Technically it's extralegal racketeering but the only useful difference between that and capitalism is whether the owner of the means of production is self-declared or sanctioned by the state

I would also vote for a detour through Honey. @Velorien and @eaglejarl, what do the notes from Oro look like? A couple of locations and rough descriptions of what we're looking for? Any notable threats?

[X] Action Plan: Go Home
  • It's unlikely that we're going to find the Squirrel folk. Let's call it a day.
    • Ideally we can dispatch Noburi, Mari, and some other folks (Akane? Yuno?) in the near future to locate the Squirrel folk (maybe leaning on the People of the Lake?) and snatch the scroll.
  • Skywalk home unless there's a good reason to travel conventionally.
  • Velorien writes what he wants otherwise.

[X] Action Plan: Go Home

I'd personally rather wait till Noburi is around to go to Honey so I'll unvote if that's added

  • We've now collected some decent intelligence: we have better maps of the area than we used to and we found a little village.
  • We could probably keep grinding - try the abandoned camp scheme in another area, look for the island-in-a-lake - but it would be resource- and time-intensive.
    • Let's call it a day: we can return to Leaf and come back with a different team composition or more efficient approach.
  • That said, we promised Snowflake a Goketsu-style adventure. Let's swing by Honey and do some scouting of the areas Orochimaru mentioned.
    • We can do an in-depth search once Noburi's freed up. If there's any low-hanging fruit, grab it, but the main goal is to fill in any gaps in Orochimaru's notes. There's probably a lot of stuff he didn't write down because it was below his notice/not a threat to him.
      • Prioritize resources/areas that are unlikely to be guarded by ninja.
      • Be stingier with Skywalker use once we're in the area (opsec!) but travel there by air.
    • Once that's done (don't spend more than a few days) head back to Leaf for some R&R, planning, and (shudder) paperwork.
  • Note for the QMs:
    • This is a pretty vague plan but we don't know a lot about Orochimaru's notes. I'm deferring to HazoPilot and the team to fill in the details.
    • The goal is to gather enough information that we could plan a directed mission to Honey once we're back in Leaf.
    • I'm not expecting any had-fun XP as the plan is basically 'write what you want'.

[X] Action Plan: Go Home

The problem with going to Honey IMO is that we know how easy this particular team can be found by patrols on the ground, and i'm wary of ending in another fight with a unlucky patrol(or unlucky us, but considering how strong Yuno is, i would say the chances are on our side).

[X] Action Plan: Go Home

We should use the skyslicer trick we used to kill that one Dragon to kill a Chakra golem, if it can kill a Dragon, then it should be able to kill a chakra golem when said golem -unlike the Dragon- would have no way of knowing what seals are, and thus is far likelier to fall for a Skyslicer trap then the Dragon was.

And that's not even accounting to the fact that it's extremely unlikely chakra golems are even sentient due to their sedentary nature, making them even more vulnerable to a skyslicer trap.

What's more, with the aid of summons who face only the threat of mild discomfort on the human path, there's not even any risk involved.

My big concern here is that we need to set up the trap and lure one into it. If it was possible to trivially outrun them, I bet Jiraiya would have done so instead of risking his life fighting one.

Add to this uncertainty that our god-killing trick will work on things that don't necessarily have organic anatomy (suddenly, there's two, slightly smaller, chakra golems chasing us...) makes me very leery of trying this until we're cracked the Flying Thunder God (or a similarly-powerful 'we need to leave now' technique) or we're powerful enough that we have a good fallback plan.

"Give our bodies back to our people," Hirotora said. "Or at least leave them back where we fought, and use another of those wailing things to make sure they come find them. The priests will know what to do. If you can't even do that… I guess it doesn't really matter, does it?"

Sanity-check with the team & Mari/Noburi.
  • We've now collected some decent intelligence: we have better maps of the area than we used to and we found a little village.
  • We could probably do the same thing - try the abandoned camp scheme in another area, look for the island-in-a-lake - but it would be resource- and time-intensive.
    • At the same time, we still want to return the bodies of the dead Squirrel-folk.
    • Why not do both?
  • Let's use the returning-of-the-bodies, which we want to do regardless, as a way of locating the Squirrel-folk's home.
    • Return to the place where we fought the patrol. Be stealthy and stay alert - the area may be monitored.
    • Unseal and respectfully place the bodies in the area.
    • Let Panashe set up her blinds and hidey-holes, and help her set up a Silence Mine (or Banshee Slayers) in one of them, for her hearing.
    • Detonate a Banshee Fucker once Panashe is ready and we're out of the way.
  • Ideally, Squirrel-folk will be attracted to the battle, find the bodies, and take them, GTFO'ing back home in a way we can follow them.
    • If this doesn't work, Hazou makes the argument that we should return to Leaf and try again in the future.
    • That said, we promised Snowflake a Goketsu-style adventure. Let's swing by Honey and do some scouting of the areas Orochimaru mentioned.

I was speaking metphorically, but now that you mention it, we have actually started fires in Hot Springs and Cat.
The fire in Hot Springs was nowhere near half the continent! Unless they're really really tiny.

Whereas we've destabilized geopolitics many, many times. Hot Springs, Skytowers/Skywalkers, I'd argue that the Great Seal counts, and probably more.

We don't have to be able to outrun them, we just have to be fast enough to get them to run into a Skyslicer trap where they will be sliced into many, many pieces.

Also our summons (Specifically Kagome's arachnids) are the ones who will be doing all the work, both in setting the traps and luring the golem to said traps. Making the venture risk free for us.

Also we already have a leave now technique, it's called, be like 20 kilometers into the air on a skytower during the entire operation.

If we approach this with the bare minimum of competence, there should be no way for team uplift to be harmed during this operation.

So, either we're faster than them or we're not. If we're not faster than them, then any plan which involves our getting them to a trap personally relies on a) the speed differential being large enough that we can be confident we can lure them to the trap before they get within range of us and b) the Skyslicers removing them as a threat on contact quickly enough that they don't take us down with them, or something. I don't like that risk for that reward.

I'm almost certain that we're not faster than them because if Jiraiya was faster than them he'd have just run - they don't drop loot boxes, there's no compelling reason to win that fight if you can just leave - and we're not faster than Jiraiya.

This also relies on being able to scout one without pulling agro.

Having Summons do it while we're remote is a better idea and addresses my concerns about our physical safety. However, we still need to scout one and it's still really not obvious to me that they're actually going to be killed by Skyslicers: we know nothing about their biology. If it fails, we pop the Summons, and...cross our fingers really hard that they don't have some way of finding us? The ratio is better but I still don't love the risk-reward.

Going on a chakra metal hunt with this as a good backup plan (level some Earth jutsu for Hazo so he can find the stuff more easily) makes sense, but actually hunting one of the bastards down? I don't want to intentionally get any closer to these things than is necessary.

At the very least, if we pursue this, I want to have a squad of ANBU along for the ride. We can promise Asuma 75% of the metal we retrieve and a decent payment if we come up empty-handed, or whatever.

Sky walking home probably has issues without noburi . Else we'd have done that instead of boat to neck. Also it would mean giving up on sailor dude idea for koi

I really don't understand planning on how to defeat a chakra golem when we know virtually nothing about them. If they're just giant amorphous clay for instance then maybe skyslicers don't do anything. Let's do some research on them first if we're really so gung-ho about killing one.

I guess we could ask Asuma about it? Or maybe Tsunade. Offer a cut of the chakra metal in exchange for the information
