A little nervousness will keep the rambunctiousness down. We certainly don't need Hazou, Eternal GM Of The World And All Its People, being overwhelmed by uppity partygoers.

Yes I still think that Hazou's thoughts about GM-ing the entire world sound a bit like a god complex.

Won't that just mean that Ami wins all the games? Since she's the only one to not be nervous and not overcome with unyielding rage at Zabuza's existence?

These are not mutually exclusive on our end of things.
What about Hazou and his new family's end of things? What about actual political considerations? Do you all remember the repercussions that an internal game without any jōnin or clan heads had? I know they were ultimately okay, but try scaling up to the current situation. Where we empathically can not manipulate everyone's impressions in post because we may not meet many of them for years.

Also, what is the actual goal of the game night? I thought it was promoting friendly international relations between ninja of varying status coupled with make everyone have a good time in a novel way. But some of you act like the goal is sowing chaos, like you want to make sure this quest has more quest hooks and fires to react to. And if it is just the meta-goal of reading crazy powerful characters all in one room dealing with novel situations, I remind you that this is a highly simulationist quest and such an even can easily have repercussions as large as, say, starting a war.

I'd like to use Ami's favor on something more valuable than Zabuza's oversized human cleaver.
It was pointed out earlier that having Jounin backup for the summoning scroll conspiracy would be a plus.

Or perhaps aid on the intel/logistics side of that operation...

@faflec I remember there having been some kind of list of the threads current goals and plans. You know, stuff like salt creation, curing Mari, getting a spyglass, the Akatsuki book, saving Naruto, world peace, resurrection jutsu and so on. Or maybe it was just the mid-term goals that we have a clear idea on how to try to achieve them. Any clue what I'm talking about? Or better yet, where to find the latest iteration?

It is a cast-iron rule of the quest that if you vote for it, we will write it, or at least make a good-faith attempt to. With that in mind, you people are crazy.

Elaborate on your offer/intentions:
  • Cooperation was our motto all exam. We're here to build bridges.
  • We're also offering an enormous boost to his career here.
  • (As a callback, order a bottle of Kurohige's Revenge and glasses (shallow pours, save the rest).)
Can you clarify that we're asking him about his response. "So what's it gonna be?" or "And so?" etc

I've got a list like that in my sig, though it's not so much about those kinds of things you mentioned. It's mostly for things that we might otherwise forget if we left it alone long enough, like the idea of getting Hazou a secretary.

It's also an outgrowth of the seal research queue, so it's more for projects than individual tasks or far-reaching goals. That said, I can't believe I don't have the salt plan on there, so it's added now. Feel free to suggest other ideas! After all, it's all only bookkeeping for us to remember later, so we aren't committing to anything more than remembering the idea for later.

Side Project Order of Operations: Because we have way too many to easily keep track of.
  1. Kabuto Research Proposal
  2. S A L T F O R T H E S A L T T H R O N E.
  3. Create (Expand? Codify?) till'n'fill/chakra beast extermination mission fund.
  4. Get other combat seals approved
  5. Get a secretary
Sealing/Research queue:
  1. Extrasensory Seals
  2. Mountain Seals et al. [When Jiraiya is available]
  3. Black Paper Skywalkers (consult Jiraiya)
  4. Movable Force Walls
  5. Larger Storage Seals/Better Macerators
  6. Force Blades
  7. Strobelight Seals
  8. Earth Wall Seals
  9. Water Purifier Seals
  10. Activation Relay Seals
  11. Purifier Variants
For Review:
  • Disposal Seals
  • Snek Seals
  • Eavesdropping Seals
  • Recorder Seals
I'll keep a link to this handy so I can keep track of what we should be doing next when we have spare time. If anyone has anything that we've been meaning to do but I forgot to list, or if you disagree with the priority I've placed them in, please speak up!

I'll vote for your exclusivily If you precommit to at some point you agree to make a good faith effort to get to happen sometime soon.

I will happily commit to this. I want to see Snek Uncle as much as anyone else. :D

voting for something nice for Kagome when we get back (no strings attached)

I will also happily vote for this when the time comes.

You flatter me, kind sir.

I don't... What?

THAT WAS A JOKE! I WAS CLEARLY JOKING! I USED [JK] AND EVERYTHING!

:p:lol

It shouldn't be too dangerous if it happens though... Zabuza probably won't kill us. If he was willing to die to start a war, he would have killed Keiko.

That being said, Zabuza does have the most star power of anyone left in Mist. Angering him might have consequences. The consequences might be fantastic if embarrassing him causes a faction we dislike to lose face. Or they might be really bad if it angers a faction we need to like us.

[X] The Kurosawa Blood (now with extra Zabuza!)

[X] Opportunities
Oh, wait, I already voted for that one. Eh.

@Vecht, I suggest stealing reasoning for inviting Zabuza from @faflec's aforementioned plan.

Included reasoning in my plan. See below:

On the way back:
  • Stop by the Momochi residence and invite Zabuza to game night.
    • Zabuza is a man who symbolizes the epitome of ninja culture. He is nothing if not a brutal, efficient killer, free of remorse or guilt or compassion, a willing tool of death and destruction. He has no reason at all to care for our ideals, and likely thinks little more of the alliance with Leaf.
    • But ultimately, if we are to succeed in our goals, we will still have to deal with those such as he, and what better a place to start? When will we ever have an opportunity like this again? We will extend him an invitation to game night, and take one tiny step towards lasting peace and prosperity through fellowship and glorious munchkinry.
  • Maybe also ask for his signature if he isn't looking too homicidal...

Honestly, if you guys really want to invite Zabuza, we should do it through a letter that he can easily ignore if not in the mood, not in person. Also, do we have an estimate for how many people will actually be there? Sticking 10+ jonin, many of which were recently fighting, in a small room sounds like a bad idea. Whereas if it's just leaf, Ami, and Zabuza... That also doesnt sound great.

Actually, on reflection, inviting Zabuza just doesn't seem very good... I'm all for more Zabuza in some vague future, but this is not a thing to spring on him.

Basically I fear he'll think we're taunting him, and that will not end well.

(Plus, he'll probably be there anyway, as one of the more regularly seen characters)

You are entitled to your opinion, my good zir, even if you are incorrect. I continue to assert that inviting Zabuza is among the most awesomest of awesome things we can do at present.

Would you be willing to vote for sending a letter to Zabuza instead? I can be persuaded.

I'm not following how this pertains exclusively to Zabuza. Are you advocating for cancelling Game Night, then?

Invite Zabuza to game night.
  • Stop by the Momochi residence.
  • Reasoning:
    • It will unnerve the shit out of a lot of folks present.
    • It will make Ami laugh.
    • It will allow Jiraiya and/or others to probe for intel.
Do we want others to probe Zabuza for intel? People from other villages will be there, possibly including Kages or spymasters. It sounds like a bad idea to have them in a position to find out about skywalkers.
Admittedly, they'll be able to prpbe him regardless of whether we put probing in the plan...

Better to have them do that noticeably around us than not around us.

Zabuza specifically is AFAIK fairly antisocial, which makes things more likely to go wrong. Not really cancelling, I guess - but putting some extra attention to things like how much space is available for people; generally making allowances that this will be violent people, many with anger control issues, who do *not* usually spend time around each other, some of which were recently at war with each other... Put into a new and confusing environment, where they compete with each other? In fact we should select games to avoid triggering tempers. Perhaps cooperative PvE games?

I'm trying to find out where we described this idea first to J-man...

ETA: okay, so based on this:

Hazō proposed that tomorrow night the Gōketsu would hold a truly epic gaming night. The entire Leaf contingent would be invited, of course, including the jōnin and any off-shift ANBU. So would all tournament participants, with plus twos for those who wanted to bring their teams or particularly beloved family members. Mum would naturally be invited. Aunt Ren would not, despite being a family member and also the Mizukage—Hazō had put his foot down, and firmly asked Jiraiya to come up with some diplomatic excuse if need be. Whether Keiko invited Ami would be determined by how tomorrow's meeting went, and while a strange little voice in the back of his head tempted him to invite Zabuza just to see what happened, he still had missing-nin survival instincts.

It's: all leaf-nin (most of which will probably show up. Do we know how big our delegation is? Hope Anko's not here...); all tournament contestants with +2s (so genin/chuunin); Hana (ugh); Ami.

Hana and Ami can be special cased as family connection; inviting Zabuza does not really fit. Why him and not any other notable jonin? How can he not be suspicious / think he's being taunted? How can everyone else in Mist not be suspicious?

Plus, maybe leaf anbu + any mist on-duty ninja can keep a bunch of chuunin-candidates behaving, but Ami will probably be rampaging (but at least we can count on her attachment to Keiko to keep it sane-ish), and adding more uncontrollable elements just seems like asking for it.

[x] Action Plan: The Paperwork that Binds us
  • Hazou invites Ren, Raza, A , Zabuza and Ohnoki to game night as well.
  • Run a one-off session with the Kage
    • FtD: Bureaucrat stats mode
    • Pitch: Five assorted individuals are abducted from across the planes of the cosmos by the all powerful Sage. They are sent to the Elemental Plane of Bureaucracy with one task: track down and acquire the Pen of Shining Grant Proposals. Can our heroes navigate the Endless Waiting Line, escape the Unlimited Intern Implosion Room, defeat the Secretary of Sorrows, and file their paperwork before the deadline??
    • Make it epic and cathartic for them.
  • Simultaneously run a session at a table directly behind you.
    • Take Ami, Zabuza, Hana and all the other badasses and anyone else who wants in and have them run a massive one-off epic level DnD session.
      • Pressgang Broburi and Keiko into assisting you on the GM side of things. We only have one shot at this guys.
    • Make sure you're using "Basically Cheating" levels of bullshit to defend against the mass of munchkinry undoubtedly coming your way.
    • Make sure everyone has fun.

Sounds good to me.

Basically I fear he'll think we're taunting him, and that will not end well.

Why would he think that? If we were to unintentionally taunt him there would be easier ways to do so.

HAZOU: Board games are nice and all but here we like to mix things up. Therefore I propose a new game the Gouketsu like to call "Keep the Haiku alive". Each one of us will say a line of the haiku and the next person in line will have to continue it. Allow us to give you guys an example:

HAZOU: At first Mist we were.

KEIKO: Then we ran but we got chased.

NOBURI: By you-know-who.

HAZOU: Simple, right? Mom, why don't you start and we go clockwise?

HANA: Sure: Bowls, bowls of water.

REN: You need to stop and seek help.

AMI: Hana, why can't you stop?

HAZOU: Nicely done! Next one, please.

KEIKO: Hey big scary man.

NOBURI: Are you compensating for something?

ZABUZA: I am not, my sword is just fine.

HAZOU: Oh no, those were eight syllables. Looks like Zabuza couldn't keep the haiku alive.

ZABUZA: *stands up* How dare you! I did my best and I would have given my life gladly in exchange for his!

HAZOU: Umm.

ZABUZA: I will now murder everyone in this room.

KEIKO: Sage damn it, Hazou.
