Other questions still under discussion, but this was signed off:

There are 45 Leaf genin (15 teams) in the Exams. 4 of them (including you) were in the Doom Fortress and each of you brought in 49 or 50 seals. Other than that:

0 (Taken out by a team from Rock, escorted out of the Swamp and DQ'd)
0 (Taken out by a team from Lightning, knocked out, thrown out of Swamp and DQ'd)
5/5/6
11/11/12
14/15/14
21/22/21
27/27/27
33/33/34 (Hinata/Shino/Kiba)
49/49/49 (Ino/Shika/Cho)
49/49/49 (Neji/Tenten/Lee)
49/49/49 (Akane/Sakura/Haru)
49/49/50 (Team Uplift)
78/78/77
81/81/81
82/82/83

Note that these are the Leaf totals. You don't know how other nations' teams did.

So we are around the 80-th percentile of ninja performance - seems fair to assume other nations did about as well. Good to know. Who are the three highest-scoring teams? It'd be nice to know who is good at combat in Leaf.

[x] Ask Ino about getting hit with her family jutsu, as resistance training for mind invasion.

@Briefvoice : I'd recommend adding something like a few small macerators filled with something that creates a strong scent, that Kiba can track.

Ask Ino for advice on smelly things like flowers. Essential oils in shops or perfumes would be perfect. Might want to minimize throwing money around to keep haru from being pissed.

Whenever the proctors try to clean Hazō off, he just pops another scent macerator (ideally of a different scent each time, in a pre-determined order, to minimize other followers).

Do we actually need to use macerators for this? Thinking about it again, and Hazou could just carry some strong scent in a bottle and occasionally dump some in the air. Not sure what use of an actual macerator contributes.

We've not heard of other telepaths. It's probably either Yamanaka-only or sufficiently rare that Yamanaka wouldn't want to proliferate the ability to defend yourself from it.
It seems safe to assume that someone else would have figured how to bend chakra to create what is probably one of the most desired abilities for infiltration and information-gathering?

And yet, we're living in a world where the smartest people ever use body-control that A) requires you to connect your shadow to theirs and B) requires you to make any movements you want your victim to make. So there's probably some hidden reason why making sought-after jutsu like telepathy is super-difficult. Otherwise the other clans would have done it. Everyone would have done it.

E: I hate to feed @Dictator4Hire, but if we want telepathy, or training to resist it, we probably need to marry Ino.

The usual answer for more esoteric abilities seems to be, "It requires a beneficial mutation which is dominant enough to be passed down family lines without excessive in-breeding combined with special jutsu/training designed to take advantage of that mutation."

Could someone else learn Yamanaka mind-body techniques? Perhaps if they spent a lot of time and effort to train you, but it might require Yamanaka genetics to develop them in the first place.

does anyone want to spend some time learning about the 3 leaf teams that have more points than us?

I worry this is more of a lack of GM spoons than a need to spend in-game time. After all, Hazou presumably talked to these teams in person to learn their seal counts. I'm sure he 'knows' their names, general appearance, and perhaps some guess at their specialty. It's more that the GMs haven't sat down to invent those details yet.

edit: Also, there's a slight implication in the update that practicing thinking about unpleasant thoughts might help when it comes to combating Yamanakas.
If, like Hazou, you don't have a "box in your head where the bad thoughts go", but instead, there is screaming in Kagome happening all the time forever, you have perfect defense against mental invasion :V

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Any update on:
  • Who do they think are the high-power dangerous teams to watch out for?
  • How did other Teams locate the Exam?
Additional info:

The other teams encountered various people -- instead of going into exact details, just assume that at least one Leaf team encountered a team from each village in the Exam.

High powered teams:
  • Lightning:
    • Crazy fast Taijutsu
    • AOE lightning blasts from the sky
    • Genjutsu
  • Rock:
    • CQC. Shapes earth (sand, dirt, etc) into various weapons, whips, shield, net etc. (Not Gaara)
    • Ninjutsu that controls the ground -- earthquakes to knock you off balance, hands that entrap you, etc
    • Wind-element ninjutsu. Ridiculously strong attack, shields, etc
How they found the event: Mostly spied on proctors, some were told by other teams.

I thought we split it up Akane-Noburi-Haru, Keiko-Hazou-Sakura?
OH. Derp. I thought you meant during the swamp event, not during the last update. That one we'll have to get back to you on.

Strategy thoughts on the high-powered teams.

AOE's guy's weakness is that I doubt he's immune to his own lightning blasts. Lock him in place with a Jiraiya goo-bomb and then close to PUNCH range and stay in his face.

Crazy fast taijutsu has several possible strategies. Hit him with explosives mostly.

Genjutsu is almost more dangerous outside combat than inside. Use a pangolin as a "spotter" for reality... if we see Lightning guys around, assume the genjutsu user is casting a genjutsu. Banshee Slayer + Banshee Seal might disrupt his concentration.

Rock:
  • CQC. Shapes earth (sand, dirt, etc) into various weapons, whips, shield, net etc. (Not Gaara)

CQC - Use seals that must be dodged rather than blocked.

Ninjutsu - Would coating the ground in a force wall work?

Wind-element Ninjutsu - Trap him inside an Air or Earth dome with our taijutsu fighters so he can't summon strong winds without knocking himself around?

That reminds me.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Does the Elemental Wheel exist (i.e., an offensive/defense Wind technique will lose if used against a Fire technique?); and if so would the same effect happen if we used non-chakra based Fire (e.g., stupid box)?

I honestly don't recall. I've asked in QM chat and we'll let you know.

In other news, I finally had time to sit down and fiddle with character sheets. Everything is set for Hazō, but the equipment is throwing me for a bit of a loop. I'd rather not go back and fiddle through all the updates to figure out exactly what the totals should be for everything, so I've eyeballed it; does this look about right for Hazō?
