We all saw him at the awards ceremony; Zabuza can be one heck of a showman when he wants.
That was a competent adult level of social skills delivering what were probably rehearsed lines, but it wasn't the sort of wheels within wheels social masterminding that we were dealing with from Ami, a (presumably) socially-focused or at least adept jonin.

Are we still going to try to invite all the Kages to game night?
Would be very difficult. Jiraiya won't let Hazou invite the other Kages if we don't invite Ren, and Hazou put his foot down on inviting Ren. We'd have to come up with a good internal argument for overriding his previous conviction, and even then Hazou's animosity would probably sour the event a little.

Which isn't to say we couldn't try if we really wanted to, but I feel like inviting Ami and Zabuza is already biting off more than we can chew and I don't want to risk ruining the whole thing by putting Hazou too close to Ren for an extended period of time.

I mean, we haven't tried to make an internal argument for Hazou. I'm sure we could manage it if we did.

We'll be able to act all familiar-like with Ami in front of Ren.

She'll have nightmares for weeks.

That argument is better than mine, I love it.

If anyone else knows about Ami it'll probably give them nightmares too. And Ami will see what we're doing in a half second and play along for her own amusement and probably also five different plots that are helped by making people believe we're working together.

I'm really, really alarmed at all 'messing with Zabuza' plans. In real life people who taunt their enemies are getting squished. IMO this is not a smart move, its a joke-move that can get us to 'Rock Falls, Everyone Dies' scenario.

For me its a YOUTHSUIT all over again, but we have no guarantee that QMs will let this one slide.

I get it that we're all a little high on all the recent success we had and a line of positive updates, but please: I've been an active participant of the quest for less than two months, don't ruin it for me by total party kill!

I'd just like to say I am so happy with y'all right now. Since the month long break we have done 3 to possibly even 5 interesting things. This compared to the 2 things I consider interesting that we did since we got kicked out of Leaf the first time. I'm super pumped that we are finally showing some agency. Really hope we can keep this rolling.

I continue to assert that inviting Zabuza is among the most awesomest of awesome things we can do at present.
Awesome like skywalkers or awesome like buying a youthsuit?

What I would really like is one honest, non-memey explanation why this would be a good idea from an in-story perspective. Because till now it always seems like every explanation any of you give is either "we (the players) want to Zabuza with Zabuza for more Zabuza in our Zabuza" or thinly veiled justifications that clearly are just there to give a pretense and don't even try to convince any player that doesn't already believe in the former.

All I can hope is that Keiko and Noburi are not crazy and that Hazou won't go over his team mates head with this. Luckily the plans say to go over everything with them and I don't expect @Velorien to read it in a strict sense of "go over everything, but then execute regardless of their approval because the plan doesn't say to stop if someone says stop".

I'm for inviting Zabuza because he is a powerful and important player in Mist. Having more insight into who he is gives us more leeway to make political plays in Mist. This is a safe and low stakes opportunity to find out valuable information. Honestly though I'd prefer to invite all 5 kages for the same reasons

Finally an understandable reason. Thank you. I still think it's a bad idea though. At least the 5 Kage balance each other out and don't have personal history with us the way Zabuza does.

That said, even inviting the 5 Kage makes me leery. But that's mostly due to the optics of Leaf having a whole contingent of people while we would only have 3 to 6 people from most other nations. Which makes for bad optics, politically speaking.

Really the only countries that wouldn't have a least a few people there would be Lightning and Cloud. The sand team made it in and we are already inviting a bunch of Mist nin. The only people who would be isolated would be A and Ōnoki. It's not our fault there Genin are trash and didn't make the tourney

You know what we haven't had since page 420, a single day of respite for our characters to really relax. We had not had anything like that beach episode in quite some time. And you know it would be a very good test of our skills is if we could schedule everything so that we have a day to actually relax

I think this was the hope for the most recent game night chapter back in Ch 216, but we weren't sufficiently pessimistic.

Once we get back to Leaf and put out the inferno, we can consider taking a break.

Hey, maybe we should go on vacation in Hot Springs!

I honestly want to have Zabuza over for game night, but cannot imagine a way that it doesn't end with... either disaster or Keiko/Jiraiya putting on the sanity cap and saying "No".
