This wouldn't take any FP or wordcount. Hazō and Noburi went straight to the Nara estate and told Kei and Shikamaru what Noburi had learned. The two said they had no idea about it but they would discuss the implications and check the family's private records to see if there was anything relevant.

We'll remove Itachi's mention of the Tenfold Abomination to preserve continuity. It's worth noting that this is actually to your (slight) advantage overall. Itachi went on to say that he didn't want to share Akatsuki forbidden lore unless Hazō joined, since otherwise he'd potentially be spilling it to all of Leaf. If you weren't going to get meaningful lore out of him regardless, it's better to have a potential enemy unaware of how much Hazō knows.
Pinging @Paperclipped @eaglejarl

Does Hazou suspect "the Five" are the primary shards of the Tenfold Abomination's mind? As the Tailed Beasts are the shards of its body?

Based on Itachi's mention of the "Primal Malice" does Hazou think it might be
1. Little bits of the Tenfold Abomination glomming on to ninja bloodlines (ie. why the Hyuuga are such assholes)
2. The aggressive nature of chakra purposed for war, still seen 1000+ years after the Sage's time.
3. Something else entirely.

As a general rule, y'all determine what Hazō believes. We reserve the right to override but we do that very rarely. An example would be something like this:

Players: Hazō believes that all matter is made of atoms which are in turn composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons. He also believes that matter and energy are equivalent.

QMs: Nope.

Counterpoint, he'd have been far more likely to share forbidden lore with someone who already knows some Good Stuff™️.

Perhaps we would have learned a few tidbits before he ultimately decided not to share anything unless we joined.

Glad to have this confirmed. Thank you very much!

It's something he explicitly said in the update. Do you need me to give Word of QM that he meant it?

Like I said, he might have disclosed more things before he decided that. During those few minutes, I meant.
I think when you say "might" here Velorien is saying "he would not have"

Sounds like Itachi wouldn't want Hazou spreading the info to Leaf even if Hazou did know what Itachi was talking about

Look human essies have proved time and again they're shit at spreading details, reject human lore and embrace 7th Path wisdom :V

We should only do this as we prepare to leave Kei behind.

If we do end up leaving Kei behind she and Snowflake are going to have the most interesting conversations as I suspect Snowflake would follow Hazou to the ends of the earth whereas Kei would feel too trapped by her obligations.

Hazou would send a Shadow Clone to convince Kei to come with him as that is a thing Hazou-the-traitor would most likely do and Kei would summon Snowflake to better assess such a dire choice. Snowflake would be convinced to go with Hazou but Kei would come to a dawning, horrible icy logical conclusion that she absolutely must stay in Leaf as her skills are not strictly needed in rift research, but they can make a difference if she stays.

Can you imagine the self-loathing levels Kei will experience as every time Snowflake gets dispersed Kei receives all of the creative reasons and motivations as to why she should have left everything behind to go with Hazou? The despair Snowflake will feel as every time she exists she knows her duration isn't long enough to find Hazou and that her subservient existence chains not just her, but her ability to follow her heart's desires in ways she can never break free from?

Kei and Snowflake might just approach hitherto unprecedented levels of tragedy.

OTOH, Snowflake could independently realize that she can commit treason while keeping Kei completely unawares of said treason, allowing her to support Hazou from her position within the village without risking Kei (since nobody in Akatsuki knows Kei's Shadow Clones are cognitively independent and can hide memories from Kei).

[X] Action Plan: Schrodinger's Treason Dragon

Throwing my weight behind the winning vote. We might not survive it, but it still seems worth it.

That said, there are a few unsolved questions:
  • If we plan on asking any or all of core Team Uplift to leave with us, are we telling them the reasons why before or after they say yes to joining us?
  • If only after (due to OPSEC) what reasoning will we give them beforehand? How much are we willing to outright lie to them?
  • How on earth will we explain to Kagome that the Demon Fox asked us to go missing nin and abandon all the hard built positive relationships and our response was to gift him out Clan on top of that?
  • If we are only asking our fellow Summoners to join us, are we okay with the fallout that happens if they all say yes? Like having both Mari and Yuno be completely abandoned by their family without so much as a goodbye?

Probably before or at the same time would be my suggestion. Just like, "hey so me and Kagome have been working on necro and Akatsuki told us to fuck off, and Naruto told me in no uncertain terms to quit it, so we gonna dip cuz we ain't no quitters. We'll come back with at least one Hokage in tow to pardon us, but we kinda need your help" or w/e. Mari can prob be told in advance so she can help build the pitch/soften the blow.

How on earth will we explain to Kagome that the Demon Fox asked us to go missing nin and abandon all the hard built positive relationships and our response was to gift him out Clan on top of that?
KAGOME: strange but whatever, let's research and get Akane and Jiraiya stinker back already.

I would be willing to leave Mari behind, but not Yuno if we're taking Noburi, and I think we should take Noburi. However, I've come around to thinking we should just take em both. Team Uplift ride or die baby

What about the part where we wanted to mostly hide in the 7th Path?

Or, if we're not doing that, what's our survival strategy against Akatsuki?

What about the part where we wanted to mostly hide in the 7th Path?
My suggestion has been to go on a Scroll Hunt as our cover for leaving and just don't return from it after getting the Scroll. First scroll prob goes to Yuno as Mari will have an easier time taking care of herself, but we should get her one too.

Because if we leave we want to bring them too. Also Noburi doesn't want the job he would just do it if he had to. Mari is the same way.

The main conceit of my plan is that his actions need to make sense regardless of which path Hazou takes. To me it is clear that even if we stay, doing misc clan head shit is just not the best use of Hazou's time. And if we go, he protects what we leave behind much better than if Hazou just abandons his post
Gotcha. IMO while being clan head does take up some time, I personally think the agency and resources it grants us are probably worth it for advancing our goals (especially with the generous way the QMs model Hazou's time vis-a-vis the XP abstraction). It also seems pretty extreme to ask on the spot to abdicate without talking to any of our advisors about the possibility /ramifications.

But lastly, if this truly is something we would explore regardless of treason or not then we don't need to rush doing it in this meeting. Maybe we warn Naruto that we've had this thought (so that if we do bring this proposal to him later on, he doesn't mistakenly think it's just an indication that now we're on the treason path), but we don't need to commit to asking him to replace us on the spot.

That's only true when we aren't an Akatsuki loot pinata. If some way can be figured out to stay in Leaf and not collapse the first time Akatsuki comes knocking, great! Until then I feel we have to default to leaving.

Haha I hear you on that! But I think the decision to stay or leave is orthogonal to the decision on whether to propose abdicating to Naruto. If it isn't orthogonal, then we shouldn't bring it up because he doesn't want info that tells him if we're staying or leaving.

OK, I will clarify it doesn't need to be decided right this second.
Appreciate that! Though IMO we shouldn't be offering it right now, until we've done our homework on whether that's really what we want. Like I don't think we're sure yet what roster we would treason with. If we end up not bringing Noburi/Mari, would it still a good idea to change our heir to Naruto? The answer might still be yes, but given that we're not under pressure to make the offer to him now or never, we should talk to them and figure that out instead of making the offer without consultation.
