[] Action Plan: The Power of Love to Go Even Further Beyond

  • Practicing KI with Kei:
    • Inform her we will project our own feelings.
    • Hazou projects his own soul to answer Kei's and de-escalate the psychic interaction. The feeling he conveys is that yes Kei scares him, but that doesn't matter. He will love and support her to whatever degree she feels comfortable with, and whether or not she's scary doesn't enter into the equation.
  • Grab an hour-ish of Jiraiya's time, alone, if possible.
    • Mindset: Mentally prepare for the most brutal thing you have ever experienced.
    • Ask him about Killing Intent.
      • What's the deal there?
    • Help us practice resisting it, please?
      • It's a critical vulnerability if some Jonin can incapacitate and kill us.
    • Ask Jiraiya to floor you with a bit of his KI as he is the scariest/strongest around.
      • Please don't accidentally kill us or break our minds though.
    • Now. Get. Up.
      • You are Hazou Gouketsu, son of Hana and Shinji.
      • Just one man.
      • Jiraiya is also just one man.
      • If you can't stand against Jiraiya's will, how will you stand against the world itself?
      • The world is a Swamp of Death, slowly devouring humanity. We are all its victims - civilians and ninjas, innocents and killers, the weak and the powerful. We deserve more.
      • You must defeat it. And you can.
      • You will bring down every wall, shatter every chain, undo every barrier the world places in your path. You will find a way, you always have.
      • You must win. And you will.
      • Stand. Raise your head high. Look Jiraiya in the eye.
    • Repeat a few times.
      • Try to at least raise your head and look Jiraiya in the eye without hurting yourself.
    • Ask Jiraiya for intel on our competitors.

[x] Action Plan: The Power of Love to Go Even Further Beyond

  • While practicing KI with Kei, attempt to project outwards Hazou's own soul. Not a will to destroy, but the will to protect. Even under the terrifying pressure of Kei's killing intent, Hazou projects a warmth of (sibling!) love that will melt the ice mirrors and deliver to Kei the spiritual and absolutely-not-physical hug that she so clearly needs. If Hazou is mentally sundered by the mirrors then so be it, Kei's Killing Intent will not push away his support.
  • Try to grab an hour or so of Jiraiya's time, alone.
    • Mindset: This is going to be the most brutal thing you have ever experienced. Prepare mentally.
    • Ask him about the killing intent thing.
      • What's the deal there?
    • Help us practice resisting it, pretty please?
      • Its a critical vulnerability if some Jonin can just floor us by glaring at us, and then slit our throats.
    • Ask Jiraiya to floor you with a bit of his killing intent.
      • You are the scariest and strongest guy around, sir.
      • Please don't accidentally kill us or break our minds or something, though.
    • Now. Get. Up.
      • You are Hazou Gouketsu-nee-Kurosawa, son of Hana and Shinji, adopted son of Jiraiya. This is embarrassing.
      • You are a disciple of Gai-sensei. Giving in to fear and intimidation is not in your playbook.
      • You are a sealmaster. You have seen the horrors of the Out and lived. This is nothing in comparison.
      • The blood of Uchiha and Kurosawa alike runs through your veins. This is beneath you.
      • Your nerves are iron, and your body moves by your will and yours alone! Get the fuck up.
      • By all the kami in heaven, you will Uplift this world. Start by Uplifting yourself from the dirt.
    • Repeat a few times.
      • Try to at least raise your head and look Jiraiya in the eye.
      • But don't hurt yourself.
  • Make seals.
  • Proceed to the tournament.

You're over the limit in wordcount.

[x] Action Plan: Merger Plan (142 Words)
  • On the way, talk to Jiraiya.
    • Ask him about the killing intent thing.
      • What's the deal there?
      • Tips for resisting it, or training resistance? On not being paralyzed by it against overwhelming threats?
    • Is there any intelligence on non-Leaf nin we might be matched against in the tournament? Capabilities, weaknesses?

  • Make seals if there's spare downtime with nothing else to do.

So...do we have a plan for dealing with Hana? And by that I mean do we have a plan for if Hana tries to nab us or if it turns out Hana was executed (or accidentally'd)?[post=PostId]Title[/post]

This doesnt have all the Heroic mental motivation bullshit that i expect would be required to do anything to either of their killing intents

[X] Action Plan: Let's Timeskip

  • Use the downtime to produce some nonlethal seals (goo bombs, banshee, etc) for the tournament.

Meanwhile, some possible builds for Hazou's current XP (157.5):

Alertness 31: (31)
Alertness 32: (63)
Alertness 33: (96)
Alertness 34: (130)
Chakra Reserves 11: (152)
Save 5.5 XP (sufficient to level a new Earth justu to level 4)

Alertness 31: (31)
Alertness 32: (63)
Alertness 33: (96)
Chakra Reserves 11: (118)
Chakra Reserves 12: (142)
Save 15.5 XP (sufficient to level a new Earth jutsu to level 7)

New Earth Jutsu 1-10: (27.5)
NEJ 11: (38.5)
NEJ 12: (50.5)
NEJ 13: (63.5)
NEJ 14: (77.5)
NEJ 15: (92.5)
NEJ 16: (108.5)
NEJ 17: (125.5)
NEJ 18: (143.5)
Save 14 XP

Alertness 31: (31)
Alertness 32: (63)
Alertness 33: (96)
Alertness 34 (130)
New Earth Jutsu 1-10 (157.5)
Save 0 XP

Alertness 31: (31)
Alertness 32: (63)
Alertness 33: (96)
Chakra Reserves 11: (118)
New Earth Jutsu 1-10 (145.5)
Save 12 XP

My analysis:
  • Going all-in on the jutsu is a non-starter. We can't get it to Level 20 with our current XP and Level 10 is likely to be just as good for any reasonable purposes.
  • Generally, we have the ability to trade one level of Alertness for one level of Chakra Reserves. I believe that Alertness is more important right now.
  • Generally, we have the ability to trade one level of Chakra Reserves to reach Level 10 in the new Earth jutsu. Depending on the specs of the jutsu, this may or may not be worthwhile.
My conclusion:
  • We should take either Alertness 34, Chakra Reserves 11 or Alertness 34, Chakra Reserves 10, New Earth Jutus 10, depending on how useful the new Earth jutsu is. We must be mindful that Hazou's anemic chakra makes the jutsu even more of a gamble because using it takes away chakra we could be using to chakra boost or other things. Right now, I suspect Alertness 34, Chakra Reserves 11 is our best bet, but I'm open to being surprised by the new Earth jutsu.

Eh, I don't think we have to be that explicit about it, and I'm only proposing practicing against Keiko for now and Hazou wasn't totally demolished by that or anything last time. He'll be OK.

That said, if we could trim it down by 28 and get the bonus XP that wouldn't be a bad thing. Any lines of your mantra you're not especially keen on?
I'll take a crack at reducing the word count when I get back to my apartment.

Aside: I'm almost inclined to not do that at all and just say "Do it." because we are adhering way too strictly to this wordcount business. This is an incentive, not a limit, etc.

Of course I've already simulated a page long argument of "But the bonus XP!" in my head so I'll do it anyway.

@MadScientist

Slice the Uchiha-Kurosawa bit.

It doesn't matter to Hazou and I imagine its not-Hazou enough to serve as a point of objection

Ah fuck.

I only just realised that Killing Intent is MoR Avada Kedavra.

*head-desk*
The whole 'Is that your first killing curse? You have to mean it!' thing? It does sound sort of analogous. Although ninja are projecting an emotion (or something close) directly, which is...interesting. It presents questions about what else can be projected, questions that we should explore experimentally by giving Kei a metaphysical hug.

I really don't think we need to be so explicit with the mantra. The QMs can write it in without our dictating it just fine. I have faith.

That said, if you guys really really won't vote for this merger without it I could add some in. There's wordcount left. Alternatively if you add in asking Jiraiya for intelligence on competitors I'll vote for your version.

I am flabbergasted at you guys wanting to spend so much attention on the journey, when we could timeskip to the tournament!

We arrived in Leaf IRL on September 2nd, and we're still in leaf today on November 18, a total of 77 days. Given that a month is 30 days, that mean MfD have experienced a time dilation by a factor of ~2.56

It'll be one post, it's OK.

@MadScientist already merged the plans.

I DO think we need to be explicit. If we just send 'zou in to get hit with Jiraiya's killing intent without any explicit mental backup he's going to be floored.

Look, I managed to haggle about two week long timeskips for us to get us here as fast as we got here. Its one update.

Chill out and have fun dude.
