  • Read Jiraiya's will and answers.
    • Focus on whatever instructions he has for us if he's dead, and apply them to our future actions.

  • Ask Mari what it means to be a Clan Head, and about politics in general. She's been our Acting Clan Head during the Exams.
    • How to declare clan secrets.
    • All the clan heads and their political leanings.

  • Meet with people.
    • Optimize with the clan first (Mari included).
    • Tsunade:
      • Schedule a meeting in advance, but we have Jiraiya's last message to her and want to meet her ASAP.
        • Offer to bring her (a variety of) meals, alcohol, and chakra water.
      • Offer our condolences for her losses, and give her Jiraiya's message to her. Let her vent.
      • We're planning to adopt Naruto, as per Jiraiya's wishes. Is he OK for visitors?
      • Talk about !Hiashi's broadsheet. How accurate is it?
      • Ask her if she is going to make a bid for the hat. State that we are absolutely behind her if she is.
        • If not, how about Naruto?
    • Naruto:
      • Schedule ahead. ONLY do this if he's functioning.
      • Introduce ourselves, and offer our condolences for his losses. Let him vent.
      • If Jiraiya left Naruto anything, give that to him.
      • Jiraiya wanted us to adopt you once you were recovered. It's still your choice; we'll support you no matter your decision.
      • Do you want to be Hokage?
        • Relay Tsunade's answer. If she said yes, ask if you're willing to back her.
    • Adoptees: Akane & Tenten
      • Meet with their families, since this concerns them as well.
      • Offer to adopt them into the Gouketsu. Explain what that entails and all that.

  • Misc. stuff:
    • Investigate good adoption targets: Nakano and co., Lee, clanless Jonin like Kabuto.
    • Declare our stuff to be clan secrets (like Kagome's seals).
    • Investigate the broadsheet.
      • It's been printed, ask the Nara who has access to their printing presses.
      • Visit bars, work at hospitals, and check public newscenters to gauge public sentiment towards other countries.

When should we start looking for missing ninja whom we can adopt / sponsor to form a clan within leaf?

When we have enough breathing room that Hiashi couldn't just execute us for it/ we have enough political capital to burn/we have a good enough foundation that we can vet them sufficiently first and make sure they're on the straight and narrow

What steps that we can do now to lay the groundwork for such actions that we are not doing now with the current plan? We should bring it up for the rest of our group can know we have that in mind.

To add to the spoons issue, please consider not only number of scenes but also the amounts of spoons necessary for the QMs for worldbuilding purposes. There's no way we can anticipate every direction you might want to head in, and some of these points will require a lot of QM discussion to make sure everyone's on the same page and no important issues/disastrous contradictions have been overlooked. Double transparency is a spectre constantly lurking over all our shoulders (in my case, it has to compete for space with my two shoulder devils).

Edit: To expand on this, we already know how Tsunade feels about taking the hat. But if you decided to, say, offer Naruto to Hiashi for adoption in exchange for withdrawing from the election (with the implication that he could set up Naruto as his candidate for the next one), we'd have to take time to discuss Hiashi's reaction, to say nothing of everyone else's.

We were party to the murder of thirty civilians
Sixty, actually.

@eaglejarl

Do we know of any Leaf jōnin or clan heads that didn't die in the BotG because they didn't go in the first place? Only one I am currently sure about is Sasuke.
You do not. Hazō's total knowledge about the people in attendance and survivors thereof is what is in this update.

I know you said you wanted to include more racism in the story but I am surprised even Keiko is falling for the narrative.
Hey, that wasn't racism. That was pure facts, backed up by hard statistics. Facts don't care about your feelings, nor about confounding variables. /s

On the off chance that that and/or my original statement raised some hackles:
It did not, at all. :) I appreciated the concern.

@Velorien is apparently a faster writer than me if he's getting the updates done in 7 hours. For me it's usually about 8, with particularly long ones taking up to 10.

Like Inoue is fiercely putting on makeup and choosing just the right outfit, but set to the music of 'grabbing guns off a big stack of guns' from a typical revenge movie.
Yessss.

Wait, but isn't there already a Lady Hyuga?
...
For now.

Somebody probably already asked this, but do we know where the Toad Scroll ended up?
Nope.

EDIT: Our resident wet blanket One of my co-QMs has pointed out that there are definitely provisos on some of the elements of my earlier info post concerning the players' impact on the world. For example, while adopting missing-nin is now thinkable, starting a war over bloodline theft is also still thinkable. Suffice to say that the world is never simple, and it is neither as rosy as I portray nor as gloomy as Mr. Gloomypants someone else might portray.

EDIT: Also, adopting missing-nin may now be thinkable, but it is definitely not something to do casually.

Is this something that needs to be done immediately? Seems a bit excessive given the rest of what we have going on. We can tackle "Approach this list of people about adoption" in another update after having a team meeting about it to make sure everyone is on the same page.

I'm...*shakes hand about*...meh? I don't mind doing this later but would imagine that some people want this done ASAP, plus we don't know if we can talk to Tsunade and Naruto.

A purely cynical method of adoption a missing Ninja would be to have the ninja in question be adopted first by a civilian family that has some measure of wealth from a business who we then adopt into our family.

Additionally are there any purely civilian families who we could add to our clan? It is not as if being a ninja is the only qualifier for being a part of a clan right? They could be part of the backbone of our admin/ finances.

I'd like to have Deidara marry into the clan, actually. Kagome clearly has a crush...
I will give you all the XP if you actually do this. There is no possible way that things could go wrong by suggesting to Kagome that he should enter into a homosexual marriage to an S-rank missing-nin directly responsible for the deaths of large numbers of Leaf ninja and partially responsible for the deaths of two beloved Hokage and a bunch of clan heads. The resulting wacky hijinks would be hilarious.

Can we get that in writing?

You fool. The last time we said something like this, Hazō ended up going on a date with Ami. Never underestimate the players' ability to flood the world with chaos and then gleefully ride the wave to their destination.

Remember when Hazou going on a date with Ami seemed wild and unthinkable?
